The Cooper Temple Clause was an alternative rock band formed in Wokingham, Berkshire, in 1998. They quickly rose to prominence after signing a record deal with RCA in 2000, releasing several singles and EPs that paved the way for their critically acclaimed debut album, "See This Through and Leave," in 2002. Their music blended elements of rock, electronic, and experimental sounds, which captivated audiences and critics alike.

Their second album, "Kick Up the Fire, and Let the Flames Break Loose" (2003), propelled them to international fame, driven by hit singles such as "Promises, Promises" and "Blind Pilots." The band's ability to evolve their sound while maintaining a distinctive edge won them a broad fanbase. In 2006, they left RCA and signed with Sanctuary Records, where they released their third album, "Make This Your Own." However, following the departure of band member Daniel Fisher, The Cooper Temple Clause announced their split in April 2007.
Named after the Cowper-Temple clause, a provision related to religious education in the 1870 Elementary Education Act in England and Wales, the band often played with the origin of their name in interviews, creating fictional stories about its derivation. Their playful media interactions and unique sound left a lasting impact on the rock music scene.
