It hurts to see antiques getting destroyed like this
Well, that man didn`t look that old.
Bet they could rebuild that tho
2 weeks later it will be sold as good as new 😂
@@FlyingT100 Only in the junk yard.
He wasn't even scratched 😂
That is an absolute unit of German engineering! ❤
1980s Mercedes and BMW were ahead of their time.
I own a 126 Mercedes Benz 1983 300SD. It has an inline five cylinder turbo diesel engine. It is a tank! I love the old car, it still gets 23 mpg! And has over 200,000 miles on the original engine!
I'm with ya.....I have a '79 300SD TurboDiesel, love this car. Maintain fluid and filter changes and you will get many, manyyy more miles out of her!!
That is the difference between German cars and the rest.
@@markreed171 definitely my most favorite car! I have done all kinds of repairs to mine!
My Dad had a 300SD TD a long time ago….. Just properly built.
I wonder if this was a grey market Mercedes 500 SEL? My dad a grey market 1985 500 SEL in California. It was made specifically for German autobahn with no catalytic converter or any of the usual smog equipment and it had an astounding pickup speed for 3,000lbs car!
This is not a car. This is a Panzerkampfwagen 300.
Panzerkampfwagen is BMW 750i E32 germanys first V12 engine after WWII
Two pit maneuvers and it still drives off like nothing even happened! Incredible build quality.
100%.
Designed to be safe and comfortable for long stints on the Autobahn at triple digit speeds. Pitting a properly sorted W126 driven by a competent (and sober) driver is like trying to derail a train using stones. 😂
Dang it, i wish they would legalize it here in this fake free USA, where you can vote and have a gun, but lose both rights if you get caught driving over 100 mph lol.
German engineering is unique and that car is a good proof of that.
The Dodge Charger and mostly Challenger use 1990s Mercedes’ chassis and suspension parts.
Hate to see the 126 destroyed like this but it is interesting to watch. It’s like 90s movies all over again.
A college professor who knows his rights!
LoL😅😅😅

I think it was those times that the suspect bottomed out and scraped the underside of the Mercedes that he blew out his oil pan. After that it started smoking and I knew the end was near. By the time the second patrol car joined the chase he was losing a lot of power and that engine was about to seize up. At one point you can see droplets on the camera car's windshield. That could only be coolant or oil.
Good point.
Nice detective work !
@@vonier13 Right after the hit he takes, when he bottoms out at 1:42 , you immediately see a lot of smoke between the cop car and the suspect. That's what first caught my attention and made me think he had a massive oil leak.
@@DATo_DATonian
Dude he was sparking all the way up that hill like 3-4 times before the fatal blow 😮
Just flat sending it 😮😮
I bottomed out my C55 right where there was an edgy manhole cover and I only found out 2 minutes later when I saw a plum of black smoke coming from my rear view mirror as I got on the highway and speeded up but it wasn’t the engines
oil pan, it was the bottom of my rear differential the cooling fins had taken a bite of that manhole cover and opened the rear back of the Alloy differential, and allowed all its oil to come out. Next day I purchased a rear diff on eBay for $550 and had it installed for about 600 bucks. Gotta love Mercedes. My C55 only had 4000 miles but had already been for 14 years with me. It was a car that I only drove on Monday nights to go to Monday movies. It was the only time and day that I could get to enjoy it on those LA crowded roads and highways all other times I move by scooter or moto, and thats what allowed me to keep that c55 gas guzzler German rocket beauty with so little miles. I sold it during COVID to get a diesel ford transit. That’s another beauty of a tank that has gotten 60k miles in over 2years and half cause it’s way more useful for my new kind of lifestyle out of LA.
Dang, that's not a car - it's a tank!
Panzer😁😱
Genau, früher waren die großen deutschen Limousinen wie Panzer gebaut.😊
They are, I have a W116 280SEL. Nice car to drive.
Used by heads of state all over the planet. Current version is the "S-Guard."
At least, it seemed that the BMW's window glass was easy to smash.
Absolutely these old vintage mercedes are better than these new modern mercedes nowadays
💯💯💯
LOL the look on the guy's face every time the cop sends him spinning 😂😂
freeee rollercoaster rides
Oh Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes-Benz!
Real steel.
They are built like tanks, but man oh man, if only he was driving a 560 SEC or SEL. Now THAT would have been something!!
AMG 6,0 engine ;)
It's all the practice they had building Panzer and Tiger tanks
And still lost 2 world wars back to back with 25 years 😂
Today, Germany is little Afghanistan... smart people
@@USViperhmm what happened in Vietnam war and Afghanistan? Americans get humiliated by rice farmers and fighters with cheap AK-47s.
@infernoknight430 Meanwhile you are using an American made media platform called CZcams because your country doesn't have sh1t 🤣😂
It was a mere 300SE.If it were a 500SE/SEL/SEC or even a Euro 560 SE/SEL/SEC the cops would have lost him as the latter governed to 155MPH ,which was easily over ridden by simply cutting a lead at the back of the speedo head. Not bad for a car which first hit the market in 1980.
And if it qas a AMG 5.6? 😏
litte smart ass fun fact ..the w126 came out in germany even one year before, in 1979..
I have probably the only 500SE in the U.S. can confirm it lives at high speeds.
My Euro 300SEL (1986) went to 240km\h, about 150mp/h. Stock engine with about 310K KM, full service record.
560 would go about 260+, 160mp/h+
Yea quite fast cars for the time.
But as we know US engines are cut off some HP's, because of the emission regulations.
I’ve got a 1986 300se automatic, 1986 300sel 5-speed, 1985 500se AMG, and a 1982 500sec, 1980 280se 4-speed and 1985 280se 4-speed also (all running and driving and available for sale between Philadelphia and Baltimore) and I’ve owned another 1989 300se and euro 1983 380se I parted out and a 1990 560sel I sold. Seeing how long it took the police to catch this guy, I have a hard time believing it was a stock setup for ANY w126. Police cars are generally fast. Aren’t they?
Tough car. My Nissan would have folded and died after that heavy hit from the cruiser.
YEAH, there's a major difference between German and Japanese cars. German auto maker's use plenty of steel in all the right areas. Japanese auto maker's go for as little as possible to save weight for gas mileage.
Well no,if you drive Nissan Patrol GR from 90is😂
These cars were the only car brand used as taxis in Morocco back in the 90s
They were not a regular taxis they were interstate taxis that can take you +6 passengers any city in Morocco and most of places they go miles and miles off road in rural regions unlike the regular taxis that are limited to one City
These are the most solid cars ever made
Ask any Moroccan
They don't make them like they used to!
Would be fun se a new S-cklasse in a chase :D
Boy that car was solid !
W126 S-klasse 😅
Quality German Engineering
126 chassis was built better than any car today 😂😂😂😂
💯💯💯
It doesn't even look wrecked when it's all over!
Pretty tough Benz 😊
The stability control on that old Mercedes is great lol
Hehe doesnt have one.
God… I love my Mercedes S Class for this very reason.💪🏼😎
Thing was already starting to self immolate from all the bottoming out. 😂
Sparks where flying like crazy!
And the 300SE is a six!
Aww man, that poor sweet old car...
Very impressed to see how that old merc took those hits and kept moving them plastic cars today ain’t cuttin that.
What a beautiful car.... Really loved SELs
At least we know how tough this 126 really is. Makes it more desirable in years to come. Take this as an advert.
Basically!
Those older ones iv worked on are dam near bullet proff not like the newer benz today. But crazy pursuit
Quality ✌️💯
I've seen 2 new S classes broke down by the side of the road yesterday and last week model year 2023-24. Quite recent model. It's not even chase yet.
If he had a 560SEL he could have pitted the cops. W126 has tremendous stability, wide track long wheelbase even in SE. 3.0 liter only has 185hp.
560sel with hydro suspension, webasto, ceramic front discs etc,so good car..
And it's 188hp for euro version
German engineering 😊
' you are not buying a car, you are buying a technology'
Тот случай, когда свермощная полицейская тачка облажалась в гонках с древним шедевром немецкой инженерной мысли😂
I'm in uk and have a 1992 300se one owner and and all that, and a 1985 280ce both bought for no money. They pair cost me 3000 UK so 4000 us I guess. I fucking love the w123 w124 and w126. Best cars ever made. Prove me wrong
Sooo w210s (Dodge Chargers) with hemi V8s , were finally able to bring down a w126 with a 6 cylinder...Got it.
Well, you`ll never know what`s a solid build auto until you own a Mercedes. This guy took a real beating (& pitt manouvers and it was still going
Old Bmws like E32 and E34 are also driving tanks
In crash these old cars are very unsafe compared with new cars.
Little Example what happens these old cars in crash czcams.com/video/mWxLaS5Y4s0/video.html
Ok at this speeds you get killed in any car, but still it shows how unsafe is old cars compared to new cars.
@@kaliiklejatheir tests are flawed in numerous ways ive seen lots of cases where the old car decimated the new car
They're tough but you'll never know what heavy duty is on a car until you own a chrysler imperial
@@taylorsopko5807 You see it wrong, new car always wins in crash. If we talk known good cars.
You are no point to arque, i have seen many carsh tests.
Safe care is not stiff, but right build, stiff passenger cage and right soft front end and other safety things like airbags and so on.
If tou don't have education about crashes, you can't look them right.
In the 1990's I was backpacking through Africa and taking local transports through dirt roads, local cars were either Toyota's or Peugeots (French cars), beaten to the pulp, sometimes missing doors. Then all of a sudden came that olds Mercedes S class from the 1970's. That car like the others already had a first live in Europe or elsewhere but that Mercedes still handled the potholes of those african dirt road like if it was a magic carpet, in complete silence. Amazing built quality those cars at the time.
I'm putting a skid plate on my 500SEL 💪
That car can go. Wow
Esos autos fueron hechos para durar .👍
S Class is for cruising not for racing, but if it was a 560 the cops only would have seen the rear lights getting smaller.....
Or AMG 6,0 SEL :D
W116 were tanks too. My Dad bought one of the 1st 300sd 5 cylinder turbo diesels. 28mpg but definitely not a performance car. The '79 450 sel 6.9 was a monster. 169mph. So stable and smooth. My w209 clk 550 with 382 hp doesn't ride as nice but handles well and easily runs low 13 second 1/4 miles embarrassing many stock muscle cars. One day an E63 wagon would be fun.
It was a 560 these are V8 chargers
@@porsche928s4 Dude I have speed and reliability your screwed if this guy had any performance Merc of the time

Bruno Sacco💯
The car was healthy, the sick one was the driver. Now the car needs attention and the driver needs jail time!
Good ol' German machinery
I"ve owned a few of those, 420 and 560, a 1988 420SEL saved me in a nasty crash, In my opinion these cars are among the safest tanks on the road. They can take serious hard hits and the passengers walk out.
I love the fear in his eyes @4:11 when he realize he is not getting away. 😱😆
3:39 that hit trooper goes "ahh" his car took hard hit there he felt that. These were road tanks the body is as thick as the unibody frames on cars today.
Super J and his old school crusing tank, thinking he can run the good ol' boys down there through Lenox Hills. I miss the ATL.
Good ol' german engineering sure made them work for it 😂
It held up amazingly not a scratch basically and all wheel still on the car :D
Very true, but good ol' American engineering took him down.
@@DATo_DATonianthose newer explorers are garbage. I'd never buy a vehicle with a timing chain driven water pump. Also the new explorers shatter like glass in an accident. Now the older Ford explorers are tough.
@@DATo_DATonian Yea sure you only did that cause driver don't drive good you have anyone who can drive your not stopping that so go blow another engine American boy

It seems like the suspect has some driving experience. but at the end 1:0 for the police. nice work!
💯👌
Pain. Watching a 126 get wrecked like that. damn.
Engineered like no other! It seems as if he bottomed out and cracked the oil pan, causing a loss of oil, and smoke which eventually ran dry bc even that last hit he could have still pulled off, remarkable car! Sad to see her getting banged up!
Man! That's a powerful cop car
One of the most beautiful S-class models. What a style.
Indeed it is!
Top w126❤
Oh no! This Benz was a piece of art!😢
I want a Mercedes just like that 1 . Tough car yes ?
Whatever the car was a tank or not that dint prevent the driver to be arrest!
Its only the cooling system that let it down but engine and transmission was still pushing on and car was not dead yet! If only benz designed the cooling system better on the W126,W124,W140,W201,W210,R129 etc im mentioning all these because for the cooling system to work efficiently, AC system must be charged to spec and auxilary fans only kick in at a certain threshold of AC pressure and even with pressure being on spec, on 95 and earlier models (W140 specifically) the aux fan got two types (earlier w dual wire going below which fails and later/updated single wire and works well) and mine being an earlier type..aux fans only kick in intermittently and never really lowers down engine temp (summer AC on and in stop/go traffic) everything from fan clutch, water pump, thermostat, fan bearing w bracket, updated engine harness etc is replaced. Now only left with trying the cool harness v2 mode, transistor inside ECT sensor mode, aux fan cut/ solder on board mode…if all fails after all these methods…im going to install a switch to manually control the aux fans (which is the best solution and something i would love to control myself if someone instructs me how to do it) imagine having the freedom to **manually control ur dual aux fans to work alone or together and also to control their speeds in 3 way (lo-mid-hi)** i will pay whatever is asked if the words in asterisks are worked on my car. $$$$$
I advise people to try it with a 560 sel armored. The result would be a lot different.
The last German tank
Der gute alte Benz. Schade um den Wagen.
not so fast in acceleration, but once he got going he could move. When he got slowed down the charger's superior acceleration made it easy to PITT them.
Mei Opa hod oiwei gsogt: Des isch a Benz, da kansch im zweide Gang hundertfuffzig fahre...
Was that Mr. Regular Car Reviews? 😆
There will be some similar chase from some Mercedes Benz W124 E-Class that model is beautiful.
Who taught these cops to drive and PIT? Miss Daisy? If dude's car didn't kill itself they'd still be chasing him...
Is this a promotional video from Mercedes? Of course its an antique, its over thirty years old.
Fantastique voiture !!
Remember boys, the pit can work both ways.

I wonder if it was grey market 500 SEL. My Dad's 1985 500 SEL was literally made for German autobahn. Weighing in at 3,000lbs it had astounding pickup and faster top speed than the 1989 560 SEL I bought 4 years later.
Was 500 faster than 560?
@@gtboard its interesting 500sel had 331hp but I remember it feeling so much faster off the line than my 560sel 227hp but there's not much difference in hp. No airbags to go off and block the driver's view😂
I’m on my 2nd W126. Both of mine had V8 gas engines. The lower oil pan is exposed and most are dented. If the engineers had some protection there, he might have gotten away.
That is why there was that very solid heavy duty steel bash plate that was available as a bolt on part to cover the sump area

That officer knows how to pit
That's a well made car. No doubt he could've kept going if he'd had the chance. He was actually a pretty good driver bouncing out of that pit maneuver, not once, but twice, and nearly thrice. That would've pissed me off as a cop though. 🫤
