I bought the APR PEX Intake I actually like the look of it better than the CF one because it goes with the overall look in the engine compartment of black plastic, it just seems more fitting.
PLUS it costs $240 compared to the CF W/pipe over $600, and with that saving I bought the APR Intake Pipe and still costs a couple hundred less than the CF set up.
Definitely a better deal for sure. That would have likely been my choice as well if it was an option a few years ago.

If you are looking for power an open intake is not the move with the ea888 platform. That being said, it looks awesome!

@@dante2101 it’s rather marginal but it will help maintain that power level longer since it will be less likely to heat soak and also is always pulling fresh air from the front of the car rather than a mix of fresh air and hot engine bay air.
Truth! I have a stage 1 tune scheduled from APR and they recommended a Cobb cold air intake which has a box around it. You can hear it but it’s not as pronounced but the heat shield and closed box works to sheiks entirely hot air and I live in Florida
FYI, the stage 1 apr tune is going to increase my HP to 320-336
Im looking into a CAI.. although where I live there is a lot of rain... thats what holds me back.... Im stage 2 tune, full exhaust, FMIC, coild overs and brake kit at the moment but no CAI... Just a drop in filter. Did you consider this factor when u bought yours? or there is not much rain where u live?.... I think swapping out the CAI in rainy season could be an option too....
I’m getting a TCR muffler installed on my rabbit next week. It’ll be my first big mod. Intake might have to come next..Sounds so good
Nice! Definitely get an intake. Sounds even better in person. I've been considering going with a Clubsport S muffler. How long did it take for the TCR muffler to ship?
@@BostonAutoBlog The Clubsport S only fits on mk7 GTIs. TCR muffler is essentially the same thing as that but fits on mk7.5 GTIs. I ordered mine from Shopdap.com. It took around 41 days from the day I placed my order to the day I received it.
That’s not bad. I saw the 60-90 day shipping times and started looking at full exhaust systems. Thanks for the heads up on that. Been getting offers for months on Clubsport S mufflers. That would have been a waste of money.
@@BostonAutoBlog No problem. Yeah definitely do some research before buying anything. Another thing to note. For some reason for the 2019 GTI and up, VW decided to change the piping diameter after the resonator to 60mm, so if you decide to get the TCR muffler, you’ll need a reducer or a clamp to make it fit. Both the TCR muffler and previous GTIs (2018 and older) used 65 mm piping after res. At least that’s what I’ve read online, I’ll know for sure when I go to the exhaust shop next week.
@@BostonAutoBlog I considered getting a full exhaust system too but ultimately I decided I wanted to keep the car civil for daily driving. Tcr muffler adds more sporty sound to the car but doesn’t make it obnoxious or droney, which is what I was going for
Do you need a secondary air filter to put on an aftermarket intake? For a 2019 mk7.5 gti
And let me tell you, just checking the filter on the closed box is an ordeal-many screens to be removed. But it looks cool.

I was in the Natick area last week very briefly. Not usually out that way unless I'm filming at a dealer off of Rt 9
To do the same mod I only need the APR Open Intake? O r that extra carbon fiber tube is also necessary? If it is do you have the link for that one, I want to make the exact same mod on my MK7. Thank you!!
I’ve seen people use the APR air intake with the stock inlet pipe and also searched on the forums and saw that you can use the plastic OEM inlet pipe which is why I had considered just buying the cold air intake. I’m glad I opted for the carbon fiber inlet pipe though.

I bought the APR open air intake for my fiancé’s GTI and now I’m kinda feeling like I forgot to buy the rest of the stuff.

Will this intake fit without the carbon fiber piping?
I've seen other GTI owners use the stock inlet pipe with this cold air intake. You should be fine without it.

U thinking of voiding that 6 year warranty ? I have a 2018 for 3 years 8 months going on 4. Placed on coil overs and aftermarket wheels one week after getting it and tints 6 months after. Haven’t modded it since 😂

DP+stock cat back = best bang for buck

@@vr6gls yeah I am a VW noob but I have seen that trend. I guess all I was getting at is (at least at the time of this video) both the GTI and GLI were running the Gen 3 EA888
