I started playing last year. I often went to my local par3 course to practice my short game.
One day I went to the first tee and there was a sizable queue. People were walking off and going to the second to avoid a mother and son who looked like it was the first time they'd ever picked up a club.
The first hole is around 100 yards these people were on about their 10th shot and weren't even half way to the green.
By the time I got to the tee they were about 30 yards down the fairway looking for a ball they'd hit into a ditch.
There was already 3 more pairs behind me waiting so I decided I'd paid to play 9 holes I'm playing 9 holes so I walked down to the mother to explain golfing etiquette to her. I explained that they cannot hold people up and they should either step aside and let people play through or pick up and go to the next tee And let people through as they catch them.
All I got was told to FO and wait my turn.
Back on the Tee the groups waiting behind said "Just hit it mate F*%k em" I decided as I could hit the green with wedge or 9 iron I'd play. However by this time they were messing around in the bunker in front of the green. I decided I'd chip an 8 iron to make sure I got there and didn't risk hitting them. Then dropped it straight into the trees behind the green. The ball clattering through the trees must have triggered them because they picked up and went to the 2nd.
I walked down chipped on and 2 putted for a 4. then on the second they were faffing about on the tee. Again I explained that now would be a good opportunity to allow me to play through Then "Karen" decided to have a go back telling me she'd go and complain and get me thrown off the coarse for harassing her."your ruining my day" she said
To which I relied "Oh contrare, You're ruining mine and everybody elses day with you misplaced sense of entitlement!, so I'll save you the bother I'm going back to the club house now to report you " Which I did.
Meanwhile the group behind me were now on the 2nd tee so I asked if I could join them to make a 4 ball which they agreed
We soon caught "Karen & Son" up on the 4th tee Where someone from the club house was "Having a word" She waved us through!

Cheers, Miles. Lots of folks get their introduction to golf and their first bit of training from CZcams videos, I truly hope they come across your video. These lessons are so important when taking up the game.

I agree with some points, but you need to settle a wee bit. This is the kind of attitude that can put people off starting out. Golf has evolved and golf is for everyone.

Totally agree with everything you say. So many fourballs at our club don't let others through. Also, if possible, courses should send out marshals to keep play flowing.

Much like some of the seniors ;)
Being stuck behind an impromptu monthly medal is a genuinely painful experience.

Nice one mate. Priorities straight as well. Fix your divots and pitch marks, and someone else's if you can. Everybody works together to maintain the beauty and condition of the course.

Why is it, whenever you catch the group in front and they let you play through. You duck hook it OOB or slice it into the woods?

Well said... First video I've watched of yours. Golfers etiquette is bloody awful in a lot of places I play. People have no clue or common sense. To the point I often think they're doing it deliberately because they feel entitled... it's infuriating and hard not to let it ruin your game and day out... the fact you've got members who are just 💩 is just an indication of where a lot of clubs are... rant over...

The thing that gets me is hitting into the group ahead. I don't care how slow they are, it's not just bad etiquette but it's dangerous.

There should be a trade off, do all the decent things and then we'll let you wear normal clothes like cargo shorts and hoodies,, hell might even let you change your shoes in the car park... fuss in the right places.

    Good video.
The time some people take is excruciating.
Had a member tell me 4 hours 17 was acceptable for a weds morning 3 ball just a couple of weeks ago.
    Beggars belief
