I own and carry a Performance Center Shield 9mm, and love the little gun. I've always been a 1911 guy though, and this one is nice. For around $1k, give or take, I'd add that to my 1911 collection. Next up... "All you can eat."

Back in the 1990's I had a black Chiefs Special in .45ACP. Loved that gun. Not a 1911 but this gun reminds me of it. I love steel and alloy guns. I have polymer guns but I have no real love for them. My 1911's are my favorites.

A very underrated 1911 manufacturer, everyone praises Kimber and colt but s&w makes a fine 1911

For folks like me that have to live with restrictive firearms laws, this 9mm 1911 means you can carry 10 rounds in in a platform that has stood the test of time for over 100 years.
Personally, I would rather buy this than the Shield.

I think you will find this to be a very accurate pistol. I have a Kimber Ultra Carry II in 9mm and it is a tack driver. That is one sweet looking pistol. I am looking forward to the shooting impressions video. Love your channel.
I had a chance to shoot this along side of the bul armory sas ll ultralight 1911, i went with the bul but not because this was a bad pistol, 1911's thanks to the grip safety can be carried with a super light trigger cocked and locked and though i found this pistols to be one fine firearm i simply can shoot the bul much better and it's because of the trigger, at the time i was the difference was because it's series 80 and the bul is series 70 so ever since i have avoided the series 80 1911's, a close friend has the kimber pro carry which is series 80 but has a better trigger than this S@W for some reason, however this S@W is a very very nice pistol more so than the kimber in my opinion i just wasn't as good with follow ups. Fast forward to 2023 and i still want this S@W just not first.

I’m wondering if you agree the Sig 938 makes the compact 1911 obsolete? Maybe a full size and a micro compact is enough?

Ronald Renken it’s a standard officer length frame. Not specially scaled down for 9mm. This is a good thing for aftermarket bits n bobs
Best sub compact 9mm. The Ruger Lc9s 9mm pro. Best trigger. Best size. For Conceal Carry. 9 shot extended and 7 shot for even base plate. Hogue Hardball jr. slip on grip. Most underated 9mm on the market. Cheaper one. EC9. Check em' out! Shawn.

You did a very good product review of this pistol. I’ve never seen this model before. Would love to see a follow up on the shooting ability of it. Please give prices on your reviewed weapons. Price point in other areas are good to know. Thanks for sharing.

@apmauk why? Trigger weight is not nearly as important as feel (within reason of course).
Thank you for doing a size comparison with the Shield. Great options from S&W, but for the price, I'll stick with the Shield.
The trigger on this piece is far better than that mushy striker fire garbage.
Federal 9BP LE 115Gr JHP would be what i'd feed that nice piece.
Get that to the range pronto!! Let's see if it shoots as good as it looks. While S&W PC firearms are nice, as of late even their QC has slipped. Read the forums, it's no secret budget cuts have affected everything. That being said if it shoots good I'd consider it over the Shield even for the cost.

How that Scadmium and finish holding up I have many high end 1911 but steel I have concerns that after many rounds the material will wear and the slide to frame will become loose and sloppy.

I have one of the first 45 acp 3 in.with bull barrel it's the model U made my magnum research made in Israel with 30 lines walnut grips and its,accurate and beautifully made, the barrel is stainless steel .carry it everyday in my air Marshall shoulder holster and at times with urban carry leather holster on my belt outside with right amount of kant

The smith is a single-action single-stack. Bersa is a DA/SA double-stack.

I'd rather splash an extra $200 and get a Dan Wesson ECO which is not just superior in build quality, but also in getting a set of Trijicon Night Sights and some excellent, highly textured g10 grips. Just MO. YMMV. But i am a huge fan of carrying Officer sized 1911's that are made right. The reliability of them in 2020 is fantastic.

Seriously, when it comes to answers about legality try CZcams's parent company, Google. You could also check the California Handgun Roster, the manufacturer, or ask your local dealer if they can order the gun, all far better sources than asking random people on the internet.

I just do not see the advantages of a 9mm chambered 1911....... I would most DEFINITELY carry something like this in 45 auto but in 9mm? I am under the impression that you would want to load it as hot as it could take. Possibly Buffalo Bore Outdoorsman 147gr LeadFlatNose @ 1100fps, or even the Federal 115 JHP @ 1300fps along with 3 spare magazines???

P938 is a modified Colt Mustang design. It lacks the safety grip. It's smaller, but also snappier. S&W's version of it would be the CSX.
Single stack 9mm's are something crazy to me, you're getting rid of one of the biggest advantages of 9mm that is the high ammo capacity per magazine
The advantage is it’s kind of hard to conceal a colt 45
