- The plants required for public planting have been grown in the Hirschstetten flower gardens since the 1950s. Since the production of plants became more and more unnecessary through purchasing, it was decided to redesign the areas and open them up to visitors. Since 2002, the facility has been open between mid-March and mid-October and is used as a resort. In addition to the palm house, the 60,000 m2 florarium in the publicly accessible complex includes themed show gardens (“Donaustadt Wine Hill”, “Garden of Provence”, “Chinese or TCM Garden”, “Prehistoric Garden”), a modeled traditional farm and several small ones zoological areas (wild cat enclosure, goats on the farm, turtle garden, insectarium in the palm house) can be visited.
