    One question I have is, can Thinlinc provide connect to a Wayland-based desktop session? Or is it currently stuck in X11-only land?

    • @MartinOstlund
      @MartinOstlund Před 4 měsíci

      ThinLinc does not require any local running display server. It ships with Xvnc, and is therefore X11 only. This also means that it's not possible to directly connect to any local graphical session already running.

      @@MartinOstlund Sounds like Thinlinc is going to have to evolve to support Wayland in the coming years. Remote access is one area where Wayland lags behind and Thinlinc could make a difference.

    It would be interesting to compare Thinlinc Terminal Server with NoMachine Terminal Server side by side :D

    So does this replaces remmina and xrdp?

    • @lsdowdle
      @lsdowdle Před 4 měsíci

      Yes, it provides the server and client applications for remote access. One thing that Thinlinc offers that xrdp doesn't, is a web-based HTML5 client.... so you don't even have to install anything on the client side if you don't want to.
