    There is so much artistic value in your choices of ephemera. Classic mythology in advertising, religious iconography, chromolithography, different fonts, fashion, cultural trends, and on and on. Great teaching pieces to share and inspire tomorrow’s collectors.

    Great finds. I love that beautiful hand display you made with the broken robin's egg, looks stunning. Love everything you picked up but the bag and the frame are my favourite. Have a good week❤

    Beautiful finds, as always! I had a piece similar that I couldn't get cleaned in the ridges inside. I added some coarse salt and tiny pieces of crushed ice. Just a thought and it worked very well. Tfs❤

    Suggestion: maybe pipe cleaners would work in getting the dried pepper from the small bottle (?)

    Hi. I'm catching up on your last few videos. Just got back from a few days vacation. You have found some beautiful things. My favorites here are the glass frame. I love where you placed it. And the purse, love the colors of it. Both are stunning! Prewar paste/rhinestone "gems" were made using lead and other wet ingredients and then pressed into molds.

    • @TarnishedTreasures1
      @TarnishedTreasures1  Před 3 měsíci

      So interesting about paste. Now, to be able to tell the difference! Hope the vacation was nice!

    Old bottle collector here. Let the bottle with the pepper residue soak with water and a drop or two of degreaser dish detergent overnight. Then you can add small dried navy beans. Put your thumb over the top and agitate briskly and swirl the beans. You may have to repeat this several times. Same process with larger dried beans for larger bottles. You can try different cleaners for tougher residues. Can use the same process with vases and planters. I have cleaned with everything from nut picks to the finest grade steel wools, but not on glass. Bar keeper’s friend being my choice of abrasives. Good luck! A horse racing or equestrian enthusiast would pay a pretty penny for that horseshoe pin. Sweet!

      @@TarnishedTreasures1 you need one of those chopper hoppers to store the denture tabs in. I forgot about that one. Score!

    Love the postcard and so glad you read it to us!!❤ ooooh! That basket! Everything you bring home is lovely! Yes! I was thinking the salt cellar with the robin’s egg blue pieces. The pepper stain looks pretty cool actually, and the purse is to die for. Maybe you can tinker around at your pretty desk soon. I would love to watch you glue some shells or beads or do a watercolor decoupage page so I can live vicariously! I still didn’t glue my jewelry down but I bought the Aleene’s! I’m getting closer!😂

    Beautiful, beautiful finds. I love the picture frame. I'm not sure that it would be as pretty hanging on the wall. Something about the light coming through it as it sits on the table is so lovely.🩷🧡🩷

    Bottle cleaning suggestion: save some of that plastic mesh that some fruit and vegetables come in. Stuff the bottle with the mesh and use the handle of a wooden spoon or something else that will fit in the hole to agitate the mesh around. Then pull out the mesh with tweezers or other tool.

    To clean the small bottle: fill with warm water and washing up liquid and push a small rag or piece of cloth in it with a screwdrivr or skewer until cloth touches the inside of the bottle everywhere then twist it around with the screwdriver to wipe the inside clean. Remove cloth when finished. To make this easy:always leave a bit out of the bottle so u can hold and pull it out.

    The 925 marcasite pin with the light blue stone in the middle is just lovely 😊 I also love the horseshoe pin with the turquoise coloured glass 😍 Always love glass bottles with silver tops - and those 2 are great. That brass basket was so unique. 😍😊

    What if you took a pipe cleaner, curled it up at the end & put it down into the jar to scrub out the pepper? Or possibly something gritty like (Epsom) salt with a little water in the bottle & shake it vigorously?
