Long considered the most popular song from The Residents' iconic DUCK STAB! album, Constantinople's catchy chorus sticks like duct tape in an empty brain.
I’m 24. My introduction to The Residents was when my friend was having a birthday party sophomore year of high school. He invited myself and some mutual friends and we were all into the arts. He had a Residents themed party where his mother made eyeball cupcakes and we all got together in his living room and he made us watch the Icky Flix DVD. That experience changed my life forever and how I would view music and the concept of music all together. If you’re reading this Charles, I love you and thank you. The Residents forever.
@Captain Bruh he was watching me and my wife play with these,... spiders? I guess you would say. Mechanical. They were in a box so they wouldn't fall off the edge of a table. And you could mess with it and get it to do things. I know it sounds weird.... but for real. So I feel this person looking over my shoulder watching me play with these weird toys. I look at the person and sorta smile and nod. I noticed his lanyard was different from the gift shop employees lanyards though. I stand up and do a double take on the guy who I thought was a gift shop employee monitoring me, and I have this realization. Its Hardy Fox!! And the tour manager Hein Fokker is right there with him! Hein took a picture of my wormwood tattoo that I have and I talked to hardy for a good 5-7 minutes. Got to tell him where we were from. How far of a drive. What album I started on. What my favorite album or albums were. He was very chill and very appreciative of the respect. When I approached him I said "Are you Hardy Fox?" He says "Yes I Am." I said "oh my gosh, can I shake your hand?" He says "Yes you may" and that moment, that moment was one of the greatest moments of my life. I shook one of the greatest musicians who ever lived, hand. And it was such an organic and laid back convo. I got to tell him my brother Barry was the reason I was there too. I went to Memphis Tennessee Talking Light 2010 and Chicago 2011. Best tours ever. Lol. I just got emotional.
@Captain Bruh for sure!! Very cool! You ever heard of a band called legendary pink dots? You like kraftwerk? Tobacco? Have you seen the residents in concert?
Wow, the picture is so crisp! I remember watching this in 240 back in the early days of youtube. I remember even buying one or two of their albums, as well as their Freak PC game, after randomly stumbling upon this and a few other of their MVs.
Only been listening since 1980, but for what it's worth, I always had 'Constantinople', 'Walter Westinghouse'. 'Whoopy Snorp' and 'Diskomo' as some of my favourites. And I've had the pleasure to catch The Residents (ie. Homer Flynn III and Hardy Fox [RIP 2016] + guest musicians) five times since they performed 'The Mole Show' in Copenhagen in June 1983. My 6th (and final?) show will be in 3 weeks (Feb. 6, 2023) in said city, at Loppen in the "freestate" of Christiania. /J, Sweden
This is a 1970's shitpost
if this means Residents videos will finally be up in HD i'm all for it

His mom sounds cute, not in like a weird way, but the fact she made everyone eyeball cupcakes.
I met Hardy Fox in 2011 in Chicago in the gift shop at the art museum. It was mind blowing.

@@LFrench it was wild. I couldn't believe my eyes. Especially since they are very low key. I half expected Hardy to excuse himself from me. Hahahaha

That’s one of my favourite songs you’ve made up there with Rest aria and Margaret freeman ! But that music video man!
i don't think man was intended to make out the lead singer's tongue in such great detail.
