- Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Edward C. Byers Jr., a member of SEAL Team 6, receives the Medal of Honor from President Barack Obama during a White House ceremony, Feb. 29, 2016. Byers received the award for his actions while serving as part of a team that rescued an American civilian held hostage in Afghanistan in December 2012.
I'm sitting here, in my beautiful home, with my two daughters and wife playing outside in the sun. I sit here with no worries of death, no worries of attack, I sit here in pure appreciation of these men, and all who serve. Thank you for allowing me this life, thank you for putting yourselves in front of danger so that it may not reach our children, our loved ones. Thank you
I'm not an American. But I have huge respect for people of this country. You inspire us by your bravery ,humility and determination. Thank you :)
I'm a retired Army Ranger and I am in awe of this warrior. This is a certified hero and legitimate bad ass. Thank you for your service, sacrifices, and your tears for your fallen teammates water the seeds of patriotism in this country.
Had the opportunity to meet Byers down In ft pierce and get a picture with him, was such a honor to meet a warrior of his caliber
Had the privilege of meet Chief Byers today....Absolute honor
2 Purple heart, 5 Bronze stars with valor and a Medal of honor.. Well, atleast I got my Camporee ribbon...
For anyone to get a medal of honor is the best of the best.
It's gotta be a hard decision to narrow down just one to receive this honor. So many brave souls out there but only one gets chosen. Much respect!
what an amazing life to live. Thank you SEALS.
A TRUE BAD ASS !!!! IM SO PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN WITH THESE BAD ASSES WATCHING MY BACK... GOD BLESS ALL YOUR SOULS BAD ASSES !!!
I have had the privilege and honor to meet multiple Medal of Honor recipients in Atlantic City New Jersey.
Thank you for your service to our country and everyone in it. I'm also very sorry for your loss. The loss of a friend, a teammate, a brother is something even I can't put into words myself
The finest of the fine... No greater love hath a man than he lay down his life for a friend.
hate it or love it,the underdogs are on top.i love the seals
What's really amazing is watching the relation between Mike Thornton and Tommy Norris. "Big Mike" seems to always STILL be Norris's protector. In interviews with them both, Mike will have his arm around him. Amazing...
jmho but Chief Byers has expressed more courage and dedication to service and country then have those presenting or observing this esteemed honor on this day. Thank you sir for your service to America...
Thank you for your service Edward
Amen fellow warrior . . .& prayers to the families of our fallen.
Apparently SEAL Development Group is not a covert unit the way SEAL Team 6 was when Richard Marcinko was the Captain back in the 80's! Basically they didn't even officially exist! Kudos to Senior Chief Byers!!! He saved American lives that night!!!
Thank You Sir for your service! Solid Mike P nailed it!
