Very enjoyable movie, lots of twists and turns. Sad though, I kept thinking of that poor young man doctor who disappeared from his job at the CDC. It seems obvious that he was murdered there. He was working on the Ebola and other deadly viruses. No one saw him leave work the day he disappeared. Some reports said he felt ill, but if h was quarantined, or died accidently at the CDC, the officials there would have told the police and his parents. His car and wallet were still in his apartment, as well as his little dog. if he went anywhere, he would have walked or there would be a record if he called a taxi service. His body has not been found after extensive searches of the woods around the CDC and the area near his apartment. It's obvious he died - or is being held secretly at the CDC. Terrible. Also about 6 months ago it was revealed that a branch of the US gov. was running ads in a Ukranian newspaper saying that they would pay for DNA samples from people - but they had to be of Russian ethnicity!!! There was speculation that they wanted Russian DNA to create an ethnically specific deadly virus for germ warfare. Ethnic specificity already exists in weaponized viruses. It's terrible what's going on in these places. This movie seems to reflect the real dark side of these government-run bio-hazard labs, only their nefarious agendas are different from the one this movie portrays. I feel so sorry for the parents of the young doctor who is still missing who worked on dangerous viruses at the CDC and no one knows what happened to him.
Don't feel sorry for the CDC doctor. I'm sure he was on some kind of operative assignment. Since both his parents were deeply involved in Military and the CDC its self.

Was actually looking for Robin Cook's Invasion but ended up here watching this very good movie. Still resonates today after the whole Ebola pandemic in 2014 and the devastation of Corona in 2020. Enjoyed this!
I really dig the message at the end about thousands of viruses waiting in the jungles and forests to protect Earth against man being invasive. I believe the Earth is living and viruses are part of her immune system.

It was originally just a place not a virus. Ebola was fully entrenched in the bat population for some time and would have eventually found it's way into the expanding human population without stupid mistakes like these. 8 minutes into the movie: a doctor that's just become a field investigator, doesn't know anything about negative air pressure to help keep contagions in the lab and doesn't know she doesn't have to remove her clothes to enter said lab...but she's a doctor. 19 minutes in an a doctor doesn't want to move patients, with an unknown illness, into isolation and away from other patients. It's almost like he doesn't know better. (Those patients have probably already infected the other patients in the same ward so unsure how segregating those with the unknown illness would help at this point. Wouldn't it be better just to keep those patients in that ward so the contagion wouldn't spread to more areas of the hospital?)

Cov snuck in and arrived in New Orleans on the red-eye this morning. 8 am 4 cases; noon - get call cancelling dr's appt cause hospital now infected. My husband has COPD and is 81, I have diabetes and chronic bronchitis. We are afraid. Went out today to stock up for an extended home confinement but they were out of stuff so will have to go again tomorrow to finish up. Then, lock the gate, shutter the street-side windows and hope for the best. This is a good film but its not scary at all because virus doesn't really get loose so I'm gonna watch it for the second time and let it lull me into a sense of security and optimism.
I will put money down on it that the Stir Fry she made didn't come out like she wanted. It wasn't like the Chinese Restaurants she loves so. The vegetables were probably too crunchy and not cooked right. To do it right, the way the Chinese do it, you must first blanch them in chicken stock for at least 90 seconds. This was a freebie.
