Thank you for mentioning Princess Anne. There's never anything said about her. That's a shame she's really something, doesn't put herself out there for rumors or scandal. She seems to be a devoted, loyal, and hard worker. I hope one day someone will confirm this or legitimize my observation.
I’ve read before that Zara was upset because apparently her mother (The Princess Royal) made the comment about what Archie would look like. It makes sense to me although I could see Prince Phillip making the comment as well. But regardless I believe if it was said it was not malicious.

She should know at her age that you do not comment on people's race or other physical features in any way which might possibly offend anyone. She needed to mind her business or say something positive.

@@kidaria1333 they can't drop titles they never had. None of Ann's children had titles as Ann had no power to bequeath them any and their father at the time (it is alleged) turned a title down. Whether he was even offered a title in the first place is not anything we can prove. Personally I think it is highly doubtful that the Queen would expose herself to tossing out titles which others might openly reject. As Queen, she would have been made perfectly aware as to whether the recipient would be interested and approving before making any offers. Ann's people need to drop this face-saving story of her refusing titles for her children. She very likely did no such thing. Her long standing service if anything does not highlight her disregard for the monarchical life, if anything, it reinforces her serious attachment to it. Her children on the other hand seem content within themselves as they are quite free from obligations of service. It cannot be however, that being the oldest grandchildren, they enjoy curtseying and bowing to their younger cousins. Ann might have given anything for them to not have to adhere to such protocols. Pity the Queen didn't fight for her own daughter then to have the rights that Charlotte has now. As a woman monarch it should have been the first rule to go!

I believe that Prince Harry should remember his conversations about his life to the children who were experiencing depression and anxiety. No one gets through our lives without hurt and some personal disasters to our mental health and life. He's been very upfront about it, even the children he has worked with. I heard this on a TV show about Prince Harry's work with children. Let's face it we don't just have one disappointment in life but some people more than others. Money and position doesn't change this.
Maybe it doesn't make it go away but position may intensify it (especially if you are depending on someone who is using you for her social climbing) and money may make it a bit easier (certainly there is an amount of money required below which hard experiences are intensified eg selling your children to get money to stay alive)@ Heather Anderson

Stopped watching the crown years ago. When H & M signed their Netflix deal we cancelled our subscription. We will not buy any of their books. We will not financially support them in any way. Not everyone in the U.S. loves them. They have nothing substantive or constructive to contribute to any social issue in my opinion. We enjoy you channel very much! Thank you.

I believe Richard Eden is incorrect when he says that all the proceeds are going to charity, so it doesn't matter to Harry how well the book sells. What I read is that all profits after a certain point are going to charity. Profits being determined after Harry gets his $$ and various other things. So while it is true that Harry may not care how well the book sells, it's because he'll get his guaranteed $$ off the top before anything goes to charity.
I read that in America, and in Delaware where their 'foundation' is registered, that only 5% has to go to charity. I don't know if that is true or not.
But HazNo said he will donate proceeds so we shall see. They seem to be better at pledging than actually giving.
If we judge by last year's charitable Archwell donations, they were less than $50,000. So I highly doubt much, if any money will be going to charity from this book
They set the charity up in a state that allows only 5% to be used for charity. They can pull the rest of the money for themselves. Grifters.

Exactly. My 92 year old mom & I were discussing this yesterday (after a clip of a recent interview of Harry's),, and she said the exact same thing. It's just ridiculous, and Harry continues to see himself as a victim. He found a wife who shares his sentiment.....'WOE IS ME!'. It's so sad to see adults act like entitled children. What a mess they have created. They could have left the UK and left well enough alone. They could have created their own little private life successfully; however, they continue to choose to find ways to fuel the fire. It's like they can't help themselves. They are striving to not only contribute to chaos, they create it!
Don't forget that Harry is apparently going to read the book for audio sales. Can you imagine him reading a book that is essentially a tale of his woes? I think that nothing would repel me more.

I am an American and think it is reprehensible for Netflix to do what they have done to the Royal Family. I do not subscribe to Netflix and never will - just like I will never buy any book by Harry and/or Migraine. I bought Tom Bower's book and will buy Valentine Low's book when it comes out in America.

DIANA GAVE UP HER ROYAL PROTECTION thinking that the Palace would be spying on her. She was advised to keep the protection and she refused. The Palace couldn't force Diana but they insisted that she must have protection when William and Harry were with her. It is acceptable to like Diana but this way of treating a 35 year old woman as a child who is not responsible for her actions can be troubling. I am at the point of dismissing the opinions of many of these so called experts.
I was also surprised to hear the “expert” say that. Diana chose not to have the Royal security service, it was her decision.
The same has been with her son. No claim of self responsibility at all.

American here. I have for years been keenly interested in the royals and I loved watching seasons 1-4 of The Crown (for the most part) knowing full-well that it was a fictional portrayal with an unknown amount of artistic license being taken. That being said, I could not care less about what's in Harry's book. I can't imagine what the fuss is all about. I can't imagine what shocking revelations there are which anyone with any common sense would believe. And I would never reward Harry's (and Megan's) behavior by buying his book. I usually have compassion for someone who's in pain but it's quite a struggle to do so with Harry who really has had just about everything - The Best of everything- handed to him, literally, on a silver platter. His mother adored and loved him and showed it. His father adored and loved him and showed it. So, he was second in line, the spare. Boo hoo. Call the wambulance for him.
Although I agree with you, carol. Harry lost his mum as a young boy in a terrible, sensationalized tragedy.

For some reason, once they introduced princess Diana to the series I lost interest. It was difficult watching how much Charles hated her. We understand that a 19 year old and 34 year old shoukd not marry especially since they never even dated. It makes me resent the whole monarchy and especially the queen for forcing Charles to do that. If they can show all that, they can show what an idiot Harry is. I'm sure Netflix will pretend Harry should be the heir, because HE JUST WANTS IT SOOO BAD.

I am American, and I don't know anyone who is interested in what they have to say. The consensus of my friends and family, is that they 'want their cake and eat it too',. Many have the feeling that M basically has H wrapped around her little finger....and her sense of entitlement is feeding into H's views. It seems very toxic. I don't know how well the book will sell in the states, but I certainly won't be buying it.

I am ashamed to admit this but...I started watching Netflix at the beginning of the pandemic. Watched The Crown and sadly, this American thought it was primarily factual, and worse, I'm old! Should have known better! Only after I went to work talking about it did someone point out it was "make-believe". I won't watch it again for two reasons: 1) I have to believe it was a deliberate attempt to pull the wool over people's eyes/distort history and, 2) Gave up Netflix with the Meghan/Harry stuff. Won't contribute my few dollars to anything supporting those two.

I do think that people do NOT always differentiate between fact and fiction with "The Crown." Because it is close to events many people assume it is factual even though it obviously is NOT sadly. Sadly MM convinced H. that his family was horrid and he was dealt a horrible hand. H. really had it all. H. could choose the charities and public appearances, and have less restrictions due to not being the direct heir.
Harry still could have had notoriety, could live a life of luxury, be the most loved Royal, disappear for periods of time during the year and have a much less demanding schedule. Princess Anne was not the direct heir but look what she's done with her life. H. looked much happier prior to meeting MM then now. He looked genuinely happy in his family ( even if there were things he didn't like). MM came along and convinced him he'd been slighted etc.
I certainly support them stripping the titles from H & M since their titles are the only thing that makes them relevant.

And not much time has passed since the Queen's death. She was loved by many all over the world. The woman's statement that Diana being stripped of her HRH title could have contributed to her death bc she didn't have the police protection she would have otherwise had -- I don't think that's right. Diana could have had the police protection all along, but she refused it. Refused it over and over. What I have read is that if she had been under protection, she would have never been allowed to get in that car. But again she refused the protection and the people who were concerned about the condition of the driver, for example, had no authority to stop her. Point being, she didn't die because she was stripped of her HRH title.
She also wasn't wearing a seat belt. The one person in the car who was, and was sitting in the worst place for that kind of accident, lived.
You are correct. In my opinion, thanks to Bashir, she didn't trust anyone and refused. I believe I have read, that on the night of the accident there were two proper security cars ( range rovers) with security staff. They were refused and told to stay as decoys. An argument occured, security trying to insist they were used. Security lost the discussion but a compromise was made, which is why there was one official security member in the car with them. (IMO)

The problem with hyper fictionalization of historical events is that today’s educational systems are so terrible that the younger generation does not understand it is fiction and that’s not how things happened. It’s one thing to imagine & portray how conversations would have happened but entirely different to repeatedly fabricate events from a more modern era that never happened. People get that the conversation may be fiction obviously no one knows what was really said and that there may be drama created between characters but they don’t get an entire event is fiction and never happened. Given there are trigger warnings for the most inane things these days there’s no reason why they shouldn’t put up a disclaimer that it’s not just a “dramatization” of actual events but actually fictional events that never occurred.
Netflix will be well aware that lots of stupid people will believe that "The Crown" is true but they don't care because, the more sensational it is, the more stupid people will watch it and to hell with the people whose lives will be affected by it. You can see how Netflix and the Markles have formed a business relationship but no wonder Netflix are now desperate for new subscribers. They're on their way down.

I'm sure much of the events reported are tweaked. No one in America believes the Crown is fact. We know all about fictionalized events. The Brits need to just relax and not watch it. Quite agree. It's all very well to say 'everybody knows it's fiction', but that's the trouble, 'everybody' doesn't. Especially those from overseas, who were not 'on the spot' when it all happened, and young people who were not even born or have no knowledge of history. Many people will believe it as though it's a documentary.

At c19 minutes, Richard Eden said that Henry has said that he's going to give 'all' proceeds from the sale of the book Spare to charity. That is incorrect. Henry's stated through his publisher that a specified and relatively small amount will be given to two charities: $1,500,000.00 to Sentabale and £300,00.00 to WellChild. I don't think that's much considering what he was reported paid for the book.
If Prince Harry remains number 5 in the succession this would mean that Archie Mountbatten-Windsor as number 6 would require the King‘s approval to marry. Do you agree? And by the way I love the show and I could listen to Rebecca English for hours ❤

'Woe is me' is the phrase that immediately came to mind when it popped up in my Audible pre-order list and I saw the word 'Spare', obviously alluding to the other somewhat familiar phrase 'heir and a spare'. Harry left with Meghan to "escape' the press intrusion his mother faced, although it now seems that they wanted just as much publicity, but on their own terms, and despite wanting to leave their 'royal' lives behind, they don't mind in the least retaining their connections to the family when it secures them a new book deal or self-depricating interview with a high-profile talk show host. If Harry really wants no part of his previous life, then he needs to stop all of this now, and genuinely carve out a separate path for him and his family. His father will always love him of course, as a father should, but watching how he throws them under a bus constantly to serve his own purpose is just cruel and unfair. When he and Meghan chose to release the 'bombshell' interview as his grandfather lay in a hospital bed, no doubt knowing he was unlikely to get better (because he informed the press at the time that he was receiving constant updates), that really was the straw that broke the camel's back. When an elderly person is so frail, any stress at all is likely to hasten things along, but on that magnitude, it must have been devastating. Enough is enough. Just as I will never watch The Crown, I will never read this book.
