Not too long ago, I was wondering if Olympia Dukakis was/is still alive. I was probably watching "Steel Magnolias" on Amazon Prime that made me think of her. That movie is how I found out about her. I also liked her in "Look Who's Talking" and "Look Who's Talking 2". May she rest in peace.

I'd seen this movie many times before I discovered I was a diabetic. The first time my sugar bottomed out, it was almost exactly the way Julia portrayed it. Even the eerie music as she started to feel "off" matched - it felt like reality was being sort of bent, warped in a way. And you don't feel hungry, or anything like that, you just start shaking and can't control your body, like you can't calm yourself down. So the snapping at Truvy and M'Lynn and all...spot on.

Julia Roberts mentions that she'd just finished a film with Richard Gere called "3000." That film was later renamed to "Pretty Woman." In its original incarnation, it had a very dark ending. The original ending had her character, Vivian Ward, being shoved out of a car and, according to Roberts, "someone threw the money on top of her, as memory serves, and just drove away, leaving her in some dirty alley.”
Once Disney got a hold of it, they reworked the script and made it into a Cinderella story, with a happy ending.

"It was the most generous thing I ever saw an actress do." WOW! First of all, hearing Shirley MacLaine give such reverence to Sally Field is just absolutely beautiful. But what she is saying is truly awe-inspiring. Conjure in your mind Sally's performance during the graveyard scene and exactly how powerful it is, how profoundly it impacts you no matter how many times you watch it. Now think about the fact that she performed it again, and again, and again, for every single one of her scene partners so that their close up shots reflected the authenticity of the scene even though she wasn't in those specific shots. That is total dedication to one's craft, to the job at hand, and yes as Shirley said, it was very generous of her to continue emotionally extending herself like that to her colleagues. Absolutely top tier work ❤

The end scene shows the street where my parents brought home my older brother. The two kids fidgeting in church are twins, Todd and Tracy. We went to the same church and we're distant relatives. The paperboy at the beginning is a boy one of my younger sisters went to school with. We went a few times to the Festival of Lights. It's really something. There's this big hill going down to the river, and you just bring your blankets and spread out. Watching this movie is really like going home.

God is so good!!!! God Loves You Perfectly
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
      Romans 5:8-9
God is a God of forgiveness. He knows you perfectly and still loves you perfectly. We are slaves to the idea that if someone sees our flaws, they won’t love us anymore. Well, while that may be true in human relationships, God is not like that.
God sees all our imperfections, failings, and flaws on Jesus, at the cross. Our sins and ugliness do not turn Him off. In fact, to Him they are occasions to demonstrate His grace and forgiveness through the blood of His Son, who has removed all our sins at Calvary. Jesus came, died, was buried and rose again on the third day, to prove that your sins are forgiven! According to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)! And He is coming back to take you home with Him (all you have to do is to believe that Jesus is who He says He is and that He did what He said He did and you will be Saved)!
So, don’t be embarrassed about your flaws, mistakes, and imperfections. God knows your weaknesses better than you do, and He loves you just the same. His Word reminds us that Jesus is not someone “who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses.” Instead, Jesus was tempted in all points, yet He was without sin (Heb. @). He understands every temptation and every trial that you are going through. He is not disappointed with you, and He is not waiting for you to live up to a set of dos and don’ts before He forgives and loves you. The Bible says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him” (Rom. 5:8-9).
Did you get that? When did God love you?
That’s right, when you were still a sinner. Before you even knew Him, when you were still in sin, He already loved you. How much more today, when you have been cleansed by Jesus’ blood and made righteous! Having received Jesus’ righteousness, you are righteous forever. Even when you fall into sin, your sins don’t make you a sinner again. And yes, we still sin, but now we have an advocate in Jesus!
When you fall short today, you are still the righteousness of God. This is because your righteousness comes from Jesus. In the same way that a beautiful butterfly cannot morph back into a caterpillar, once you have been made righteous by the blood of Jesus, you cannot morph back into a sinner. You are loved so much!!! You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!! You are the son or daughter of the Most High God!!! Maranatha!!

That must’ve been horrible. I’m so sorry to read that. And you are so right, diabetes does deserve more attention than it gets or has gotten. Unfortunately it’s COVID that has taken over. I hope that time has healed your sorrow and that you remember the happy and special moments you spent with your mom 🥲

This is still one of my favorite movies . Look at Dolly Parton... I mean here she was this huge country music star and still is and had a wonderful talent as an actress as well !! She is still out there doing so many things. DollyWood keeps getting bigger and better every year too. She's a wonderful person . They all were so awesome in this movie . I love them all . I'll always love their work , especially in this movie together. I'm so glad someone shared this interview, because I've never seen this before. Thank you !!
