  • June 10, 2017 - Nick, Josh, Tim and I run/hike 10 peaks in the Presidential Range of the White Mountain National Forest. 24 miles, 9,761 feet elevation gain. We started at 7:45am and finished at 7:48pm. As Nick says in the video, "It's not about the times or the splits, it's about the experience."
    The Presidential Traverse is a string of summits in excess of 4,000 feet. We began our traverse at the northern end of the range in the following order:
    Howker Ridge Trail 8:03
    Mount Madison (5,367 ft) 10:42
    Mount Adams (5,793 ft)
    Mount Jefferson (5,712 ft)
    Mount Clay (named after Henry Clay, senator from Kentucky) (5,533 ft)
    Mount Washington (6,288 ft) (Watch my Washington hike vid: bit.ly/2y9Dwq9) 11:48
    Lakes of the Clouds 12:55
    Mount Monroe (5,372 ft) 13:52
    Mount Eisenhower (4,760 ft)
    Mount Pierce (4,310 ft) 17:29
    Mount Jackson (named after Charles Jackson, state geologist for New Hampshire) (4,052 ft)
    Mount Webster (named after Daniel Webster) (3,911 ft)
    Finish 19:34
    It was an unforgettable day and one I'm really glad to have captured a on video. Can't wait for the next adventure!

    I have to say the story telling in this is A+.. As someone who's hiked the whites with friends quite frequently it was very relatable the feeling of wanting to give up but your pals push you through it. Felt like I was right on the trail with you guys! Great video

    came back here to give you all more kudos - I re-watch your videos and enjoy them every time. the effort/struggle comes through, as does the emotion and accomplishment... I love everyone's perspectives on these major trek! as a serious hiker myself so much of what you share resonates with me. Well done! Hike on!!

    Excellent video. These are the videos I like to watch for motivation when I can't get outside and train on my basement treadmill while watching CZcams. I do mountain trekking in moderation but it's good to see that some (young) people can do this.

    Nice job with the video, Guys. Has a real professional feel to it. And of course, VERY nice job with the run. I hiked all those mountains and remember the unsure footing all along the way, with some of the rocks moving as soon as we stepped on them. Impressed you made it without any mishaps. Thanks for posting this.

    A carin is built up, so if you get fogged in you can locate the trail. This is related to the sign you saw earlier. They are not kidding. Many people have died on Mt. Washington. A book was written about some of the people who died, but all those who did die are listed in an appendix’Not without Peril’.A supervisor at a company I worked for die on that mountain.

    Awesome video guys! I did the Presi traverse solo last May and it was unforgettable and brutal, occasionally post-holling in snow up to my waist in the trees, then 40-50mph winds above tree line, I took a single 10min break at the Mt Washington summit to refill my water and stumbled into the Highland center after 11hrs of incredible adventure. Can't recommend this trek enough to any experienced hikers/trail runners, maybe just don't go in shoulder season like i did!

      Wow, sounds like you really did have quite the adventure! Waist-deep snow & 40-50 mph winds... Glad you made it through. Thanks for checking out the video.

    what shoes did you guys prefer for this, and if you could wear different ones, what would you choose?

      @RunningWithCameras  Před 3 lety

      We all wore trail running shoes. I tore mine up pretty good, but would wear a trail shoe again.

    Where did you park and how did you only end up .5 miles from the car? Was it a loop?

    • @RunningWithCameras
      @RunningWithCameras  Před 4 lety

      Nah, not a loop. We left a car the day before at parking lot about a half mile from where we finished Webster... We parked at a trailhead at the base of Madison in the morning. If I remember it was a roughly 30-40 min drive to go back to get the car at Madison when we finished.
