- Today I use the Flipper Zero as a UART bridge to program by UV-5R radio.
Yes I am fully aware that I can use the proper cable, UART bridge or even repair the one I have. But where's the fun in that. :)
I got the diagram from www.taylorsvillehamnet.org/up...
Nice! Searched for this specifically and lo it is indeed possible. Cool stuff~
Will this expand your flipper zero capabilities?
I have a question you might be able to answer. Would someone theoretically be able to take a signal captured on the flipper and use the baofeng to broadcast that captured signal at a higher strength? Specifically I'm thinking a 433MHz flipper capture.
Not with this. The cable on the baofeng is only for programming channels and settings of the radio.
There is a cheap external RF unit that you can get for the flipper. This will allow external antenna connection, and then you can pass that through a power amp or even just a bigger antenna.
If you feel like programming the flipper and dismantling the baofeng, there's a way to interface with the RF chip via standard protocols that the flipper does support. Just no software has been written yet. Or that I know of. Might have a quick look into this myself.
I have a short video demonstrating a 1W signal sent from the flipper. I'll do a hook up video for it soon. Just a lot of stuff is happening at home, and I haven't had much time to work on content.
Thank you so much for the response! I watched your other video that you mentioned. That is sort of what I had in mind and what I would like to learn how to do. I had just seen this video and got curious about the possibility of using a baofeng as a transmitter.
What would interfacing with the RF chip allow if you don't mind me asking? I'd totally be willing to dismantle my baofeng to make this happen. I have a tech background but I'm not very familiar in this area sadly. Pretty new to RF stuff... it intrigues me very much and I have ideas I want to test with my flipper... so I'm trying to learn more lol.
Have a look over here. github.com/phishman/RDA1846
This is some basic reverse engineering of the RF chip RDA1846 that is used in the baofeng uv5r radio's.
There is nothing saying something similar can be completed on the F0
ive seeen it all now omg i cant believe you got into this with the flipper lol
I don’t understand what you did here.
In this video I used the flipper to do the translation from USB interface to the logic level interface that most of these cheap Chinese radios use.
