Baseball - Sport
Thanks for remembering these men and women who brought the great game of baseball to us.
My heart goes out to the Wakefields' kids. Just tragic. Cancer sucks
Brooks Robinson was the best defensive third baseman ever period
Brooks Robinson was the most gracious man I ever met
I can't believe Wakefield is gone so young ...
As a kid I loved Buddy Harrelson. RIP legend ✨
I didn't know Mike Shannon died. To listen to "Live at Shannon's" after a Cardinals game on KMOX was as good a baseball education as you could get. Absolute Cardinal Legend.
The Brooks Robinson tribute brought me to tears.
Don Gullett one of my favorites from the big red machine
My great-grandfather covered MLB in St. Louis from 1963 to 1968 and in New York/Philadelphia from 1968 to 1979 for Western Union. As the district manager, he would have to go to every game in case the phones went dead and he’d have to send wire reports to the Associated Press to relay accounts of the game.
It was a job he truly enjoyed. Thankfully, the phones never went down and he got to watch some of the greatest players to ever take the field.
He would tell me stories about Stan Musial, Lou Brock, Bob Gibson, Reggie Jackson, Tom Seaver, so many legendary names. For a very quiet man, he was an excellent orator when it came to baseball and football. We always joked that he missed his calling as a color commentator.
One calling he did not miss was being the best great grandfather a young boy could ask for. A lot of my love of sports is directly related to spending weekends with him watching games, learning the history, and picking his brain for fun stories. A lot of the players in this video are players he told me about.
Heaven sure could field a team these days. Ned is there too, covering the games. Godspeed to all these baseball greats.
I hope Ned is somewhere where he can enjoy this video while watching the players up there play
It’s sad. I recognize a lot of these names from my beloved baseball card collection from the 1970s to 1990s.
Beautiful tribute, some of those were among the most loved players ever, Blessings from San Juan 🇵🇷 PR.
Not only was Dick Groat a multiple all star, MVP , and played on WS winners in 60 and 64, he was an All-American basketball player at Duke and played briefly in the NBA. He spent 40 years doing the color commentary for Pitt hoops
He was incredible. I wish I could have a longer segment for him. I had to make some cuts
Brooks Robinson , in my opinion the best 3rd baseman in MLB history
Best fielding one.. yes.
Best all-around was/is MIKE SCHMIDT..
Best pure hitting third sacker= GEORGE BRETT..
As far as fielding and range:
1. BROOKS R.
2. BILLY COX BROOKLYN DODGERS
3. GRAIG NETTLES
4. CLETE BOYER
5. NOLAN ARENADO
6. MIKE SCHMIDT
7. DOUG RADER
8. BUDDY BELL
9. GEORGE BRETT
10. MATT CHAPMAN
This was very touching. I remember when Don Leppart hit three homeruns in a game for the Washington Senators.
Bill Plummer also managed my hometown Calgary Cannons of the PCL. We were the long time AAA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. May he RIP
I'm simply speechless with this video... 😢 ...Thanks...
thank you
I watched a number of these men play when I was a young fan rooting for the Cincinnati Reds. Don Gullet was a great pitcher who had a number of injuries over his career. He went 15-4 with a 2.42 era in 1975 despite missing two months with a broken thumb. Bill Plummer also played for the Reds as a backup to the great Johnny Bench. Plummer was a dependable player who once got 3 hits in a game against the St. Louis Cardinals in 1976. I saw or heard so many of these men play against the Reds that I feel like they were part of my family. Thanks for posting this nicely done video.
Made a little baseball trivia quiz for my dad as a Christmas gift. Brooks Robinson was on there, as was Ed Ott. Sad to see both have passed.

I really thought this was gonna be about how theyve corrupted and ruined the original game sooo much....
That it is dead...
The game that was
The American Pastime...
Gone...
Automatic runner??
Automatic ridiculous, stupid, destruction of drama, the anticipation of a ongoing, possible HIGH INNING COUNT
15 to 20+ innings
Awesome job, Sully. I love baseball.
This was like watching pieces of my childhood pass away.
Well done as always sir. I was crying throughout the video. #everydaySully
GOOD MEMORIES!, MY RESPECT TO EACH ONE OF THEM. THANKS.

As always, great work, thank you. 🙏🏻
That was touching thank you Go Teams
Such a great job! Poppy would be so proud.
I follow baseball pretty darn closely and did not know that Larry Demery or Dick Drago had passed away. Great video.
I kow. Larry Demery is great in the Dock Ellis film No No a Dockumentary
I've seen many of these types of 'in memoriams' for tv and film starts but I don't think I've seen one for baseball players. great selection of clips, sound bytes, and great editing. really nice job!
thank you
Father Time catches up to us all.
We can only be filled with gratitude, that we had these people as part of our lives.
May God keep them forever.
Nice job yet again.
The Brooks Robinson and Tim Wakefield tributes killed me 😢
Thank you!
Great video! very well done! THanks!!!
Well done. I'm old enough to have seen a majority of the players mentioned play ball. Time does march on but man, it still sucks watching these men move on to the next dimension.

Did not know the Buddy Harrelson, Frank Howard, and Dacmve Gullet died. Roger Craig also. The others I never heard of them. Frank Howard hit one in the old Yankees Stadium in the left field 3rd deck. It was estimated to have traveled over 500 feet. The only other man to do it was Mickey Mantle.

@AMEER-wp2mm I agree with you. On a local station where I live, a sports show said starting pitchers now pitch an average of 5 innings. Koufax, Ford, Gibson, Seaver and many other pitchers of the past completed a 9 inning game. I have not watched baseball for 20 years.

And notice how ZERO player or any baseball person at all of now or who is still alive from the past says anything against the absolute ridiculousness of many alterations that have ruined the game...
in the supposed purpose of "improving"what was the perfect game for 150 years...
Is that possible?
That know one at all would oppose?
..unless they KNOW that they dare not speak against it because to do so would be to oppose the fearful power that is behind the corruption of everything.
@AMEER-wp2mm I wish I were back in the old Yankee Stadium. Watching Mantle and Maris. Back then, they let you into the stadium for batting practice.
The players these days are all big gorillas. Steroods and weights. It all started with Bonds, McGuire, and Sosa. I remember when the players were all different sizes. Some were skinny, some were muscular. Some tall and some short. The game is ruined now. I never watch a single half inning.

If you are interested.. I have a chronological and most comprehensive playlist of pre-2000
CUBS, HARRY CARAY, WRIGLEY FIELD...
So sad
Go Tigers
Nolan Arenado and Manny Machado are great..but they are no Brooksy. He was the highest tier.

Anyone who didn't tear up at the photo of the Wakefields has no heart.
No Jim Andrews, so I guess we now know that this goes to bed about a week before it drops.
I finished it last night. One or two names just didn't make it in. It is always regretful when one doesn't make it in. Preston Hannah was another. It is tough to not have the video last forever but also pay tribute. That's why I say "Some of the names" at the top
WE CAN PUT A MAN ON THE MOON, BUT WE CANNOT FIND A CURE FOR CANCER. I WANT THIS GOVERNMENT AND THE MEDICAL PROFESSION TO QUIT PUTTING PROFITS ABOVE PATIENTS,IT'S THE PATIENTS WHOSE LIVES COME FIRST NOT THE MONEY.
Former New York Mets catcher and former coach John Stearns
He was in the previous video
Don't forget to add former Orioles' owner Peter Angelos, who passed away at the age of 92. Rest in Eternal Paradise 🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡🖤. 😊
He will be in next year's video. He died after the first 2024 game
Sorry
I checked, I thought stearns passed in 23 but it was 22
Age and cause of death would have enhanced the quality of this video... Otherwise excellent narration and visuals...
Thank you. I decided not to clutter the image with graphics. Glad you enjoyed it
Beautifully done, thank you

I am not interested in doing a video like that. Go read the articles from the 1920's saying baseball is dead because it is no longer about skill but rather about hitting bombs and how Babe Ruth ruined the sport. Every year since the 1880s, there have been people declaring the death of the sport I love. If you want to be pessimistic, go ahead. I choose to celebrate. Be well.

the physically blind people cant pretend they arent blind...they cant live in such a delusion...
They must face that reality of being blind...
But at least they dont actually choose their condition...
As many do.
@@sullybaseball
And simply put...
You're taking
some critics who complained of Ruths home run frequency..
and EQUATING it with
INTENTIONAL CORRUPTERS
CHANGING THE FUNDEMENTAL RULES of the game from what they ALWAYS WERE. .
So...
that's just plain irrational...
Your idolatry causes such a desperate condition....
in which you must strive to explain away such obvious gross perverting...
In a effort to defend your inappropriate & inordinate worldly attachment
You need to call out to JESUS THE TRUTH, THE ALMIGHTY
