Building a Jaguar F-Type in 10 Minutes, BEST Performance and Exhaust Mods For V6 S and V8 R Sound

- It's been one year since I bought the F Type V6 S and I am sad to say that we have sold the car. This video compiles all the highlights of building and modding this beast to 475 HP with Velocity AP tune and modifications. This was our favorite car we have ever owned and the exhaust sound is our personal favorite ever for a V6 engine.

hahaha I love the straight pipes through the mufflers. Years ago I did the same thing to a catalytic convertor, I cut the outer shell in half long-ways and welded it straight over the top of a 3" pipe 🤣

I’ve never been a fan of the V6. That being said though, I love all of the mods you’ve done to the car, the time energy and effort to make it yours and stand out different from the rest. Couple dyno videos show that Minan intake robs power especially once warmed up due to heat soak. Functional hood vents allow even more water in causing even more issues with water in plug holes causing misfires and failed coils. A well known ftype issue. VAP mods are fantastic. Nice build, enjoy!
Thanks for the comment! The Mina Gallery lower intake is actually in the least hottest part of the engine bay near the lower front bumper with fresh air supply through ducts from the front grill. I never had heat soak issues but I do live in California where weather is always good. The sound is also well worth any slight loss in HP.
The functional vents are OEM for F Type base models. There is an engine cover on top and extra foam padded covers on each side of the engine directly covering the coil packs. You can see in my spark plug change video, there is no way for water to get the the plugs. The OEM drainage system via the engine cover does a good job.
@@Sals_Garage the wet coil issue is well documented. Typically the middle coils on driver's side. Had to replace coils on my v8 due to water running down the engine cover, soaking into the insulation, then dropping behind the hard foam insert. It's a poor design that some RTV fixed right up. I agree on the lower intakes, it's the top that heat soaks. Just search and you'll see the dynos where they lost power. Jag got it pretty good to begin with. 100% agree on adding the SC whine, does sound better. :) Enjoying your build and videos. I have the Minan intake in the box. Next dyno I do I'll swap it in to see if my results are the same. I'm running a custom VAP stage 3 tune with cat down pipes, top and bottom pullies estimated around 675bhp right now, want to see what she actual does.

No need to reset anything. You’ll need a tune to remove the CEL light

Hi Sal, love your work. I am doing my first mod fitting VAP cats and am struggling to remove the old cats. The lower nuts on the cats are just impossible to get to. How do you do it ? Do you remove the cross brace? Top bolts are ok but those lower nuts are very hard to get a spanner onto. How’d you do it? Appreciate your insights!

That mixed with different sizes of wobble extensions will allow you to reach those bottom bolts. Also try to remove the red power cable wire on the passenger side (US) for more room. Good luck 👍

Hi. Love the mods. I’m over in the uk and have the same car. It’s very hard to find any decent stuff over here. Have you had any problems with the engine after tuning? I will be doing the same to suspension asap. Cheers
Hi! Thanks for the comment! We had no issues at all with the tuning parts. It worked smoothly like it should from the factory. The car became much more snappy and responsive with enough power for the public roads. The lowering springs were such a great aesthetic upgrade as well. 👍

Couple years late but hey, I can ACTUALLY HEAR the supercharger! Mine is dead quiet and it was one of the things I've wanted to change most. If you see this, was it the change to functional hood vents that allowed for that, or was it something else? Because even in the cabin, I can't hear the supercharger at all, like how I can at 7:00.

I wish you stayed in Arizona because I have a 2017 Jaguar xe 25t premium & I barely bought it a few months ago but I feel limited on my options for mods since nobody really works on jaguars around me 😂 they stopped making my model so I been having trouble finding aftermarket parts / mods . maybe I’m wrong , anything I can do to increase horsepower ?
Not sure about that model but try contacting Velocity AP (VAP). They might know more about performance mod options.

Thanks, yes I could have gotten the V8 but it’s about $15k difference where I live so I chose V6 and spent roughly 5 grand on the mods. 👍

It does not flash, its the camera effect. You can choose a setting for the strobe effect.

I loved my 2017 V6 F Type. But I just traded it in for a 2017 F Type R AWD V8 with 550hp of straight madness… I would highly recommend doing so if you ever get the chance. The difference is night and day.

@@Sals_GarageI saw you removed the whole suitecase muffler enclosure when you cut out the mufflers. Was that totally necessary? Or can I just lift the vehicle and cut while the suitcase is still attached to the vehicle.

The OEM exhaust sounded throaty/gravelly, now it just sounds cheap and tacky. There's a reason Jaguar gave it that sound. But now it's been spoiled. You've turned a beautiful British sports car into something crass!!
We personally like the louder sound. It’s much more fun to drive 👍
Love the Guinea Pigs! But no way you got to 475 from 360 horse, with just exhaust and air filter. Nope. And some of these mods are just making the car a ticking time bomb for whoever you sold it to. Sorry for them when they continue to over-rev it, and it breaks a valve grenading the whole engine.
