A little sad about the mushy paint, but I love her comic-accurate look over the hideous Legends design.
I think the Legends version is better relative to how much you are paying. This is obviously the better figure of the two, but I don’t know if it’s worth the money given all of the issues.

While Deadpool breaks the fourth wall for jokes, Gwenpool breaking the fourth wall is the plotline. I still don't know whether her masked or unmasked head will be going on an extra storm or clone trooper...
The BIGGEST issue with such expressive characters like Gwenpool... not enough expression parts. She really should have, like, a shit-ton of alternate heads. Maybe MAFEX will give us some 'Expressions Pack' style rereleases further down the line, like DC started doing with the Batman:TAS figures.

Gwen Poole (that’s her real name) is a comic book nerd from our real world who fell into the Marvel universe. Knowing she was in a comic book she first became a mercenary and didn’t line killing random people. As her story went on she came to care for the characters in her book, even the extras, and tried to become a superhero. Her primary ability is that she knows everyone’s secret identities and secrets and stories, and how comic books work in general. She later develops the super power of manipulating reality. Because she knows she’s in a comic, she can do things like Jump between panels, throw people out of the comic, and capture sound effects, and see her thought bubbles.
The artist who drew her comic is Gurihiru (a Japanese girl group) and this figure is based off their design.
Gwenpool was initially created as simply a variant cover that combined Gwen Stacy and deadpool, but her look was so popular with fans and cosplayers that marvel decided to turn her into her own character, and after some trials in Howard the duck and some holiday specials, they gave her her own series. It ended after 25 glorious issues, and she is now currently in a new super team called West Coast Avengers which is a new series currently in production.
She is a wonderful, loveable character who goes through great character development and demonstrates some spectacular storytelling. At first glance she looks like she’s just a fun comic, but as you read it there are some seriously heart wrenching storylines, such as when she finds out she can never go home to our world to see her parents again, or when her comic book was cancelled. She was actually AWARE that her series was ending, and was doing everything she could to keep it from the panels running out, because when they did, she would essentially cease to exist. And even when she makes appearances in other series, she will never be necessarily the same person, and her supporting cast will disappear to as they don’t exist anywhere else in the marvel universe.
REALLY GREAT COMIC, worth a read. Gwen is my all-time favourite super hero. Btw, a little factoid is she actually never read any of he deadpool comics, so she knows nothing about him 😂

Yeah. That sloppy paint work makes it look cheap, which it definitely isn’t.
I'm a hardcore gwenpool fan so I'm in regardless but just from the first few seconds of this review I could tell this figure wasn't worth the asking price.
Even though I still want the figure I kind of wish I hadn't preordered it. The unmasked head especially doesn't look anywhere near as good as the promo shots, to me. The paintwork is below any other competing line (shf, figma etc.). Think I'll hold off preordering anymore, regardless of how good they look before release. May even cancel Venom (though I can't think of how they would mess that up)...

What was it 90$ bucks or close to that ball park when I bought it? It would have been great at closer to the 50 to 60ish dollar mark. If you can get it for at least the original retail or less I think you'd like it. I enjoyed mine while I had it.
Idk if u guys notice but in every photo ( at the end of the review) he shows the pics he's taken but he always starts at the bottom or her legs, it's a wierd choice but I don't mind, not to be wierd bit I think it was a perfect choice. Also the figure is pretty good ( as in great )

What’s good about this figure to me is how it reflects specific comic art work so well. We’ve already seen the Spidey matches Mark Bagley and the Venom Todd McFarlane, and them embracing specific artists’ stylings for each figure really pleases me. DC Direct/Collectibles have pretty much always based their figures on specific artists, but aside from some Toybiz and a few Hasbro figures here and there we haven’t really seen that with Marvel so I’m glad to be getting that here
The poseability and fun factor of this figure is the stuff! Love her

At 1:55 the arm that's reaching to steal her mask belongs to the picture on the front, kinna reaching around the box
Also there is a random color inversion at 6:07 idk what that was about but overall great video
Seafood don't know Gwenpool, but I wanted her because, as you said, "She's so damn cute." I'm gonna display her with the unmasked head.
Paint done that poorly is unacceptable on a $75 SRP figure.

This is obviously better than the legends version, bc of price, accessories, but the legends version is no slouch for $20 and under for me... I think unless you are a die-hard Gwenpool fan legends is adequate for your collection, just my opinion

Big points for sculpt, fun and playability but mine also suffers from poor paint apps. I'm a big Gwenpool fan though so I can deal with it and I'm definitely in for Evil Gwenpool. Spidey, Venom and Deadpool all look great too, so I may well be all-in on the 'comic version' line. Just hope they sharpen up their paint game.

I'd be pissed if I ever bought a figure and the paint was that awful. That one heads mouth is atrocious.
What makes collecting Legends easier. Even if it isn't a great fig, you still get a BAF part. All for 20 bucks.
@@evanhuff682 Collecting Legends is not easy. Plenty of Legends have paint this bad and I have to pass on purchasing or return. Imports at this price range never have paint issues to this degree, not even prior Mafex releases.
Legends might have more paint issues, but it's a lot more understandable given the price point. I own multiple Hot Toys, so price isn't an issue for me. However, there are different expectations for each price point. While I am often very happy with Legends figures, if an $80 figure had the same quality as a Marvel Legend I would be livid.
I got a mafex Harley Quinn from suicide squad movie.. the face printing on the standard head sculpt was way off target. It reminded me of when Homer Simpson made the makeup shotgun for marge. Upsetting after paying that price, trouble being you can’t compare, exchange or do anything about it. Unless you buy 2 or 3... hope one is good and try to return/sell the rest. But you need to drop serious loot and time AND energy. Really sucks.
I feel like I need one just for all of the selfie possibilities!

I wish Marvel Legends had given us a figure like this.
I want MAFEX Jango Fett. And Figuarts Grievous. But in all honesty, repaints of battle droids without backpacks are the ones I am waiting for the most. THe design of SHF battle droids are just so incredibly brilliant! Probably my favorite figure from the entire line.

Like you Dr Robo Fwoosh, I pre-ordered this figure purely for the aesthetics .... then I followed it up and read the comic, and I was not disappointed either way ! If you like "cute", and I know you like model kits - might I suggest you check the very cool range of Kotobukiya 1/12th scale model kits in their "Frame Arms Girl" series (also has an Anime). Fwoosh web already reviewed the Gigantic Arms "exo skelton"'. The "Frame Arms Girl" kits are of a similar Manga Anime "big eyed style", are snap together kits with great articulation - so my Gwenpool will fit right in on my Manga/Anime shelf because of her proportions !
And I'm still waiting for my Mezco Strange, dam life dudeee

Right, exactly, but most of their other stuff is mostly realistic type figures, not a lot of super straight lines.

I've been SO looking forward to this as a huge gwenpool fan... but I'm really disappointed mafex messed up the paint so much... I passed on the ML because I thought this would be the perfect import quality figure but it looks like a mafex bootleg. All the great sculpt but crappy looking paint. I hope they fix this before Spider-Man and venom release

Mine just arrived today from Hobby Link Japan, and she has few, if any, of the paint issues the one seen here in the review does. Either I got an extraordinarily good one, or Robo got an extraordinarily bad one. Still, your mileage shouldn’t vary at this price point. Having said that, the fun factor on this figure is through the roof!
My luck is usually to have some issues, haha.
Well one bit of knowledge I know about Gwenpool is her name is Gwen Poole and she's from our universe and knows everybody's identities, powers, weaknesses as she is a Marvel fan (until get a crossover and probably find out she knows the DCU too maybe)
Though the paint issues could live with that as the character has grown on me and kinda fits as she even talks about some minor things like that in the book.
Figure wise, a must get. I like her over the legend by far as it's mainly for the true unmasked head.
I begin to wonder if this could just be an early production goof and later ones could look better.

The number of paint defects on this figure is mind boggling. That tells me that paint issues will be a production run wide problem.

Everytime she spins out into another comic she sucks, but her original ongoing comic was really really great, I'm so sad I missed this figure! I just didn't know this came out before now😢
Also if you ever think about reading Unbelievable Gwenpool, it's kind of like if Sensational She-Hulk was from the real world stuck in the marvel universe became an Assassin and then a hero after fighting her evil mirror counterpart, it's fourth world fun and I'm a big fan of Sensational She-Hulk so if you liked that by John Byrne, you'd love Chris Hastings on Unbelievable Gwenpool just saying, especially the last half that, a top notch fun read.
