As a former fat girl, you would have hurt my feelings so much but now I realize that is exactly what I need. Sugar coating and niceness only keep you unhealthy. So true, so many aren't healthy yet don't want to accept it, so they want to believe healthy people aren't healthy either. Half of my family is overweight or obese. I have a BMI of 20 and am constantly rediculed for being "so small" "eating like a bird" "brainwashed by diet culture" "judging their eating habits (I've literally NEVER said anything to any of them)". I literally just eat half of what they eat when I eat meals, and they think it's a huge deal. It's crazy.

When I visited New York a coupe of months ago, I saw this old obese woman who was waddling through the street. It was honestly sad. I saw so many over weight to obese people. I've spent most of my life in Japan being on the bigger size for Japan weighing in around 115lb. I think I'm at a pretty healthy weight for my height. So many people in Japan are diet obsessed. I see so many stupid fasts and diet on TV that I just have to laugh. One show was basically promoting stretching to get abs 🤦‍♀️
I've been to Australia as well and there are a lot of over weight people, but seeing someone who was obese wasn't too common.
Both America and Australia have such big portions. It's like having 2 meals at once. I don't know what Americans put in their food, but there're more calories in everything. Even if something does seem a good portion it might be 1000 calories. Crazy.

A while ago I went to get a physical for life insurance and the woman doing it was talking to me about weight and stuff and she mentioned how her weight was considered obese and she literally said “ that’s so outdated. I mean according to the BMI and height weight ratio I’m obese. Everyone is “obese” now a days but that’s because all these numbers are from decades ago.” She was in her 50s at least. Admitted she’s never worked out before and she was probably at LEAST 30lbs overweight.

I work in healthcare both the ER and regular floors as a respiratory therapist. For every drug overdose that comes through the ER doors there are at least 100 sugarholics and junk food junkies suffering from diabetes so bad their feet are rotting off or suffering heart disease, strokes, and a myriad of other obesity related illnesses . We are all overwhelmed, there are too many patients and not enough hands to help. There is a desperate shortage of doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, radiologists, everyone. Often we go through personnel shortages and have to put in ridiculous amounts of overtime in order to have shifts covered, which are 12 hour shifts at least. In September we had a staffing crises and I had to work 18 days straight without a day off. There is a hospital nearby that has a 30-40% personnel shortage. Even when we are "fully staffed" we are still understaffed. Nurses, docs and RT's are burning out, both from exhaustion and from being a cog in a broken system. Problem is it's only getting worse as the number of professionals stays the same, but the number of patients is projected to grow. We are going to hit a breaking point and unfortunately this will be a problem that will collapse our healthcare system.
BTW I'm down 45lbs and got a lot more to go. My blood pressure is dropping back to normal and my health is improving greatly. I don't want to end up like my patients.

Swoleo, on the ‘limited options for physical activity’, that IS a problem for some people in poorer neighbourhoods. There are some people in poorer neighbourhoods who are struggling to keep their family fed and a roof above their heads, can’t afford a gym membership and can be too scared to go out a lot because of how unsafe their neighbourhood (especially if they’re female or part of a minority group that’s liable to be targeted for violence).
And it’s a sad thing that activities like running get you a lot of attention.I live in a safe place, but when I ran (even as a very fit person) It wasn’t uncommon for me to get stuff shouted at me. My brother also gets this and he’s had stuff thrown at him. In a dangerous neighbourhood, being ‘the weirdo that runs a lot’ could be deadly- especially if the runner is an attractive woman or a fat guy

For example you have most company’s on average work there employs 9 hours our past that then you have to account for the 7 hours a sleep that is needed pluse. So by the time people do get off work they ether have no fule left in there body’s our they don’t have any amount of time to even prep a meal. Our ancestors on average hunted for food around 4 hours a day and that’s how much people should be working. 4 hours a day every day and if there needs to be stuff done higher people to cover that and increase the damn pay already.

I went shopping at WalMart today and saw some guy who looks about in his 20's ate his own booger. As I was leaving the store, there was an older lady pushing her cart so I decided to hold the door for her, no big deal, but there were two females right behind her (one slightly older and the other around my age in her 20's) the two old ladies said thank you, while this girl (overweight btw) gave this ugly mean look towards me instead of saying thank you. And those two incidents made me realized that this American society is dumb-down. Promoting obesity, manner/etiquette is a dying habit, and feelings over facts are encouraged. We're devolving instead of evolving.
