    Teaching children to use manners is so important. This is something everyone needs to learn. My sister's youngest child thanks her school bus everyday. It's so beautiful to see their faces light up when she says it. 😊 I think it would've been better if the last part was written. I think they all knew the answers but only one person was able to answer. It might have been enlightening to see who knew what. 🤔

    Over all I think Logan won. He is so respectful, and courteous. He followed your directions on the Q & A. He waited each time for the question to be completed to raise his hand. He helped Aurora at MickeyD's. He is just a kind well mannered child. Brody may have won in your view, but he lost that vote when he grabbed the money and didn't even say thank you. Maybe the Q & A could have been done in a different way. Good job Krystal and Aaron on raising Logan with respect and courteousness.

      @3kalb538 Před rokem +1

      He won because he’s the opposite of this challenge-loud and demanding. He’s pushy and won his way through trivia simply for raising his hand first, before the question finished, barely answering them correctly, then fighting for a point, which he of course got each time. Poor Logan, as usual. Always the quiet, most-behaved children needing the least attention that get put last

    I liked Crystal’s point of teaching kids the *why* they say “please” &/or “Thank You”.
    I’ve always taught my nephews & nieces to say “please” &/or “Thank You”, but I have never taught them the *why behind it.
    That was such a good plight to make, Crystal.

    • @3kalb538
      @3kalb538 Před rokem +1

      The way I was raised, if I was called on, and noticed someone actually beat me, I would say, “actually, so and so raised their hand before me”. These kids (except two) argued to the death to be the first, even when they weren’t. This trivia should’ve had one point awarded at the end, and that’s it. Give it the the child that displayed grace and kindness through all of the questions.

  • @Kdizzle02
    @Kdizzle02 Před rokem +88

    I think you should also talk to the kids about not interrupting conversations when someone else is talking! I know they’re young but even the older kids have done it many times before! When they grow older it will be seen as rude & it won’t help them in real life adult situations. They always speak over each other or even call for you & Aaron when you guys are talking. Just a respect thing.

    • @jhennd
      @jhennd Před rokem +8

      As a teacher I really try to instill that in students through modeling with young ones & discussions with older ones. The only time they can interrupt a conversation without being asked to wait their turn is in an emergency (blood, vomit, fire, broken bone, etc..) and we go over what is considered an emergency. It kind of goes along with tattling rules.

    • @Kdizzle02
      @Kdizzle02 Před rokem +9

      @@dawnbailey4455 I agree, it’s hard to watch & makes me cringe! you can also see the looks of frustration or sadness of the children as they get interrupted by their siblings, some stop speaking & watch as their parents allow the children to speak over them. It’d be nice if their parents told them they need to wait their turn to speak. I get being excited & wanting to say something but that shouldn’t come at the expense of the other kids. Teach them now so it’s not a problem down the road. I do love this family but this is just hard to watch sometimes. With all due respect. Not that it’s my business.

    Logan raised his hand multiple times first after the question and he never got chosen. That makes me so sad. Logan is such a good kid. I hate to see him sad or upset. I don't think the verbal Q and A worked so good with the first hand in the air thing. My suggestion would be to ask them individually away from the rest. Write down what they say and then compare their answers to witch answer is the best. That way they get equal opportunity to get it right.

    • @jhennd
      @jhennd Před rokem +6

      Verbal questions could’ve been done by taking turns (random drawing for order) & the question would go to the next person if unable to answer. No one gets 2 turns in a row. That way they can learn from others who know the answer. Anyone who blurts out the answer or interrupts the person answering loses their turn. Questions should’ve been age & knowledge level appropriate.

    Logan followed the rules raising his hand in the Q & A and lost. Having such an excessive cash prize for young kids motivated the kids to participate, but they did it in a very competitive manner at the end perhaps as they were thinking about the big prize so think some manners and info was lost in the process. Having lunch out for everyone could have been enough of a reward. Love Brody, but he didn’t even say thank you so what was learned?? Normally they seem to be more kind to one another…..totally understand they are kids, but perhaps better to have life skills reinforced without it being in a win/lose contest setting….which as good parents that you are is done daily!!

    There should have been more thought put into how they were going to do this challenge. Logan tried so hard and was respectful and tried to follow the rules. Jake just gave up because of the lack of organization. When it was stated you have to wait until the question was finished before raising your hand, only Logan and Jake followed the instructions. If one of the points was given for being polite and another for being considerate of others. Points should have been deducted for the not being polite and considerate.

I taught my older 3 sons when they were between 6/10yrs old how to do cpr. There now in the 20's and stil remember how much fun we had doing it and how they can stiĺl remember the skills. • @jhennd
    @jhennd Před rokem +4

    Trivia was chaotic. Could’ve been paper/pencil or take turns answering. If someone couldn’t answer then question goes to the next person. Anyone blurting out loses their turn. Points system should’ve been something tangible like $1-$5 for each task completed correctly with additional $ for going above and beyond (holding doors, helping others, picking up & dumping trash after meal, etc…). Explain why bonuses were given especially for younger ones. Clear explanations at the store might’ve made the task more successful if they’d understood budgeting. The one with the most $ at the end of all tasks gets a prize choice Younger 4 boys could be $20, a gift card of equal value or an outing/ 1:1 time with one or both parents by themself. Older teens could be a larger cash amount, gift cards, 1:1 time, or parents pay car insurance for the month. Everyone keeps what they earned on the tasks so they don’t feel left out & have something for their time and effort.
    Everyone should have to participate and doing it in two groups (younger ones & teens) would make it fair. Trivia questions should be age/knowledge relevant.
    A Teen budgeting task could be planning, shopping for, & preparing a complete family dinner that would feed everyone (being mindful of dietary restrictions & likes). Either boys vs girls, self selected groups, or pairs/trios. ALL have to participate. That would be 2-3 dinners that parents wouldn’t have to plan & make. Winners would be those who met the criteria set & spent the least amount of money for a complete meal. Taking into consideration that others may show up to eat & planning for that could be bonus points. Kids who do not live in the house don’t compete unless it’s a separate competition btwn 2 groups working together (Home kids vs On their own kids).

    u literally completely ignored logan being the only one to raise his hand like you said every single time, and everyone else was really pushy about it and you didnt correct them either. making everything about huge dollar bills makes them get too competitive. just because he's quiet doesn't mean he shouldn't be CLEARLY rewarded for good behavior, and watched and praised, everyone else just kept yelling and fighting and that's the exact opposite of life skills at all and that was ignored too

    You need a dry erase board for each person during the trivia, so everyone gets a chance to get points for correct answers. Plastic plates or a plastic sheet protector on a clipboard also work, if you don’t have dry erase boards.

    Great video! Great parenting! I do believe the questions asked tho would have gone better had it been written down for each of the kids on paper. That way they could have each answered vs talking over one another, or being the first to raise their hand. Maybe something to use in the future???
    All in all great skills to teach each of them! Good job Mama! ❤️

    **EDIT**
    next time for the Q&A part, you should pick a kid for the question, then let the others try if they got it wrong. You can go in order for the questions for their chance to answer.
    Jake totally had the choking question hand, after the question was finished being asked.

    It's always a major asset to teach/learn lifeskills and good manners at home from a young age.
    Being polite and friendly is also very important.
    Some parents and kids are natural teachers and students, others need to get to read the love languages. Or have to have examples to understand the importance.
    Apparently the oral Q&A didn't give the same opportunities to everyone.
    Being impatient with a sibling or interrupting(-ed), isn't pleasant.
    Maybe the test/practice should be less of a competition and without announcing the price.
    Or reward 2$ to each kid for every execution and 5$ bonus to the one(s) who did something extra nice, polite or clever. (Like the extra point for holding the door).
    As for the knowledge test, propose a multiple choice on paper and a timelimit.
    Have fun mastering skills and educating each other in a playful way. 🥰

    I think Brody should share with his siblings. There were a few times he was rewarded when others waited patiently for the question to be fully read. This was definitely a fun way to teach important skills but may need a little refinement to make it more fair and less chaotic. The thrill of competition was very evident.

    For Savanna who wants to do cosmetology, I’ve been a cosmetologist for 30 years. I wish I was taught this before.
    When you begin to work make your own IRA for retirement, get whole life insurance because it will be cheaper since your young and not smoking. So you can get a better rate and won’t miss the money taken out every month. Also find a trustworthy person to do investment. Wear good shoes. Hairdresser will eventually have back and neck pain so be aware of stretching and stretching.
    At the beginning I worked7 days a week and had an awesome boss and co workers. No drama. But by working so much I gained many clients, even by them just seeing me there a lot.
    And you have a lot of siblings to practice on so that’s great! So did I.
    Colorist make the best money and it’s fun seeing the before and after look!! Good luck! Hope these suggestions help

    It's good they're being taught these important life skills! I just wish you didn't have to put a monetary award to it. Some things its fine telling your kids the reward is just being a better human and future adult.
    If you need to get engagement and participation from them, branch out with maybe the winner picking the next family outing/activity, the next dinner or maybe even a day off of chores. But constantly rewarding with money or actual things, that's all that's going to be retained in my opinion. Its setting the expectation of if I act/respond this way, I'll get a prize. Rather than I need to respond/act this way because its the morally the right thing to do.

    You guys should put a GoPro camera on each of the youngsters kids, and like give them a note with tasks that they have to complete. And they go by them self, it can be as easy as throw a pice of paper in the trash or help a older person to pack their bags in the grocery store. In USA it seems like all kids are such nicer when they talk to adults and strangers. Like in Sweden “when I gets offered a pice of candy on a summer camp and I say “no thanks” those in my age group born 2003, they only say “no.” The same when they order food or paying their grocery’s, most are so rude. Btw you guys are awesome!❤️

Do the kids know how to use fire extinguishers or fire blankets? Do the older kids that live alone have fire extinguishers?
