- Welcome to The Engineering Guide!
This is the first CFD tutorial of the channel! Today's tutorial will show you how to set up the CFD simulation for the fluid flow around 1 cylinder with the objective of seeing the von Karman effect. In the following episodes, we are going to compare to results obtained for 1 cylinder, 2 cylinders and 3 cylinders in tandem separated by varying amount in order to see how the number of cylinder and the spacing between cylinder will affect the von Karman effect.
Thank you for watching! Hope you enjoyed!

Incredible tutorial. Thank you very much for your time and effort.
Amazing tutorial, very well explained, I could follow each step with so much clarity. Thank you :)
Very explicit tutorial, thanks sir
THANKS A LOT FOR THE HELP!
Amazing Sir🎉❤
Nice exploration tq
Excellent tutorial thank you for sharing. When looking at grid convergence, how do you pull the data from the analysis to create the comparison charts?
That is awesome! During my college time I didn't have any professors with enough knowledge on ansys to show these simulations to us.
I am doing one here as you did and so far everything is going fine. Do you have any videos similiar to this but with airfoils?
Commenting here to grab your attention. I appreciate the good work and was looking forward for tandem arrangement of 2 and 3 cylinders. There are barely any videos for 2 and 3 cylinder arrangement so u making one would be helpful.
Yes I agree! I will try to get the video up by the end of the week!
To simulate the acceleration of a thin tiny mm-scaled cylindrical pole under turbulent water flow, do I need to use CFD or FEA?
great video, only drawback is that the volume goes up and down after cuts
hello,
i'm working on a graduation research project about vortex induced vibration on an oscillating cylinder,
could you please give me the needed UDF or setup to let the cylinder oscillate ?
thank you
best regards.
Nice video.. Could you tell me how to calculate the total force of hydrodynamic?
This video is helpful but I have some queries.. regarding my 3d Fluent can u help with it sir.
Dear sir Please tell us can be fluidelastic instability phenomena establish in ANSYS or not
Dear Sir
Please make video on fluid-elastic Instability behavior of circular cylinder
How about a tutorial on Multi-phase flow ?
#TheEngineeringGuide, Can you make a fluid flow tutorial for U tube Evacuated with a V shape reflector?
sir reynolds number is to be calculated at the cylinder diameter or edge
How to plot the Vorticity contour for the current problem ?
Sir can you please make a video on flow around an oscillating cylinder where the cylinder is oscillating in the y-direction... it's really necessary sir do help in this.
How did you define the outlet conditions?
Can this be used in turbulence cases?
how to convert it to 3D mesh
I think the time step size should have been 0.004 instead of 250, because the von Kármán effect should not take this long to take effect.
How can I calculate acceptable values for time step and number of time steps if my diameter is another and I'm changing the velocity of the water flow for each simulate?
Let me know if you know

It is over 25 minutes and the calculation is not up to 50% done , why is it so?
It will take atleast 1 hour you have set the process for every sec for every 4000 illerations
