    I'm a avid vintage and legacy player and I must say playing pauper is really fun. I think building a deck out of commons is more tricky and takes alot of consideration than building a deck in a eternal format.

    • @paperpauperplayer
      @paperpauperplayer  Před 21 dnem

      @ryanday633 100% agree! Trying to find merit in what would typically be bad cards makes deck building so much fun! Of course, Pauper has some of magics strongest cards of all time in it, but assuming you're brewing or basically just bot playing Red or Blue, it's definitely a creative outlet!

    Glad I found you! Subbed! Just came back to Magic after 10 years, started in 1997, and was surprised how expensive everything had become. At first I wanted try the "casual" Commander format but even that was super expensive--also no, Rule Zero doesn't fix it for me, I want CLEAR official guidelines everyone will abide by at the casual or competitive level.
    Lo and behold, I read that Pauper is now officially a thing; now I have Azorius Gate and Selesnya Bogle, with more decks in the pipeline because wow this format is so fun! Imagine opening a booster and now you can look at the commons too, then just sell off any money card you have no plans chasing an entire set for just to play.
    Pauper is the best, and it will save Magic: the Gathering!

      Absolutely legend! Welcome back to the game! It's gotten so ridiculously expensive. Pauper really is the saving grace.
      Oh nice! Those are 2 of my favorite decks! Actually going to be uploading the unboxing for Bogles next week! Thank you so much for the love and support. Glad you're enjoying the content!

    This was the video that introduced me to the channel, and I've been watching the others in semi-random order to get an idea of some deck options. Pauper needs a few more channels like this.

    Yeah my first introduction to MTG was through Pauper and that was the best decision of my life. I have friends who tried to introduce their friends through Commander and their interest died super fast. Pauper was so much easier and very straight forward, I think its the BEST beginner format and irt should be advertised as such. My first deck was Affinity and around the time I played Atog was still around, my entire deck total was only $30.

    • @paperpauperplayer
      @paperpauperplayer  Před rokem +1

      That's fantastic! Yeah, commander is extremely overwhelming for new people and it's like "hey! Play this new game you have no idea if you'd like, but first give me $500!" Lmao

    • @RainRaiderX
      @RainRaiderX Před rokem +1

      @@paperpauperplayer Not only that its like "Great you wsnt to play Commander? Heres 70 cards that each do something different, remember to read carefully!." They say Commander is casual friendly but Id say its not Beginner friendly.
      But Commander I eventually got interested after Pauper

    This is awesome Joel! Question did you just make up the scenario as getting into Magic and the shop prices or was it based on a true story?

    • @paperpauperplayer
      @paperpauperplayer  Před 2 lety

      It is in fact made up, but it has truth to it, as new players are constantly turned away from magic BECAUSE of the reality of the investment in most formats

  • @CardMasterBrian

    I haven't played Magic in a long time... I got into the game when Ice Age was the legal block. Kind of went in and out of the game throughout the years. This seems like a great format though. Fun fact for any Yu-Gi-Oh! players out there, there is also a format for Yu-Gi-Oh! that only allows commons called Common Charity!

    • @paperpauperplayer
      @paperpauperplayer  Před rokem +1

    • @CardMasterBrian
      @CardMasterBrian Před rokem +1

      @@paperpauperplayer Funny enough the name comes from one of the cards. Some monsters in Yu-Gi-Oh! are called normal monsters as they have no effect. The card Common Charity has you remove one normal monster from your hand to draw 2 cards! 😁
