Their prices are so low it is hard to imagine. Thanks again.

Yes, we will see how it tests for my review. So far I am really liking it tho!

Love the channel and looking forward to the review! Still seems to be on sale. Thinking about it in a 15x12 (x8)ft space which I think is a bit above the rated space but it’s cramped with lots of furniture so it seems smaller which also makes a smaller sub attractive. About 80/20% home theater/music. Pairing with a 5.1 system: Sony SSCS5, matching center, old Koss surrounds, 8” sub from Yamaha HTiaB.
I’m new to subs and many recommendations say the cheapest worthwhile subs are SVS SB1000 or RSL speedwoofer mk2 … and that you should “really buy two”! Can’t quite get there, given my current frugal system. But could buy 2 monolith 8” for the cost of 1 SVS/RSL. Hoping for your thoughts. Thanks!

Ok, a lot to process here!
Yes, the Monolith 8" sub is quite good, but not as as good as the SB1000. (makes sense because it's almost half the price when on sale.) I noticed q good amount of port noise when running it in ported mode so I switched to sealed. Sealed does not offer as low of extension as ported tho. It's still an amazing value!
Even in a small room two subs help with bass uniformity. it's not about volume, rather, it's about even bass across all your seats. If you only care about one seat then one sub can work and should work. I just use one in my bedroom because I'm the only one who watches in there.
If you can up your budget a little I would recommend going with either the SB1000 or the Speedwoofer 10s MkII. I have the SB1000 in my bedroom and it's not a lot bigger than the Monolith 8", but digs a bit deeper and sounds tighter IMO. I have heard great things about the Speedwoofer 10s MkII, but have not heard one myself. Just keep in mind,, it is a pretty large sub, especially compared to the Monolith 8".
Would two Monolith 8" subs be better than one SB1000 or Speedwoofer? Well, it's difficult to say. Every room reacts differently to bass. All I know is that the SB1000 and Speedwoofer dig deeper and get louder than the Monolith 8".
Does that help or make things more confusing? :)

@@TheFrugalAudiophile Thanks! That does help, especially comparing the Monolith 8 to a known quantity such as the SB1000 ... but also still leaves me confused LOL! I've heard of port noise (chuffing?) but will need to look into it more.
I had some knowledge of 2.0 audio but as I've learned more about home theater and the importance of a good sub, I was leaning toward the "buy once, cry once" approach and to just get a SVS (SB1000). But from more research it seems it may be a "buy twice cry twice" situation with almost every reputable resource recommending duals (same model) to prevent peaks/nulls/smooth room effects. I'll have to set up with multiple listeners in mind, even if I'll be alone in the sweet spot much of the time.
I may wait for more reviews on the Monolith 8 as strangely I haven't found much online. And I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled for your full review. Thanks - have a great day!

@@gotastewgoin Duels certainly is the way to go for the most uniform bass response across all your seats! The Monolith is nice, but I would still recommend the SB1000. Actually, I would go for the SB1000 pro as it digs a little deeper the the standard model. It is a bit more costly at $600. If you can fit them, two Speedwoofer S10 MII's would be just about at good at $450 each. They dig right down to the coveted 20hz for home theater, and maybe a bit lower in room.
      Quick Story...
A few years ago I bought the SVS SB12 NSD when SVS was selling them at a deep discount. At the time it was the most expensive piece of audio gear I ever purchased at $400. I was glad I did tho and could not believe the difference between it and my old RCA HTiB sub. About a year later I purchased another at the same price and never looked back! I am so glad I made the investment, but I didn't have to do it all at once. This hobby is a journey and takes time. One can enjoy the journey and learning process just as much as the end result. You may even find that one sub is enough in your space and not need to buy another!
