Just couldn't resist using the trailer again, huh! 😉 I think this is the perfect setup - all the mods necessary to make it handle better and be more durable. The ultimate basher indeed, just leave it as is! 👍
The traxxas boss looks awesome. Can’t wait to see more cars come to the channel
Hey mr. Santa Maria I’m 15 and I’ve been asking some questions on your livestreams about the x maxx and I bit the bullet and bought my first one! The thing is crazy 😝
Thank mark for all your tips and answers 🙏
Awesome Mark, I love my new Hoss Its a beast to drive
I would like to see it with a hobbywing max 10 sct on 4s, but I bet this setup is just fine. Thanks for the video
Great video! The maxx is my go to car.
Great video Mark. I'm gonna get one now. I wanna bling it out too.
Love the trailer delivery!
Wow..it’s pretty quiet compared to any stock truck. 👍
That was a cute intro with the RC truck towing 😂
I am essantially building kinda same thing but the other way around lol. Started with Slash HCG 4x4 vxl, then put 2.8 badlands, open wheel body (Jconcepts Thruth 2), 20kg servo with aluminum horn and bellcrank, MIP driveshafts f/r, aluminum big bore shocks, e-revo slipper, Rpm a-arms and hub carriers f/r Hoss wheelie bar and stampede front bumper. So it's kinda like a Hoss but with a longer wheelbase and sway bars, it's amazing :D I think I"m going to call it the "SlHossh" haha
im doing a stampede to hoss conversion since the only a few things change from each
Love the content! The trailer is really cool!
That thing is so smooth and quiet
Hey I got a truggified 4x4 stampede I'm about to put the 540xl motor in. And I hope it's more controllable then the 2350kv motor I got in it now on 3s. By the way great videos and I love the channel.
Another great video! Dig the basic mods for a daily basher. now if we could only get you a windscreen fur ball for the microphone. maybe a headset mic?
Btw Great Show and Tell on the Shock Basics Setup
it woldnt be the "ultimate hoss" without the "ultimate trailer" 😂 keep up the the great work !
czcams.com/channels/pBjW1S4OeHKxman4AQYHbw.html?view_as=subscriber
You have to have the trailer that’s the best part lol 😝
Nice Hoss. I have put the 540xl can in my slash and it kills the slippers. Tried HR heavy duty and still killed it. May need to try the Maxx center diff for better results. Can’t wait for your try. Good luck and great channel.
I have the 4s system from the Maxx in a slash 4x4. Its fine. Fits perfect though I put in a LCG chassis. Not sure if that's the same motor.
You running it on the stock gear pitch?
@@reidisaacson9623 Platinum chassis it is lcg and yes stock gear pitch just changed pinion size.
@@jordansrc8483 Loosen the slipper maybe. As of right now I have two 4x4s and they both still on stock factory slippers
Nice vid mark
Traxxas maybe should offer a Hoss Wide Kit. Great looking truck Mark. 👍👍
Subbed 🥰
I did the 16mm shock mod, using it for ages back in the days on the pede 4x4 and slash, BUT those GTR looks ❤..since stock settings dont allow the car bottom out in front, and keep max outtravel, how is this like
I just turned mine 6s , , a few mods , larger pinion gear , run Arrma Kraton BLX system for power .
On the heat, its caused by the center diff. I've thrown one in my slash 4x4 running a hobbywing max10 sct + 3660 3300kv motor and it hits thermal cut off in about 30sec. The Hoss gets away with it because of the lower KV motor 😅
I have my hoss, and those are all the upgrades I want
😮 After buying the rig and putting on all the shown upgrades..... you are in terms of $$$ way over other 6S rigs or the MAXX. Hmm, if this is what you want in the end, that's fine. The upgrades drive shafts where not able to take my basing on my Rustler 4x4 VXL on 3S with Pro-Line 2.8 Tires. 3 out of 4 broke within minutes. Don't get me wrong, the thing is fun and runs very smooth but the $$$ for that setup is quite something.
Have you seen the new steel CV driveshafts for the HOSS? TRA9051X (front) and 9052X (rear) - They came out a week or two back.
Have you herd or know anything to hop up a part to the 4x4 slash axles. I went to my local hobby shop and I was asking for the rear axles for my sons 4x4 he said another way to upgrade it was to use the erevo axles just need modifying for those that bash..
i need those upgrades for my Hoss those parts are sweet
Which springs did you use for the GTR shocks?
I like this set up ! I want to make my hoss just like it . What weight oil did you use in the shocks ? Which springs
Use small bungie's to tie down the truck for realism lol. I kind of like the trailer
Have you seen the new steel CV driveshafts for the HOSS? TRA9051X (front) and 9052X (rear) - They came out a week or two back. I've seen a few videos of people using the older ones, the same ones you have and they have even broken those with this truck. Supposedly traxxas put these new ones out to handle the fun this truck is capable of. I don't have them yet myself but thought I'd share.
Nice video man! Question - Did you just use the shock fluid that came with the GTR kits?
Do you know if those cvd axles also fit the hcg slash 4x4 chassis ?
Have you tried a Loctite Stick?!? I have a blue stick of loctite that I picked up at a local auto parts store... it is such a great thing, no mess, no drips, has worked really well... it's like screw glue, literally a blue glue stick of thread locker... give it a try...
Curious what springs your running and shock oil front and rear
traxxas rustler VXL 4x4. added HD gas shocks, seems lowered. 3 weeks later, car is bottoming out too much , sparks seen on curbs. how to raise it for better offroad rebound , higher ride ? replace shock oil ? ADD more shock OIL ? change suspension to other shock mounts? which ones ? can you do a session on ride-height and adjusting shocks, and maintiaining shocks ?
what metal horn did you use part number i been looking for one and am kinda lost
thanks
Nice hoss!
What springs are you running with the gtr shocks ? Cool
Vid.
Any know which metal servo horn he used here? Or even any other metal horn that will fit the hoss?
Can I just replace the rear shocks or should I just replace all 4 ?
What servo horns did you go with?
I'm new to rc's can I'm looking to order the shocks you got but I'm unsure how to setup the springs for them. What's the best method to do that?
what shock oil did you use
Its contagious. I need a monster truck
.
What servo horn did you end up using?
Liked and subscribed!
This or the maxx whatcha think I should buy?
The stock rear hubs are the same as the nitro slash 2wd.
So the older Constant Velocity driveshafts work with the Hoss? They made ones speical for the Hoss but for all 4 wheels its $160 for front and rear steel drive shafts. But its about $100 for Constant Velocity driveshafts. So what would you do? Get CV driveshafts for less cash or spend the $160?
Looks awesome but isn’t it dangerous to run it with the metal shafts ? Cause now you got a metal spur center driveshaft and driveshafts so if it hits something the diff wil break 🤷♂️
I have a question If an rc car is running great for a first couple mins and then it just stops and the gears like start grinding and it won’t move what’s wrong with it ?
So the speed wobble issue people have experienced is just a crappy servo horn & steering servo ?
That hoss is the ultimate. So is my stampede 4wd
How do you set the brakes
Where u get ur banners? I just finished an rc room and need some banners to dress it up.
what weight oil in the shocks
Anyone have any ideas on how not to round out wheels?
I almost picked up a Hoss the other day, but went for the Arrma Notorious 6S instead. Have you seen the new Mojave EXB roller yet?
Notorious was definitely the move
@@RacingMason-ik1pu Agreed! I love all of my Arrma 6S cars. (got the Kraton 6S, Kraton 4S, Notorious 6S and the Talion 6S) The Hoss would have been nice for the light weight and portability though.
@@konfyoused hoss isnt worth it.Get a maxx or rustler 4x4
I'm gonna win a Hoss at the end of the month and I'm gonna get all the upgrades for it it's gonna be a IG Queen lol 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Good luck
So what all upgrades did you do? All the ones are the ones in your video description?
Planning to buy my first rc an I really have an eye on hoss, e revo 1/16 or like a typhon 6s or something
What color lock-tite you use? Does it butcher the hardware when you have to take it apart?
Use blue, don't use red if you plan on taking it off, RED WILL NOT COME OFF
I have been breaking my servo horn... My Local shop will not give me A Metal upgrade option. All they do is sell me the kit from traxxas. Needles to say I have spare parts now. Do you have a part number for the horn you used
I’m looking to get my first basher. I was looking at the Traxxas Maxx or Arrma kraton. . I’m leaning towards the Maxx. What your opinion out of all the bashers out there what would you buy if you could only have one.
Notorious 6s
Yea I sub. You know what your talking about. Nice video bro
What’s the final price after all the upgrades? I’m trying to get an idea of what to plan for
I built one up almost exactly the same, ends up being $400+ in upgrades with new parts
do you drive your Rc's while your kids play soccer?
i just got a hoss and now im killing the driveshafts and i dont have enough money for the upgraded ones ;-;
Would you recommend the Hoss over a Rustler 4x4 VXL, going to the hobby shop this weekend 😁
They're basically the same just depends on what look you want a truck or a truggy look 🤷🏾♂️
@@spoolyboi9434
They handle completely differently, so it's more than looks. Do you want great handling and stability or something for stunts? Personally I'd go for the Rustler. Not a huge fan of the Hoss.
@@JohnConnor12 of course thet handle differently each has different tires, suspension, body etc but they're all very modular to an extent which is cool I just personally wasn't a fan of the one or two I've had or driven. Definitely cool cars just not my style.
They are both quite different. It all depends on what you want to do with it. I like the Hoss for light bashing and bunny jops (dickin around) and I like my rustler for speed, and just over all handling
The hoss is basically a slash/stampede/rustler 4x4 with different wheels and different body I love traxxas it was my first hobby grade rc but their 1/10 scale 4x4 models are a little played out in my opinion
Hoss is more stampede 4x4/rustler/Maxx. Everyone complains about the price but you get what you pay for talking traxxas wise that is. Rustler 4x4 VXL is $400 and worth every penny but with the Hoss for $70 more you get upgraded better motor, better drive terrain, center dif, better wheels, esc fan, and a VERY good fun truck.
Have you broken your axles yet??
Try it on a rustler 4x4
How much I want that
Well damn are those houses big enough
No Tekno upgrades?
What is the best hobby grade RC for a first one?
Kit any kind no RTR
@@rcx8971 ima ago with e Revo VXL
@@rcx8971 going to order it in the morning.
@@laderrickjones7881 u should be happy
What weight shock oil are you using?
Stock 30wt
@@MarkSantaMaria what springs did you use? Part numbers would be appreciated.
Im gonna get a 4x4 rustler vxl rolling chassis, any recommendations for upgrades
Metal drive shafts are needed. The plastic ones suck
@@lukeimpola3693 thanks👍
Get a better car get a kit
@RC Daniel amazon
@@rcx8971 yeah maybe a slash 4x4 but i already got a 2wd🤷♂️
Mark love the videos, the Hoss is nice, but I've really been disappointed with the quality of this truck, I expected alot more from the price range of this truck. I own a first generation slash 4x4 platinum that I feel is way better.
Love The video! Thinking of getting one! You should do a test between the UDR you have (I think it’s in the colour white and orange) and the SBR 2.0 ( super baja Rey 2.0 from losi)
🔥👌👍
mark the things is nice and faster
Could turn my 4x4 rustler into a Hoss !?
#1RC Content on CZcams 👍Please Share Folks
The car is a Frankenstein always have and always will be you can get parts also most Traxxas vehicles slash stampede Maxx all parts that go on it that's Traxxas trying to make a $400 profit also thrown together vehicle with a new body
That's the selling point. Many interchangeable parts between models, but each have different characteristics. Also makes for great aftermarket support and I know I'll be able to get parts and service my cars for years to come. Also, company's are in business to make a profit. A product is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay and Traxxas will sell more hoss's than any other rc company will of their entire line, by a long shot. In the U.S. at least. I'm sure Tamiya sells a lot of units too, especially overseas.
Ah yes
👍🏻
Haha I think he put his caster blocks on backwards
Yiu said Se-ment.
I love how traxxas actually makes monster truck with higher chassis than differentials.
Arrma granite has a flat chassis🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Its basically the same chassis that the slash and others are based on, I'm more a fan of the newer maxx or x maxx for a MT from traxxas, the hoss is definitely cool tho
hint hint traxxas ultimate hoss
Wonder when traxxas is gonna make a plastic 4x4 drive shaft lol cheap
Man what the hell do u do with that body always coming out of the sides man ?? So annoyed
Traxxas would be the company stupid enough to put a servo on the bottom open 🙄, how in the hell can you bash that and not break it ????
First
Hate to be that guy but those are axels not drive shafts
Kinda unnecessary you barely bash them🤦♂️
czcams.com/channels/pBjW1S4OeHKxman4AQYHbw.html?view_as=subscriber
I will never understand why someone buys a car. Never drives it and does a bunch upgrades. Cause he/she knows it going to break. Duh, don’t buy it. Buy something you don’t have to upgrade. Oh wait he already has but he doesn’t bash them. .
Why be an ass about it
@@Tyler-es ok, ass!
I'm sure Mark is open to requests. If you have something you'd like to see, it seems like he'd at least try to accommodate. Like.... "Hey Mark, any chance next time you get a new RC, or on the next awesome deal you find on a HOSS, even though you know what is prone to breaking, could we see a bit of an everyday use breakdown of what will.... breakdown?"
He's had so much experience with these front and rear-ends (suspension / differentials) in his slash 4x4, rustler 4x4, slash ultimate, slash 2x4, slash slash and slash rc cars, he knows the stock plastic c-hub, turn knuckle will eventually break under extreme bashing or high-speed wreck. I remember a video where he specifically talks about the rear axle carriers breaking and how most of the time he leaves them all plastic. From what I remember, he does this because they are cheap, easy to replace and wants his kids to know how to work on their RCs.
In this video he said he wanted the HOSS as a go-to 10th scale basher. From how he was talking, seemed like he didn't want to worry about breaking things that are known to break. So he can just throw it in his car and take off. No-worries, Hassle-free.
Generally, I just watch a video and move on. There's always someone who has something mordacious to say. So I skip comments, in order to avoid being dragged into the dross, or jumping in head-first like I did today. But honestly, Mark seems to be one of the nicest you-tubers out there.
Even if he wasn't, inconsiderate comments used for sarcasm or belittlement are unnecessary.
Also Raven, if you intend to have the last word like your response to the previous reply to your comment, enjoy....
Too much Traxxas on this channel. There is more to RC than Traxxas.
You mad?
@@Force1don I'm not mad i just get bored with Traxxas.
sorry do not like the hoss from traxxas
