Seriously though, while I love the brand can we just acknowledge the lack of quality in the audio system? The HiFi is downright terrible, and the Harmon Kardons are only ok. If you have a fantastic car, which these are, then you need audio worthy of it as well. The Bimmertech Alpha One speakers are absolutely the way to go, with vastly better sound quality and plug n play ease of installation.
I cannot recommend these more highly and am running full Alpha One systems in my last 3 BMWs and installed into dozens more. You will thank yourself for making this upgrade. Shoot me a message and I can help source these for you as well.

I was a car-stereo installer for years, and this vid gives me some good memories (and a little PTSD too, haha). We used to keep jars in the shop of door clips for every manufacturer. We broke plugs and clips all the time. The odd things I noted here were the changing out of the rear speakers, which, I would not bother with. They are only there for "fill". Bimmertech should just concentrate on the front stage. I was also curious as to whether they had center channel speakers on the M2. I thought I saw that they did. If they do, that is a key component to swap out. I also never get hung up on how speakers look. We were an MB Quart dealer, as well as Polk audio, and they looked very unimpressive. Years later I got to hang with Dr Polk and he looked at me like I was an idiot when I mentioned any visual observations on a speaker! haha!

Dang, it takes a lot of good old fashioned carefulling to put all these speakers into the HK M2. Almost like working on a Mini where the cabin is as small as it gets and you really need to be up to date with your yoga classes ;) Nice job!

I have Alpha Ones in my 2014 BMW 328D and the AMP I absolutely love the sound…..Best stereo system ever in any car I have ever owned also most expensive system ever
Excellent choice and Bimmertech even has a new amp now too. The upgrade is already better and will do nothing but improve with speaker break in.

I have two BMWs, one with HIFi and one with H/K; the one with HiFi I added at match up amp, sub amp and sub, had it professionally tuned and it sounds amazing. The shop specializes incomplete audio installs costing multiple thousands of dollars and the owner who tuned mine said that there would actually be no benefit in changing the speakers.
In my H/K cars I added a sub amp and sub and it sounds 90% as good as my custom system in the other car, because I don’t have to rely on the under seat base drivers as much and can use the equalizer more effectively.
In my opinion, take the time and money and invest in an amp and a sub and leave the 14 speakers alone; power and/or tuning in car audio is everything.

I just traded in my M340 for an M2 two weeks ago, this weekend I added an Alpha One 10 channel amp to the car and I’ll be adding a sub amp and down firing sub to the truck this week. The changing out of the amp certainly added some more punch/power to the system, and clarify because of their tune but the H/K speakers are certainly adequate in this set up; once the sub is added, the system will sound awesome. I used the bimmertech amp instead of the Match amp simple because I didn’t want to tune the amp and the shop that did my 228 is 3 hours away and hard to book so I went with the bimmertech tune.

It is substantially better and absolutely worth it. I have 12 speakers as the G87 doesn't have tweeters in the rear side panels. It's worth it!! I can source Bimmertech gear as well for folks who need it.
I plan to upgrade my X3M abysmal HK system, its so flat and underpowered. I'm embarrassed they even put it in, they dropped the 650w+ amp for a 400w amp and it shows. The bavauto 1500$ amp I've heard barely does anything as well so better speakers should do the trick.
