People should really stop using the term "budget friendly" to describe this S10 iteration... This thing is not cheap by any means. We are just encouraging companies to charge us whatever they want, whenever they want...
Right lol. I bought it last week and it's one of the best phones I've ever had but I have no clue why they call "budget friendly". If you told someone 5 years ago that a $750 dollar phone would be "budget friendly" they would've been shocked
It's ridiculous and they're comparing to Iphone price cheap but is not cheap by any means at all and they're coming out with phones that have everything for 400-500 dollars. Price a $50,000 car $40,000 and say that it's cheap and budget compared to a $100,000 car XD
everything they took off of the S10 to make it the S10e is what makes me love this phone lol smaller, capacitive fingerprint sensor, flat screen, lower price..
@@felreizmeshinca7459 yeah, that's true, but fast charge kinda makes up for it.. if this phone could last 12 hours of moderate to intense use without recharge, it would be perfect for me 😅 still pretty good =)
Even with the compromises, I'd get the S10e over both the S10 & S10+. I'm a fan of the flat display and side fingerprint sensor. I'm fine with not having a third rear camera or second front camera. Great video.
@@igorostrovskynoskov6057 All they had was the black or white variants. I asked for the white, he mistakenly brought out the black so, short story long, I have the Prism Black. It's goes into a case or skin, anyway. I think the hottest color is the flamingo pink, though.
With the standard size increasing every year and then anything larger being the + version, at what size do we stop and say ok this is big enough. I don't think I would want anything bigger than the S10 and the S10e is perfectly fine. If I want something with a large screen, then that's where a tablet comes in.
May 2020, I have the 10E and love it. Bought it because of the smaller size, easy to put in pocket and not feel uncomfortable. 2nd reason I bought this phone, speed! Speed rules when it comes actual usage no matter what anybody may say. My previous phone was Samsung S50. Didn't like the size, uncomfortable to carry in my pockets. Bigger screen was nice, 6.4 to 5.8 but convience wins for me. The 4000ah battery was a big benefit compaired to the 3100ah battery in the 10E. Where the 10E really shines compaired to the S50 is the processor, snapdragon 855 is just plain fast no haveing to wait for anything to load. Premium phone over budget phone. Is it worth it? To me it is no longer frustrsted when using phone, it's called peace of mind! Smaller size just perfect for me and the sensor to turn on the phone always works! Would not trade it for any of the newest phones on the market! From a 72 yr old android user and IPhones suck!
Wait a minute, I was expecting a review on daily experience not spec review. Probably because I didn't watch it till the end but it would be better if it's much straight forward. Thank you for making review nevertheless.
The last phone that I remember was so tempting to get and beautifully and powerfully packed , was the Xperia Z3 Compact at the time, now I have the same feeling about S10e plus I think if not the best its definitely one the top 5 phones on the market right now. The price is so damn high for us with decreasing the Rial value to Dollar. Its almost 5x more expensive than last year if would be released then. God bless Vmerica.
Just upgraded from my s7 edge to this. love the flat screen, such an upgrade. the s10 and s10 plus was too big, this is the perfect size. not budget at all and not super overpriced.
Been 2 weeks using the S10e and I'm really happy with it. Traded in the S9+ which made it a $185 upgrade (not bad) I liked the S9+ but it was a little too big for me and one thing I really hated was the edge screen. S10e doesn't have that issue and the more pocketable form factor is great. Love the fingerprint scanner on the side though had a little trouble to adapt to it coming from a bunch of phone (S9+ included) with the scanner on the back. But after a little while you get used to it. The One UI is really good. Closer to pure Android. It's definitely miles away from the ole TouchWiz. It's true though regarding battery life, on th S9+ I could get 1 and half day easy.. this one needs to be plug in every night. Fast charging is really helpful though. If I really use the phone a lot, I just need to plug it in for 15-20min end of afternoon to have a good margin to finish the day.
Hey, and do you think that was worthy the change? Just because I have aswell s9+ and I want to change it for one of the s10's, not sure.. Just dont want to move to one less worthy than the one I got.
How is the front camera? Does it blur the face even without beauty mode? I watched some videos where they said that got fixed now but im still in doubt
I enjoyed Kevin's thorough review. I have a Galaxy S7 and was thinking about jumping up to the S10, but I think the S10e is probably the smarter and more economical choice for me. Plus I can factory reset my S7 and turn it in to Samsung and get $200 off the purchase of the S10e.
Took my S10 back after a couple of days and swapped it for this and am more than happy I didn't like the in display fingerprint scanner or the size this is the one to get!!! Great video as always!!! ✌️
I'm not sure if I should get the s10 or s10e, I dont really care abt the curved display, and I prefer the power button fingerprint sensor, but I want the bigger screen, was the bigger screen better?
PotatoStar It's nice to go back to a flat screen after having the s8and s9 and I didn't notice any difference in the screen asKevin says it's 1080p out the box anyway I never changed it as it does drain the battery a bit more the 10e is plenty big enough!!!
@@potatostar4611 Having played with all three of the S10 series, I agree with John ^^. S10 felt to me like a compromised S10+, rather than a "refined" S10e. Meaning the S10+ isn't that much bigger or heavier than the 10 (although a bit wider), yet has a significantly larger battery. The S10e is wonderfully lightweight and very easy to use one-handed; more so than the S10 (not a huge difference, but just enough unless you have LeBron hands 🤣). The only thing I didn't like about the 10e (and it's nitpicking) is there's a thin black bezel surrounding the whole flat display. Prob something one can get used to, IJS I'm not in love with the concept of it. So if that bothers you, and/or you prefer a curved screen, want a dedicated telephoto lens, and the in-display FP scanner, go for the S10. Otherwise the 10e is a better choice IMO.
90% of the S8, S9 and S10's out in the real world are never taken out of the default 1080p resolution setting. Either people don't know or don't care. I think the S10e is the phone for the masses!
@@Prince-fr2lr - Most people are working, studying and doing family stuff so they don't have time to spend on tech details. If the phone does the basics for them they're happy.
Def not true, i know lots of people with S10 and S10+ phones and those people are not tech crazy either and they al know this option is there, and some enable it.
Unless you are using the SGS10 with the GearVR. There is no point in changing the resolution to 2k. I just wished that Samsung had included the health scanners that are found on the SGS10/+
I agree of what you said bro..in my opinion and experience using the Galaxy s10e will this is the best of all android phones that have ever made...size does matter...small is incredible!
Well, here it is June 3, 2020 and I picked up my S10e a few days ago for $300. Which is a real bargain considering my previous phone was an S4 I bought for $200 and had for six years. I'm not one to swap out phones ever two years.
Chester Walker Budgets are relative. The budget of someone who makes $80K a year isn’t the same as the budget of someone only pulling in $30K a year, but it’s still a budget.
I guess I am spoiled when it comes to price. Bought my S7 for $99 and continued with my Verizon account, this from Best Buy a couple years ago. The other day a Samsung rep asked me about buying a new S10. I told her it was TOO EXPENSIVE. She walked away. I noted she didn't have any customers. Maybe too expensive for most of us?
Corners didn't need to be cut, the prices are whack. Let's face facts. Also, agree with the camera negatives. The landscapes are nice with wide lens but I'm used to also having a macro mode/ lens standard for a camera of this price tag. The built in speakers aren't the best either. Basically it's the processing and capacity. I'm enjoying the size, and flat screen, and the fingerprint scanner its crazy accurate and fast. Even so, i'll be looking about to trade in for something that hits more points. Bixby's learning curve for my voice is annoying! I love Samsung pay and will always look to use it.
I wonder how we got to $750 being a "budget" telephone. Anyway, I did just get one after I couldn't squeeze more life out of my 3 1/2 year old LG G4. I did some research and I found the S10e more practical for me than the S10 and S10+. I got another trip coming up next month and wanted something that can take some good pictures along with doing the usual smartphone stuff. I strongly advise anyone buying a phone like this to keep it in a good case. It doesn't take much of a drop to break your $750 treasure. Good video.
Good review. I don't have a smartphone yet, but I'll get a Samsung when I do. I have great experience with their products and my friends who have Samsungs love 'em!
I brought back my S10e and got the S10 plus. If your a power user don't get the E, go with the plus you'll appreciate the 4100mah battery. The battery life alone is with the price difference to me. I like the ultra sonic finger print sensor better to because it's in a better location then the one on the E. I don't have to reach up, just a quick double tap or wake to raise.
Owned every S phone. Ive owned my s10e for over two weeks and find it the best phone ive ever owned. I bought the E for the size, only thing missing is the power sharing I wished it came with like its bigger brothers. Texting was a little tough and needed to get used to because of the smaller size and I have big hands. Great phone very very gast
I agree with the comments that this isn't truly "budget". I think the premium prices for flagships are absurd (which may be appropriate if we're calling things "premium"), maybe this is the new "midrange". All said - I love this phone so far.
My notes on the Galaxy S10e: It's still too big. I want a 5 inch or even a 4 inch phone. There's an app in the Galaxy store called Good Lock. This is Samsung's official customizer for OneUI that frankly should come standard. It lets you do all kinds of things to customize the look and feel of your phone, and I recommend it. If I'd had my choice, I would have kept the telephoto lens over the wide angle lens. Or I'd have taken all three rear cameras and not bothered with the selfie cam because I don't take selfies and I don't video conference. I dig the hole punch design over the giant Apple/Google style notch because people have been playful with it. Bixby is actually pretty cool. The vanilla Bixby Assistant isn't as helpful as Google Assistant, but that's why GA is still there. What makes Bixby cool is the automation. You can program quick commands to perform a series of tasks from one simple phrase. Bixby Routines can automate processes without your input at all. I've programmed my phone to launch Spotify when my bluetooth headphones are connected, and to launch Audible when wired headphones are connected, and that's just scratching the surface. It can take some time to get set up, but once you do it's pretty slick.
I'm getting this phone tomorrow, and I like the thumb scanner being on the side. The last thing I want on my screen when I want to watch a video is a thumbprint lol!
Honestly, you are perhaps the only person I've watched so far that mentions the yellow tinge on indoors photos. I take a lot of photos indoors at work on my s7 and struggle with color accuracy. Was hoping for an improvement with the s10e
Samsung Camera App ALWAYS exposes a bit too much (coming from S8). Just toggle to brightness slider (when tapping focus) a bit down and you´ll be amazed
Samsung makes a line of galaxy J phones for significantly cheaper. They mirror their Galaxy S counter parts but with less ram and memory, with slightly cheaper hardware. They're all under like 200$ i have the galaxy J7 and it mirrors the s7. They're dope phones for the price and work fine.
Still using s5. Know many people still using it. It's light. Flat screen so easy to handle. Still going strong. Running out of space though. Touchwiz is not great either
Well I checked it out in the flesh yesterday and it definitely is a small device. I compared it with the other phones in the S10 range. I'm 6'2" and found it a little difficult to initially write text messages but obviously I'd get used to it. The screen is smaller but beautiful and the sound was every bit as good as my Note 9 (it was only a quick test though because I didn't want to annoy everyone in the store). The S10 is a good compromise on size between the S10+ and the S10e but the 10e has everything I need and NO curved screen (👍) , which is where my Note 9 cracked despite being in a Whitestone Dome and a case. Definitely pocketable and quite (too? ) cute.
I can't with the battery I ended up returning mine because the most I'd get is 3hrs SOT with light use. Heavy use and I'd have to pop it on the charger around lunch time (I leave the house at 7am)
Battery is pretty good. I use it for a good while and it still upholds. The charging speed is crazy fast too. 30 minutes of charging will get me about 60 to 75 percent when its completely dead

Love my Prism Blue 855 powered S10e, It's the best phone I've ever had, every month they release a security update, Samsung made their XR killer thats actual competitor is the XS, and iOS is the most basic boring OS ever made, LOVE THIS PHONE..... LUV IT!
I think the best thing about this phone (reason why I got it too) is it's smaller size. I am sick of carrying tablets in my pocket, the phone sizes are getting ridiculous.
Spot On! Just upgraded to the S10e from the S7. Big difference! I have a hard time paying $1,000 or more for a phone that I will probably have to upgrade every 2 years. BUT, this phone does offer what most people will need for everyday use - at a decent price. AND, I prefer the smaller phone to fit my hands better. Good Review Kevin. TY
So I just purchased the Samsung S10e, been wanting to move out of the iOS platform. It took me awhile and researched a lot. I am pretty darn happy with the Samsung S10e, and moving to Android wasnt too bad actually. Great video, this helped making a decision from the regular Samsung S10 or the Samsung S10e...bestbuy had an open box deal and it was only 450...so I chose the S10e.
Agree on the fingerpring sensor: physical is better than optical, also better placement. Camera: I think outside any camere can take good photos (or at least should). I wish they would stop making curved screens alltogether, I don't see any benefit, just accidental touches, and more fragile design.
The S10e is a home run for me. The size, power, screen, value, everything is just right. My only complaint is that the screen seems to constantly wake up in my pocket regardless of settings. I've seen many others complain about this as well. If they can fix this, I won't upgrade again for years.
Thanks... just ordered on Prime Day (great that Amazon honors my birthday!) for a replacement for my wife's S4. Look forward to the high speed camera. As for the swing.... great that you are facing the target, but, too much knee flex and are coming "over the top". Check out Golftec.
I like big cells n flat screen so I bought 5 Huawei mate 20x at 600$ each dis Wednesday Just got them Today n wow almost perfect cellphone. They came from Taiwan n wow thats some fast shipping.
That yellow "tinge" you say can be indicative of a camera shooting at the D65 luminance standard. Those that are not usedd to seeing TVs calibrated to D65, also sometimes complain of a "yellow tinge", because you are used to seeing photos, TVs, videos on your computer, output a a cooler white balance than D65.
I tried the s10e for a couple weeks and went back to my LG G8. The S10e had better speakers but that's about it. They can be had for roughly the same price on eBay.
Just got a new, unlocked s10e for $550 (USD) yesterday which REALLY makes it a fantastic value and "budget friendly". Was going for the Pixel 3a XL, but really wanted microSD slot, wireless charging, IP68 rating. And with the Powershare function, I can finally take my S3 Frontier smartwatch when I travel and leave the bulky charger at home!
The S10 and S10e are now essentially the equivalent price. So it's slightly bigger screen (I find the S10's screen slightly poppier when it comes to dynamic range and color), slightly heavier phone, added telephoto lens, and 2 extra gigs of RAM, versus a phone that is smaller, easier in the hand, 6 instead of 8 gigs of RAM, and capacitance security on power button (wicked cool, fast, and convenient). The QHD screen of the S10 is not really a full 1440 and 1080 is the default mode anyway. The S10's screen is a bit better than the S10e's, but if you don't have them side-by-side, you wouldn't really complain about the size of the S10e's screen. It's with the S10+ that the screen and battery life exhibit a big difference over the S10e. But now that the S10 and S10e phones are going for the same money, it makes for a harder decision.
Thank you for this video. A family member purchased the 10E, they were iPhone users now prefer the 10E. The Samsung may well be my next phone. Suggestion; enough with the background music, it quickly becomes annoying background noise. Be aware we came to listen to you not music. Many folks have hearing and English language difficulties, thus background music is extremely annoy. Your background music distracts from an otherwise excellent presentation.
Honestly no big deal, the s9 was 64gb. How much was the s9, 128gb? This is kinda related but remember when the iphone 6s was 649 for 16gb? Or the 7 was 699 for 32gb? I think the s10e price is fair.

I am planning to get one. It is cheaper, I dont take much selfies but I believe that selfie camre does a good job overall. Rear cameras are just good, comparable to other flasgship models and photos coming out of it is just beautiful. They have slight changes from phone to phone but we have passed that phase of smartphones that has good camera or bad camera. They all have good cameras, some of them are better in some specific ways but they all perform decent in every situation. Like that, Samsung's selfie game is not that powerfull as others, but I would take the display on samsung phones for any other phone. Also that punch hole cut out is the best implementation of the notch styled displayes so far. My friends who uses S10 series tells me taht you barely notice it after some time like 2 hours of usage. It is a cool look overall, people have just A class wallpaper just for that screen and I think taht looks cool. What is really missing is that, we dont have a notification light and if samsung just adds a notification warning around the punch hole, it would be amazing to see and would be even more cooler. The phone is good, it is cheaper but not a cheap phone for sure. I am currently using my trustworthy Xiaomi Mi5, I am planning to get a Samsung Galaxy S10E, I hope it doesn't dissapoint me.
There's a huge disconnection as to what budget means to the majority. $300 is a budget amount, an amount that can be obtain in a month for the working class and won't eat into the bills. Of course it varies alot but I could see more individuals affording that price tag.
750$? yeah not anymore, in my country Samsung used to sell these at 699$ at launch, now they are running a special promotion and you can grab the s10e for as low as 639$ and Samsung also gives you an official glass screen protector and their older fast charge wireless charging pad for free with it... the S10 series has really dropped down in price in less than a month... S10+ used to start at 939$ here and you got samsung's 10W wireless charger and a 10W wireless charger for your car as well with it, and the Galaxy Buds if you add another 40$ to that, the S10 was 849$ with the same add-ons and promotions like the S10+ above. now Samsung sells the S10+ here starting 849$, the S10 starting 749$, the S10e starting 639$, and sure you don't get all the extras like back when the phone launched, but they dropped the prices down almost 10% in less than a month of the S10 series being out... just makes me wonder how more the S10 series will drop in price by the end of April, the S10e is already at the OnePlus 6T/7's and Xiaomi's flagships price territory...

For people who love taking photos.. they sure as hell dont use there phones as their main go to option.. if youre relying on your phone for photos, youre barely a hobbyist. I will say for a guy whose got a massive apple monitor in the background.. i get a sense that youre trying to give it a fair review and i can appreciate that..
The guy at ATT did me right. I was ready to buy, and wait for shipping, an s9. He told me in no uncertain words, you would be insane to not just get the s10e for 5 bucks more a month. Fine motha fucka, i'll get it. Had it for 2 days and i'm loving it. I hate lag, and this phone has never heard of it. It's just fast. Nothing loads, it's just there as soon as you press a button. The smaller screen size is the only drawback for me and that's only because i just hit 41 and my dumb eyes are crapping out on me. Reading glasses guys. Get ready for them at 40. Anyway. I'm happy with my new phone.
I really do appreciate that if you get the $700 version you're basically missing out on only a few 3 things which to be honest aren't even in the phone itself like you said you still give the same chipset still getting the same work still get the same wireless charging still get the same glass front and back still get the same perfect model the 10 e really isn't that small when I have literally held a cell phone that was about two to three inches
Honestly, on a smaller phone like the 10e the 1080p display should be fine for anyone. If you really need that high quality video experience, then switch to a larger tablet or TV.
People should really stop using the term "budget friendly" to describe this S10 iteration... This thing is not cheap by any means. We are just encouraging companies to charge us whatever they want, whenever they want...
Exactly, they all need to stop saying that ,,, it's B.S. i don't know anyone with or without money who thinks this thing is budget
Right lol. I bought it last week and it's one of the best phones I've ever had but I have no clue why they call "budget friendly". If you told someone 5 years ago that a $750 dollar phone would be "budget friendly" they would've been shocked

I mean, 750$ is quite a big inversion, in the other hand you got a really good flagship phone, at a great price, not cheat, but you pay what you get
It's ridiculous and they're comparing to Iphone price cheap but is not cheap by any means at all and they're coming out with phones that have everything for 400-500 dollars. Price a $50,000 car $40,000 and say that it's cheap and budget compared to a $100,000 car XD

Battery life is fine, plus it has quick charge of course.
I agree!
Just upgraded from my s7 edge to this. love the flat screen, such an upgrade. the s10 and s10 plus was too big, this is the perfect size. not budget at all and not super overpriced.
How much does it cost now in 2020
Been 2 weeks using the S10e and I'm really happy with it. Traded in the S9+ which made it a $185 upgrade (not bad)
I liked the S9+ but it was a little too big for me and one thing I really hated was the edge screen.

Watching your video made me love my phone more. Thank you, Kevin! I am so loving my S10e. ☺

Well, here it is June 3, 2020 and I picked up my S10e a few days ago for $300. Which is a real bargain considering my previous phone was an S4 I bought for $200 and had for six years. I'm not one to swap out phones ever two years.
I didn't read all the comments but how crazy is it that this is a BUDGET phone at $750?!?! Value really is relative!

In Canada it's $1125. Oof lol

@@ExcaliburIgnited : What did you trade in for the $250 price?
@@karthurjr It was last August ish when they went on super sale on Amazon. That's the only reason I bought it.
How about putting the phone to sleep, is there any other way except power button?
I use my phone for work. Apps running all day GPS, CZcams, music.
Do the pictures taken from the front camera soften your face even with the beauty mode off?
I agree with the comments that this isn't truly "budget". I think the premium prices for flagships are absurd (which may be appropriate if we're calling things "premium"), maybe this is the new "midrange". All said - I love this phone so far.
Ben Moore is the battery good enough for a day?
My notes on the Galaxy S10e:
It's still too big.
Good review, I completely agree..best phone I have had...so far.
Honestly, you are perhaps the only person I've watched so far that mentions the yellow tinge on indoors photos. I take a lot of photos indoors at work on my s7 and struggle with color accuracy. Was hoping for an improvement with the s10e

Good review. The size of the device is definitely appealing.
Definitely pocketable and quite (too? ) cute.

So I just purchased the Samsung S10e, been wanting to move out of the iOS platform. It took me awhile and researched a lot. I am pretty darn happy with the Samsung S10e, and moving to Android wasnt too bad actually. Great video, this helped making a decision from the regular Samsung S10 or the Samsung S10e...bestbuy had an open box deal and it was only 450...so I chose the S10e.
got the S10 and loving it, was holding out for a P30 pro, but once that notch was confirmed I got the S10, notches are so 2018
Regular?... me too
The hole punch on the S10 takes up more space and looks worse than the centred teardrop on the P30 Pro.

We're here folks. The era of calling a $750 USD phone "budget" is upon us.
Thanks for this review. I am on the verge of purchasing two and your video helped me make up my mind as to which ones to purchase.
750$? yeah not anymore, in my country Samsung used to sell these at 699$ at launch, now they are running a special promotion and you can grab the s10e for as low as 639$ and Samsung also gives you an official glass screen protector and their older fast charge wireless charging pad for free with it...
the S10 series has really dropped down in price in less than a month...
S10+ used to start at 939$ here and you got samsung's 10W wireless charger and a 10W wireless charger for your car as well with it, and the Galaxy Buds if you add another 40$ to that,
the S10 was 849$ with the same add-ons and promotions like the S10+ above.
now Samsung sells the S10+ here starting 849$, the S10 starting 749$, the S10e starting 639$, and sure you don't get all the extras like back when the phone launched, but they dropped the prices down almost 10% in less than a month of the S10 series being out...
just makes me wonder how more the S10 series will drop in price by the end of April, the S10e is already at the OnePlus 6T/7's and Xiaomi's flagships price territory...

Anyway. I'm happy with my new phone.
finally a reviewer that says exactly the same thing about what i think of the s10 cameras.
For some reason it feels like the video is not synchronised with the audio. Looks weird
It makes me happy to no that it’s not just me that noticed that. I thought I was going crazy.
Honestly, on a smaller phone like the 10e the 1080p display should be fine for anyone. If you really need that high quality video experience, then switch to a larger tablet or TV.
