I used to compute from Donny to Sheffield on that line in the late 70s. Coming home at night, when the steel works were open, was like a a train ride through the fires of Hades!
The scary thing is I was 11 at the time and all of that I remember well. Can tell you what changed but most of it has stayed the same with the exception of the masses of silver birch trees in a few places or the fact that the Sheffield Supertram is now extended to Rotherham from Tinsley Meadowhall South and past Magna running partly on the freight only line shown here. Great vid that, memories of the Tinsley depot open day, sept '90 there, when they shuttled an oldskool DMU along that freight-only section of line to the yards and depot, skirting the remnants of the once mighty Tinsley complex! Thanks for sharing, awesome :)

Hope they have redoubled that track now as that red light took ages. Wonder who made the idiot decision to remove the other track? I do love the Yorkshire accent!
You don't get the sounds of the railway anymore with newer trains, they're so quiet and boring. I really miss the class 101's, I wish they were able to make a comeback, they were my favourite trains to ride on when I was young.

This route is the one that trains traversed in the early 1960s from Sheffield Victoria to Doncaster or to York via Moorthorpe. Rotherham Central was the poor relation then to Masboro eventually closing and the reopening This was a busy passenger and freight route and many a Gresley pacific would end up at Darnall shed in the early morning via this route it is a shadow of its former self but thanks for showing the route does it still exists in 2020@@leathandrubb
Not sure if you travelled a lot in the Manchester area but do you have any vids using the MSC railway inside Trafford Park would love to see some vids of that - Also do you have any that used the old Mayfield Station next to Manchester Piccadilly
