Cooking Sections ile mandaların izinde - 2 / Tracing water buffaloes with Cooking Sections - 2

Sanatçı ve aktivist ikili Cooking Sections, Çamuralem başlıklı projeleriyle 17. İstanbul Bienali’nin katılımcıları arasında. Projeye odaklanan dört bölümlük video serisinin ikincisinde, şehrin sulak alanlarının yok olma tehlikesi altında olmasının İstanbul mandaları üzerindeki etkilerinin izini süren Çamuralem’i sanatçıların kendisinden dinliyoruz. Sohbete ayrıca proje kapsamında Eylül ayında Arnavutköy Baklalı Piknik Alanı’nda gerçekleştirilen Manda Festivali’ne mandalardan esinlenerek bestelediği yeni parçasıyla katılan Gülinler de dahil oluyor.
Çamuralem aynı zamanda Tophane’deki Büyükdere35’te mekâna özgü bir yerleştirme olarak da yer alıyor. Canlıların beslenme ve büyüme biçimlerine dair araştırmaların farklı malzemeler, tadım ve seslerle sunulduğu Büyükdere35’teki muhallebiciye manda sütünden ürünleri tatmaya herkesi bekliyoruz.

Artist and activist duo Cooking Sections, is among the participants of the 17th Istanbul Biennial with their new project Wallowland. In the second part of the four-part video series focusing on the project, we hear from the artists themselves about the project, which traces the interactions of Istanbul’s water buffaloes with multiple ecologies in the wetlands around the city that are under threat of disappearance. Singer-songwriter Gülinler also joins the conversation and talks about the song she composed for the buffaloes and performed at the Water Buffalo Festival, held back in September at Arnavutköy Baklalı picnic area as part of the project.
Wallowland is also a site-specific installation at Büyükdere35 in Tophane in the form of a Muhallebici (kaymak and sütlaç pudding shop). We invite everyone to taste buffalo milk products at Büyükdere35, where the metabolic surveys are presented through different materials, tastings and sound.
The 17th Istanbul Biennial continues until 20 November. Admission free.
