This brings back memories. I was 8 in 1970 and my paternal grandmother, who was 84 at the time and in a wheelchair, was staying with us for several months. She loved this show and watched it all the time. I would hear this theme song many times. Buzzr is airing the show now and I heard the familiar music the other night. Suddenly I was transported back to the 1960’s.

Charles Fox with Score Productions was the composer behind this. He has the "Love American Style" theme and many other pieces to his hall of fame career. It's the only game show theme with original lyrics that I can recall.

The Wizard of Odds, All-Star Blitz, Monopoly, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, and GSN’s Chain Reaction all had lyrics. But this was the first.

To Tell the Truth came on at 7:00 pm in syndication where I grew up in the 1970s. It drove my parents crazy that I wouldn’t get up to do the dishes until the closing credits and I got to hear this theme!

I've always loved that song, from when I first heard it back in the day. Some of those game shows had really great theme songs in the '70s, like Pyramid and Match Game.

That's Paul Alter, director of Goodson-Todman game shows of the 1960s, 70s and 80s.
