I have had SO many questions about cooking oils lately, so I wanted to make this video to help simplify and clarify the best and worst oils to cook with. Let me know if you have any questions. XO - Dani
Thank you so much for this video! I was wondering about grape seed oil and sesame seed oil, and if those are good oils to use? Also, what about sunflower oil that is cold pressed (I believe Trader Joe’s for example has cold pressed sunflower seed oil)? Or does that still go through a lot of processing?
I would actually love it if you would do videos on healthy snacks as am currently on a weight loss journey and would love healthy 'cheat meal' alternatives
Yes and agree would love these types of videos as well as the healthy recipes. I would love to see videos like healthy grocery shopping hauls and trips to the grocery store and what to choose! 😊
This video was almost perfect timing. I recently started to purge my kitchen from all the processed foods with the bad oils and it is a challenge! Almost everything has soybean oil and vegetable oils. I realize now the benefits of cooking and baking from scratch. Your video just reaffirmed that what I was doing was good. Love your content! Thanks for the videos!
Can not say enough how much to appreciate you doing this video!!!!! I’m often stuck and perplexed as to what oils are best to use in cooking and baking. And yes!! Videos on leveling up snacks etc. thank you Dani !!🥰
So happy to see this video. I am bummed about sunflower oil being on the bad list. 🙁 I do love coconut oil and evoo. It has taken me years to wean my husband off of premade/bottled salad dressing. I now make all of our dressing and have several Ball jars of them in the fridge at any given time. 😋
As always, this video is extremely helpful and informative!! Thank you for taking the mysteries and myths away about healthy and unhealthy fats and giving us the truth.
I was just researching oils after I recently discovered Dr. Eric Berg on CZcams. It so nice to watch your breakdown :) I'd love to see a video on healthy snacking and alternatives!
Hey Dani can you please do a series on diabetes friendly meals? Particularly recipes for older adults. My mom is finding it very challenging to cook low glycemic meals.
Great video Dani! I was just looking this up since so many oils are polyunsaturated and aren’t meant to be heated to such a high heat. Thanks again for the vid. Love you!
Dani, I love these types of videos and hope you do many more!!!! I have been eating healthier and making better and healthier food choices. I love your recipes as well, but hoping you can bring more videos like these and so informative!! The ideas of healthy snack ideas and what to buy at the grocery store would be great!! Also one reason my food choices has also changed is my cholesterol levels tend to stay high even though I try to eat healthier. I cook with almond oil and extra virgin olive oil. Would coconut oil and the ghee be okay where I am watching my cholesterol levels? Thanks so much and love your channel!! ❤️looking forward to you incorporating these with all your delicious recipes😊
Thank you Dani for this as this has been really helpful. I’m a huge fan of your channel, thank you so much for your videos 🙂 I do wish you were in London
Excellent presentation and very much appreciated; you are quite a sensible person who is not extremely strict but a solution balanced oriented approach to eating healthy and that makes you a fantastic food adviser. All your videos will be welcomed! TKU!
This is actually really helpful information that the mainstream is unaware of. 👍 Although I only consume olive oil at room temperature or colder because the structure changes once you heat it up turning a healthy fat into an unhealthy one. Thank you for sharing this great video. 😊
Putting healthy oils in your body are so critical. All the nutritionists I follow have the exact same five you outlined. Thanks for sharing your expertise and communicating very clearly the benefits of each. I do enjoy your videos very much. Thanks for caring!
Thank you so much for doing this video. It just backs up what I have been researching and learning. I’ve learned so much after finding your channel back in October. I’ve even got my sister hooked to. Two years ago I didn’t have a choice but to change my life style all the way around. It has been challenging especially since the majority of stuff we buy have SO MANY unhealthy ingredients. You don’t really realize it until you have to start reading the ingredients and studying up on what they are. It’s a shame that we keep getting told that everyone needs to start eat healthy but what is ACTUALLY GOOD FOR YA SO MANY CANNOT AFFORD IT CAUSE ITS SO EXPENSIVE. REALLY SAD 😞 It’s no wonder the US has the worst diet out there with all that is allowed to go in our foods. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK THAT YOU DO💖😀
This was very helpful. Thank you! Yes a video on healthy quick fix snacks would be wonderful. I struggle with fluctuating weight loss and gain, so really want to get it right this year.
I love using avocado oil and grass fed butter. They’re my go-tos in the kitchen. Thank you for the wonderful information in this video. I’d love videos on breads and snacks.
Hi Dani! A very informative video, thanks for giving us your search results and recommendations. It can be very overwhelming when deciding what’s good or better or safer……sheesh! I like how you broke it all down, much easier for me. Yes, please do a video on healthier snacks. I would like to see all the options you will search out for us. If possible could you do low-carb ideas in snacks too, thanks! Have a nice weekend!
Boy lots of good and 😋...truly very welcomed information...would definitely like to see some snacks and breads as well...thanks for sharing and have a enjoyable. great, relaxing and safe weekend!!!
Thank you so much for doing this video. I already use avocado oil and olive oil. I didn’t even think of using Coconut oil. I would love to see healthy snack ideas.
Excellent and informative video. I am so glad I do not buy junk oils as my oil supply mimics what you showed with the exception of ghee. I'm not really sure how to use that. Thank you for posting and sharing your knowledge with us.
Thank you for the information 🥰 I would like to know how to level up our products to avoid this oils. Please, could you do a video o a serie of videos about this? Since I have moved to the USA from Spain, it is a nightmare sometimes to figure it out how to improve the products we consume without increasing considerably our badget. Thank you again for your channel and all of your videos. You're amazing!
Thank you so much for this video , I feel good I’m using all of the above already , except for one kind of oil I was using I did not know it was not as healthy as I thought. Anyways I’m getting rid of it . I would also like a video on healthy alternatives for snacks.
Hi Dani, this is very good information, I have stopped using sunflower oil and switched to rice bran oil, peanut oil and sesame oil. I wanted to get your inputs on these oil, are these oils also bad?
Thank you for this video, very educational! There is one type of oil that I use a lot but I miss in this video. What about peanut oil? Thanks in advance.
I love this video... I would love any videos helping to find the cleanest swaps in the kitchen.... one oil that I can't seem to find a lot of good/bad information is grapeseed oil... your thoughts?
Such a Wonderful tutorial!! I learned a lot!! Thanks!! I use EVOO almost every day..,I roast veggies in oven often! Did you say not to use olive oil for roasting? Usually I roast veggies then put broiler on for a few seconds to brown them a bit. Is this wrong? If so what oil should I be using? Thanks
Recently heard about good vs. bad oils from Dr. Mercola. Thank you for the same information in a much easier-to-remember visual format. I shop differently now; always looking at ingredients. If at all possible, not purchasing products with seed oils. Challenge comes when eating out. Never know what kind of oil is used by restaurants.
I disagree with one thing. You generalized “palm oil” but there is actually a difference between palm fruit oil and palm kernel oil. The orange colored palm oil eaten in most of west Africa is on the same level as coconut oil et al I believe
And also extra virgin oil is not for actual cooking because the smoke point is not high. Reasons why is used for dressing. However classic olive oils are best choice for cooking. Please check these facts. 😊
Thank you Dani for this informative video. I do use olive oil, but it is quite expensive and has a high carbon foot print due to the water required to produce avocados. For years I have been searching for a neutral tasting high smoke point oil that is healthy and affordable. Please provide an alternative to avocado oil.
Thank you for this awesome video. I needed this one big time. One question I have is about high heat. I have no idea about the temperatures when I'm cooking on the stove. One of my go-to meals, a variety of vegetables sautéed or stir fried and then eaten over brown rice. I use extra virgin olive oil. Should I be using avocado oil instead? Thanks again!
Thank you for making this. However I literally just heard the complete opposite from my cardiologist they said coconut oil is horrible for cholesterol ( in general he said to limit coconut fats in general), olive oil was the best for cholesterol levels... so many different opinions it's so confusing 😔
I can see why he said that, I believe coconut oil is great for high heat cooking as a replacement to canola oil just to crisp food not to consume in abundance though
@@GabijaS18 I have done lots of research including seeing specialists and the one main thing that is consistent is coconut fats is not all its cracked up to be. I agree with the doctor. And I think the opinion of a doctor should be held higher. Dani is partial to coconut oil; you can see this if you've watched her cooking videos. I get it! It can be crazy-making... but coconut oil is NOT horrible for cholesterol (processed flours, sugars and low-quality oils are the culprits). can we do asian cooking on extra virgin olive oil and extra virgin coconut oil?
Good video! But what about grapeseed oil? I use it for it's high heat as well as nutritional value. Is it a bad oil to use?
Thank you so much for this video! I was wondering about grape seed oil and sesame seed oil, and if those are good oils to use?
