Thank you so much for being so kind to the slow worm. So many people see slow worms, garter snakes, and other reptiles, and treat them as pests or worse. When you said that you had changed your plans slightly for the little hillside because you realized it was a good habitat for reptiles, it really warmed my heart. People who love reptiles really struggle to get others to understand that these animals are -animals-, not monsters, so your innate kindness and understanding of them brings me a lot of joy.

We do eggs a similar way, but the water goes in / lid goes on, a little earlier. Using a glass lid (if you have one) is also really helpful , so you can get them out the second they are done.
Side note: if you turn down the burner a bit, some baby spinach is a good replacement for the water. The spinach wilts and drops it’s water at the right moment for the eggs to steam. The result is eggs somewhere between fried/poached and wilted spinach in the same pan. If you time the toast right, it’s an easy breakfast that’s hands off and takes a couple of minutes.

Sometimes we who have mental challenges feel different and apart from the communities of "normals", and most people around us don't get it, and resent our seemingly willful shortcomings. I almost hate to say this, life is hard enough without mental challenges and I wouldn't wish them on anyone, but I find it reassuring to be reminded from time to time that we aren't the only ones going through life like this, so I really appreciated your reading out the comments and I'm checking out those links. Sorry for making multiple comments, I'm just really excited about your garden!! I have honey berry or haskap as we call them here. Yes you need at least 2 varieties to pollinate. As well you should research their pollination groups because if they don't flower at the same time, they won't be able to pollinate each other. Mine just might start to get fruit this year if I'm lucky. They're very hardy and cold tolerant plants.
I don't think it's a myth about the roots, in my experience I've planted some plants without spreading the roots out and they kind of stay in a ball for longer. I think they do recover but it takes longer. Also be careful about putting too much compost in the hole or you can burn the roots.
I've heard wool and hair is rich in nitrogen, if you have a lot of dog hair you could use it as mulch on top.

My way of runny eggs is to fry sunny side up then when the whites are translucent but still runny, flip the egg , cook on medium for 5 seconds then turn off the heat and cook on residual heat for another period. this cooks the whites through and seals the yolk, then I have that on toast with avocado and plenty of salt pepper and mayo (could be any seasoning).
then eat around the yolk and the final bite take the whole yolk and pop it in your mouth, getting the runny goodness in one big hit. its a bit like drugs. maybe i’m an addict. cooking the egg in butter is delicious, lately i do a mix half oil half butter. with the right seasoning, it’s food crack

My English grandpa's Blinded Eggs are made by steaming with vinegar not water, just a good splash and cover .My own twist is herbed vinegar, this is particularly good using bacon grease, the vinegar cuts the greasyness and you get the bacon flavor.I don't like artichokes enough to mess with them.Ever tried Oyster Plant?it adds a something, something when mixed in with other roots.Cherry tomatoes are my favorite to grow.I never could grow celeriac, but I love it.For fiddly seeds I plant several,or as close to that as possible,in each of those cells and use clear vegetable bags from the grocery store(not sure if Britain has those)tented up with some sticks.Have you tried"Armenian Cucumber",actually a non-sweet melon, instead of regular cukes?I can't digest cukes but those are fine with my tummy.American Black-eyed peas and yard long beans are both cowpeas. Those look alot like Black-eyed peas."French"and"Italian" beans are green beans. At least over here.Blackeyes are viney bushes and yard longs ramble if I remember. If the yard longs are happy they may eat your whole garden.

A classic 'Egg banjo' there, Mike. (The 'banjo' refers to the action of your free hand if any egg escapes on to your shirt, and you frantically try to wipe it off; it looks like you're strumming a banjo).
Nothing better than a fried egg sandwich - comfort food at it's best. Never tried the water trick, though, it's a simple, but good idea. Thank you.
Interesting to see you planting Globe Artichokes - it's fascinating that something which is basically a thistle, can grow so huge. I know someone who has them in their allotment. The word 'Triffid' springs to mind when you see them. Have you ever tried Cardoons? Another cultivated thistle, but the stems are eaten, instead of the immature flower heads. I've heard it's delicious. Salsify, is another little known (nowadays in the UK) vegetable. I've eaten it once, and would eat it pretty much every day if I could. Would that grow where you are? I know that parts of Dorset do have distinctly warmer micro-climates - your chillies and tomatoes should crop very well.

@AtomicShrimp also, if you want to train those crows, a good method is to go out in early morning. That's when they'll likely be foraging on the ground. They like peanuts and, if you're patient enough, you might be able to earn their trust to the point they'll eat them out of your hands. I'm sure you said that you wanted to train them in jest, but it is possible.

I'd love to befriend the rooks, but I think with a small, fast dog in the garden, it might be doing them a disservice

Of all the channels I regularly watch. This is the only one that I deliberately allow the adverts play to the end in a (perhaps misplaced) hope that it'll increase any payments received. Thank you Mr Shrimp.

Sitting in the greenhouse when it rains must be pretty soothing. With some candles, a comfy garden chair, blanket, a tea and a good book.
(I love being outside in the rain - and when I am in a garden in summer, I'll stay outside If starts to rain, to sit under an umbrella and enjoy the sound and the petrichor. 🤗

Thank you mike for the tips on making the perfect fried egg. I have just tried it now and not only is it perfectly cooked and soft in the middle, but the water seems to make the white much more fluffy and light!

Watching you in the garden brings me back to my childhood. My parents had a large garden and during the summer time, I would help pick peas and peppers. 🥰 thank you for sharing your plant journey with us!

Thanks for the extended garden look :) I will admit, I'm a little jealous of the space you have; I share a garden with three other houses, and only just got up the courage to put in a raised bed this year after we gave up our allotment space due to it being too big for us. Rather than focus on how much nicer your space is, I'm taking inspiration from your can-do attitude and using it to give me a kick up the butt to make the most of what we've got here.
Pleased to report our beans (starting indoors due to rodents in the area) are thriving this year, and the potatoes have *finally* started to show signs of plant growth; For the last two years our potatoes have struggled heavily under the hot Summers. This year I'm going to combat it with tarps pulled over for shade in the hottest parts of the day, leaving it open in the morning/evening for daily sunlight.

Hi Shrimp! You said in this video that you enjoy reading comments about people finding your videos to be really calming. I just wanted to say that though I do indeed feel that, with some videos of yours in particular, ALL of them - when they pop up in my subscriptions feed, showing me that you've uploaded a new one - make me do one of those excited "YUSS!!" inner-monologues! They make me genuinely happy; thank you for all of your work and generosity!

It was lovely to watch you garden today. 😊 Although we've started our plants inside (with a grow light), it's still snowing and cold in MN. We have hopes for planting outside in May. You've inspired us to try potatoes in our planters this year. 🥔

I wholeheartedly second the Florian Gadsby recommendation. His commentary is already very soothing, and then he still makes ASMR versions (that is to say, text-based commentary instead of audio commentary) of every video.

Talking about calming videos …. Try Martijn Doolaard. He’s a Dutch guy who bought a plot of land in the alps in Piedmont in Italy. Every week he publishes a week’s work, restauring the stone buildings. This is so zen and so interesting, because he makes his own tools to do the job. (E.g. a self built crane) .

cornelius mas fruit is a bit sour on its own, but it makes the most delicious jam I ever tasted. In my entire live. Ever. The stones are fumbly to get out, but you can cook the jam first and put the hot liquid jam through a fine sieve to hold the stones back, saves much work. Enjoy your fruit! it is very healthy, especiaally for persons recovering from an illness..

Ace video as usual! I love the random stuff videos; a bit of everything mixed in, like an Atomic Shrimp omnibus. I would love to see you apply the cable snips (or some sand paper) to the edges on the turntable so the platter rests on the bearings before it's parted out. Or maybe some mechano could finish what the manufacturer started.

What you need to open those cheap plastic things is a "spudger", the flat-headed prying tool made famous by Big Clive over on his channel (equally entertaining random content, from food experiments to electrical circuit diagrams, but with a slight edge of danger, beards and drunkenness)

I've never actually cooked my eggs like that but I'll have to try. One way that I like doing it is cooking it on a lower temp and more fat. I then spoon the warm fat on top of the white. You get a more bubbly and crispy white but a runny yolk. It's delicious.

actually you don't need the water at all, just half way put on the lid.
and maybe some dried or fresh oregano, don't remove the lid to soon.
