  • How to apply for a PhD in Italy?
    This question needs professional answers from someone who has experienced every bit of the process themselves. I'm sure you are familiar with my channel as a PhD student in Italy. I am Sam, and last year, I was able to win a scholarship for my PhD program in Italy.
    The first thing that you have to pay attention to is that studying a PhD in Italy and the application process is very different from other European countries and also very different from a PhD program in the USA or Canada. If you want to get into a PhD in the USA or Canada, you first have to find the professor you want to work with (your future supervisor) from each university website and then email them accordingly. This can be very tedious since they receive thousands of emails every day.
    Fortunately, for applying for a PhD in Italy, there is no need to contact the professor, and the only need you have to do is to apply to the university.
    The first step to applying is to remember that the "call" for application for each university is different; some of them open as early as February, while others open in Summer. So, you actually have a long period to apply and a great chance to prepare your documents in case you are missing a thing or two.
    Then you have to go to the PhD program page on the university website and download the file of the Call. This file is everything!
    Read it carefully; it tells you to step by step all the things you need to do in case you want to apply.
    **IMPORTANT NOTE**
    Many universities like Milano University (Politecnico di Milano) have their own template for almost all the files you have to upload; hence it is mandatory to upload them in the required format. Each year many applicants are rejected based on the fact that they are too carefree when they are applying and don't read the call carefully.
    Then you go to the university's websites and create an online profile in order to be able to upload your files. You pay a small fee for submitting the application, and then you wait for the results to be published.
    This is the very basic procedure for PhD application. Extra information about the interview and what to do next can be found in the video; be sure to watch it.
    By sharing this video you will be helping me to create better content, and also you will be helping many students out there who need advice on their PhD journey.

    • @SamanMovahed
      @SamanMovahed  Před rokem +4

      In Italy, it is not necessary to do so. But, if you are talking about other countries I have to do a separate video. I will mention the steps for you:
      1. Go to the professor's personal page (some have their own university page) some are on Linkedin, some on google scholar, etc.
      2. Pay attention to his "areas of interest" during the past 3 years (maybe more).
      3. Try to find the articles that are somehow connected or COULD be connected to your research proposal.
      4. Try to write two short paragraphs, showing you have read his articles and HOW your expertise can create an opportunity to work together.
      Other parts of the email are more general which I will make a video about.
      I'm busy these days with revising my paper/ Sorry and good luck :)

    The explanation is good and the information is important. Can you explain to me the registration first, given that I have a master’s degree in management and I would like to complete my PhD studies. What are the requirements for that You could choose more specialization from the program in the Ph.D. study

    • @SamanMovahed
      @SamanMovahed  Před rokem

      Hi, the registration is very straightforward, it is completely online, and is done via each universities' portal. You create a profile and you start the process. The important thing is that you check each university to see if they have you major, in your case, "management: and then you start by waiting for the call to be published for you major, the call is simply the time and the requirements that you need for your major. Then based on that you start the process and apply.

I will send my research for publication for review after June can you guide me the best time to apply for PhD in Italy due to my age I am afraid they will allow me to continue my education second thing my family, will they accompany me when selected for my PhD. my C.G.P.A is near to 3.75 right now but final semester need to add which I will get in September

    • @SamanMovahed
      @SamanMovahed  Před 7 měsíci

      Hi, the application time for each university in Italy is different. So, if you want to start in September you should be applying now. You have to check university websites which ones are open for your major. Then apply for each one individually from their portal (website) It is necessary to have a very good research proposal since your GPA is not very high. Is your MS in English?
      As for the family, in Italy the money they give you is paid monthly and if you get the scholarship this amount is nearly 1200 Euros, considering that the rent is high in most cities (around 500Euros) just for a single room you have to be very careful if you want your family living with you.

    • @SamanMovahed
      @SamanMovahed  Před rokem

      Hi, to answer your first question you usually need a master’s degree certificate from a prominent university in your country to be able to apply for the PhD program. The answer to your second question depends on the university you are going to apply for, some universities mention a limit for the GPA with which you can apply and you have to check this limit from the university website. But generally the higher the GPA the better your chances are for getting accepted.

    If there are no specific mentions about the requirement of reference letters, is it still necessary to attach them?

    • @SamanMovahed
      @SamanMovahed  Před rokem

      Some universities don't require "recommendation letters" and they don't mention it in the file of the call. In this case it is not necessary to upload them and usually there won't be a place for uploading them on the online portal. If they say that it is optional, I recommend uploading them as they can increase your score in the evaluation.

    • @SamanMovahed
      @SamanMovahed  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Ok first let me say that getting admission is different from getting the scholarship. You may get eligible and get the admission but not get the scholarship. In this case you could use the regional scholarship provided by Italy. If course the amount is much less (6000 Euros) yearly.
      Now to answer your question remember that a good research proposal, and a good CV are more important than publications. Because publications have a maximum score from the total 70 of the first part. So, even if you don't have any publications there is still a chance that you can win the scholarship.
