Fam I learned that a while back... I used to try and drop everything except the kitchen sink in my beats LOL...and engineer once told me to sit and down and listen to him. I did and he played the beat I was working on but he had muted half the shit I had in there and it sounded WAY better. Its about just going with your gut and vibing (at least in my case) because when I start to say " i wanna add this and add that ...just because... then it can get cluttered and uninspired.

I be so worried about making sure it doesn't sound repetitive in this instance, finding the right drums for this sound/sample, or if I want to loop this sound or chop it, etc. Just vibe out and keep it simple. When it's too cluttered there is no room for the artist. I saw this video where this guy basically had 2 tracks for his beat(drum track and the melody) and it was dope! Thanks for the inspiration!
