My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa and hoping to make the city of light my home base - at least for the foreseeable future. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlog daily (when I'm not on a between-season break), and love pizza a little too much.

I'm Turkish and those pita bread thingies are called "gözleme" in Turkey. The Ö sound is the same as "e" in French. It's basically pita bread with potato, a variety of cheese and minced beef options. It's delicious and easy enough that you can find people making it anywhere. Even in France :)

I have always been and am still impressed by your dedication Jay. I was in Paris two weeks ago and before my trip i was looking for things to do, searching and all and then i found your vlog i start watching to know Paris in adifferent way, now that i return to Lisbon seeing your vlogs its like im there. Thats the beauty of it. about this video You have a soul of a writer, if basically you start a real date your inspiration and your Vlogs don’t last long, like a writer that looses is track being a Vlogger with your consistency is the same thing ....hard work. Jay, a person will come along at some point when you least expect. This person will be somebody that may or may not know a bit about you from one of your mediums.
If this person knows of you then i would venture to say that she would or should love you for you and all of what you do, and with that comes support and genuine unconditional love. If she doesn't know you then that is where the fun starts and you get to be you and that alone will win their heart over.
You have a lot going on but simply prioritize but never forget who you are and where you want to go and be.

Agree. I think the person you should date is someone you already, and whose interests are aligned with your's. She is someone who will understand your crazy life because her's can be just as crazy. Cheryl, you should date Cheryl. Secretly though, but tell me so I can secretly be happy for you guys because you'll make the cutest international couple of 2018. I'd even nominate you for it. Watch some of your videos that have her in them, and watch the way she looks at you and how the two of you interact. It's there, you two might just be afraid to act on it.

Your videos are getting better and better each time! I worry about you with the exhaustion - I'm sure its one of those things because at this point I'm basically chronically sleep deprived myself (1-2 hours MAX a night...sigh.. I would love hours of sleep... maybe next year lol) so I worry about others in that state!

it's very difficult to date in France because the dating process is not the same. Ex: once you kiss someone they are kinda potentially your girlfriend unless all the sign are there for a one night stand which happens but a lot less than you think although Tinder is primarily used for this purpose , girls are on the look out for a proper relationship so it brings a lot of pressure right from the beginning..I have younger colleagues who are looking for someone and their criteria are up the roof they want someone with a proper career and of course money...also pay attention to their line of work...I work with social workers and usually (apart from the younger group I was talking about before) they arelooking at the human side of the person before anything else..they are ok with someone as long as they make a living...

You need to be proactive in dating sometimes. ifs like a job or anything else in life. What you put into it you will get out of it. At least he recognizes what he’s sacrificing. To each their own
On the bike tour to Versailles, do they give you time to shop at the market, then have a picnic there?
Yep - depending on the guide you get 30-45 min to shop for your lunch, and then you eat it on the canal

Wow, and I thought dating in America was nonexistent for me..lol..I was hoping to come back to Paris to give love a shot there, it would probably be just as nonexistent. I get questioned ALL the time why I am not dating, people find it hard to believe I have not met anyone I am genuinely interested in, or maybe it's just a timing issue. Another great vlog Jay! No sir, I just missed some here and there, so I go back through videos, and watch the one's I have not seen, and rewatch some older stuff😉 I have learned some much from your vlogs. When I went to Paris it was a whirlwind only (6 days there), next year when I visit again, I will take my time, and have lunch in the park, and sit and drink coffee in a cafe. Oh by the way I love that you take yourself on dates! I can go to the movies where it's dark by myself, but too self-conscious to do anything alone in the light..lol😂😂I need to work on that. Self+ Care😉
So, Jay, about the dating thing, I think you'll find some draw to you if people think you're single, versus if you're dating/unavailable. Think of George Clooney for all those years! Also, I wanted to tell you that in this video you were talking in your apartment about your meeting on Thursday and I thought, "oh, it's going to be a snap," (not a breeze, but a snap) and I just barely started to think "gee that was an odd thought," and you snapped your fingers! I take that as a really good sign that it will be a snap!! And that at some level of your being you KNOW this to be so. Done deal! Ooooo, keep saying that: "Done deal!" You are about to cross the timepoint between not knowing and KNOWING. But try knowing it is a done deal before you get to your meeting on Thursday. In your virtual cheering section!

Where is the stress and flustration over dating coming from? Is it possible that it's an external thing? "Everyone keeps asking me about it... should I be worried? Should I do something about it?" If that's the case, F**K it. Dude... you're following your bliss, living an adventure that boggles the minds of MOST of us you watch your vlog. I don't think you need a "love life"... I think you need to SLEEP! Your body is responding more vehemently to THAT idea, so indulge it.

Sleep is definitely more along the lines of what I need in the immediate future, ha. But no - there's an internal desire as well. I'm flustered more because I'm not sure how best to communicate on the subject, not because I don't necessarily want to.
