Nicodemus Normalsbane Music in general takes what came before and recycles it, adds to it, and transforms. There's nothing wrong with this, especially if it progresses the original. To me, it's like having a song I enjoy having a sequel made. That being said, having the credits for the original sample included on track lists would be nice, but that's ok, sometimes I enjoy the search.
Lilac Samurai you should totally check out tatsuro Yamashita he's one of my favorite singers! actually quite a bit of his work is used in vaporwave tracks! I like listening to the original songs he made but i think its cool hearing it another version too!! :D
In all honesty, macross only did minor changes to make the original songs sounds loads better. Makes you wonder why some of the originals weren't famous in the first place.

Instead of 70s funk its 80s synth funk and pop. Pretty much what the latin rascals, Ben Liebrand, mantronix and omar santana were doing 30 yrs ago with early sampling tech and tape. Only diff being the pitch. I like some of it though cos even at a diff pitch good music is good music.
