One of my favourite Brad Pitt roles is in a Coen Brothers movie called Burn After Reading. He plays a gym employee who’s trying to blackmail a CIA analyst, oblivious to the fact what he has on the guy is nothing.

Yeah, the way he dies in that, in the most stupid way possible, with a big idiotic grin on his face, oblivious to the danger he's in, is both horrific and hilarious at the same time. That balance of comedy and very real violence and danger is something very few people get right. But the Coen Brothers manage it so well.

I cant believe they missed the funniest part in Goodfellas: Ray Liotta is arriving home late , morning the next day, and Karen and his mother in law are waiting for him. As soon as they open the door, his mother in law screams at him: “Where have you been!? A married man doesnt stay up and…” , Henry/ Ray Liotta, doesnt say a word. Hes wasted and doesnt deal with that kind of shit. He just turns around and goes back to the car where Tommy is making fun of the whole situation, he jumps in: “ Shes right Henry! Normal people dont do this..What the fuck kinda people are them” 😂😂😂😂😂Its gold baby!

I just randomly had this line in my head the other day. I don't even remember how many times I've seen this movie at this point. lol. this inconvenience for these psychos who just randomly killed a guy over nothing. lol. As crazy as it is the movie actually went kind of light on the main characters cause apparently they were even worse in real life. Especially Tommy but also Jimmy and Paulie. All despicable characters. Brutal murderers. But for narrative purposes I understand the reasoning and it came out brilliant. Henry was of course no saint but from interviews and stuff I've seen with him he seems kinda traumatized by the whole thing honestly but that could also be him playing the part or something. I feel like he was really more of an associate really at the end of the day. He probably overhyped his involvement to get a book deal, a lot of which was used in the movie. But man. One of the best movies every made. Just brilliant on every level.

Brad Pitt is a great actor. I find the same thing is true of Ryan Gosling, it can be easy to see him as a typical Hollywood heart throb “hot guy”, but he has insane acting range and great skill. He is great in romance like The Notebook and La La Land, he is absolutely hilarious as a comedic actor (The Nice Guys, The Big Short), and can pull off dark dramatic roles (Drive, Blade Runner, Place Beyond the Pines, Blue Valentine). He’s even done some really weird indie movies like Lars and the Real Girl. Gosling is one of the greatest actors today, no doubt.

Ryan Gosling isn’t even close to on par with Pitt’s range as an actor. He’s obviously talented and and had some pretty good roles. He’s funny, charismatic but plays a lot of the same character. Most of dramatic roles like drive, a place beyond the pines, only god forgives he barely even speaks at all or shows any emotion. Pitt Is on another role with how diverse the characters he plays are.

3:07 what I love about this scene is how professional it is. The Wolf is a dude who makes things happen and gets shit done, he makes problems go away without any wasted movement and this is his character all the way down to how how he appreciates a good cup of coffee.
A simple nod and a smile is all it takes, he shows appreciation and immediately gets back to work because anything more is just unnecessary and a waste of everyone's time. Compare this to Samuel Blackman's character, who literally dumps a dead body in Tarantino's lap and plays the nice guy while not coming up with a single possible solution to "the dead n**ger in the garage."

@@joepermenter7228 That is a very valid point, yes. I guess I feel the transformation more poignantly when comparing Help to Revolver but it is true that Rubber Soul introduced a great deal of new sounds and themes for them.

Carbone is great man. After they kills Stacks and Tommy tells him 'make that coffee to go' and he starts to walk with kettle and shit... so fucking funny. Same with car man... waiting for it warm up while Morry is sat dead in the front seat.

He’s anything but a character actor in Snatch, 7 Years in Tibet, Inglorious Bastards, Benjamin Button, and Kalifornia. Pitt’s resume is no less impressive than DeNiro and Nicholson. Same’s true of DiCaprio. Pitt’s just seen as a sex symbol so he never gets the credit he’s due. DeNiro and Nicholson are honestly just themselves with varying emotions in their films. Nothing about them is actually superb. If you want to be honest, Christian Bale is a far more impressive actor than both of them.

I know we dont want sequels, theyre always watered down cash grabs. And goodfellas is a stand alone master piece. But boy dont we all wish we could watch more of henry hill, tommy and jimmy In more life situations? Theyre almost like the big brothers we all wanted.
