Hell Bent wasn't as good as Ninth House imo either. Ninth House lives rent free in my head. She did make Alex canonically bi with like one throwaway line about Alex and Hellie in bed together. I lived for all the longing she felt for Hellie stretched over the books. I like Darlington as a character but he and Alex don't seem to have much chemistry and Dawes is just too awkward and mousy of a character for me to appreciate. While I did still really enjoy Hell Bent, I can def concede your points!
girl PREACH. kate alice marshall is one of my all-time favorite authors for her YA novels, and she's testing where she wants to go with adult thrillers and it's....not working yet. what lies in the woods and no one can know both disappointed so heavily, they're some of my lowest rated of their years. if you're ever feeling into a supernatural thriller, do give her YA a try (spooks, horror, lesbians)!! highly recommend these fleeting shadows especially, and the narrow is a close second for my fave. you're iconic, keep being you
