    " Would you like a lift Marianne ? "
    He wouldn't let me pay which earned me lots of scowls. One day I asked him why he called me Marianne and he said it was because I looked like Marianne Faithfull . This was early 80's before the internet so it was years before I found out who she was ..and considered it a compliment. Love her apartment and " stuff. "

    • @colinpsykes
      @colinpsykes Před 2 lety +1

      @Djinn Djinnie Mick Jagger is cut from another cloth altogether. He was a London School of Economics drop-out, after all. He wanted a beautiful country manse and a fancy car and friends with double- and triple-barrel names, access into higher places, as much as he wanted to rock. He is ultimately too ambitious, self-interested, disciplined, lusty for life, and hungry for success, probably seduced by power. He is a father, and a band leader, and can direct crews of people and guide massive enterprises, if with some more canny help. He is as much a corporate man or professional athlete as he is an artist. He had a drug problem, certainly. And even when he wasn’t a desperate addict, he was very reckless and indulgent. But by almost all accounts he was heading to bed early and having his water with lemon by the late seventies. For him, that was all like an awesome adolescent phase which gave him a lifetime of material and a bit of insight. Now people like Marianne, Keith Richards, and Anita Pallenberg, though they happened to have been lucky, and Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Nico... they don’t have the instinct of self preservation. They took it to the brink of destruction and, in most cases, lost. Recreational users like Mick was are pathologically different. Just an opinion. (I think Paul McCartney could be similarly situated in his dynamic with John Lennon. They are ultimately more traditional than the more decadent artists and bohemians in their groups/social circles.)

    😇 I have been a fan of Marianne Faithful since her first song. I still have her first two albums and then purchased them on CDs. I kept a huge scrapbook of her. When I was a teenager I wore my hair like her, tried to find dresses that were just like hers and the shoes. I’ve read her book and yes I am faithful forever to Marianne Faithful. Her father had a very interesting background too. I still remember the words to As Tears Go By and This Little Bird. Her book is very informative. I hear they’re going to make a movie about her life. The girl who portrayed Freddie Mercury‘s girlfriend in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody is up for consideration for playing the role of Marianne Faithful. As long as Marianne has a huge say in the production of the movie I will see it. I wish I could meet you.

    I met Marianne when she and Mick Jagger visited Frank Zappa's log cabin in Laurel Canyon, Hollywood. They sat in the kitchen with Frank and his wife Gail. Mick and Marianne were like a double act - he spoke, she spoke, he spoke, she spoke. By contract, Gail never spoke when Frank entertained. She always sat mute, allowing Frank to hold centre stage. Such a contrast.

  • @rebekahlegionsundaygirljou5543

    If only People realised that the lovely Marianne wrote Sister Morphine not Mick or Keith. I Love this Woman as much as if I grew up with Her. Her music has got Me through some horrific & crazy times & Her books have made Me feel I am not alone in being the way I am. The literary/lyrical quotes She selected for Her books have also been food for My soul. To hear Her say She's quite lonely & see Her looking slightly frail, I just want to hug Her. I want to drop by with flowers & a bottle of something delicious. A Lioness like Marianne should not be alone if it isn't out of choice. I feel protective seeing Her seem so delicate. Bless Her heart.

    So odd to see that stunningly gorgeous & voluptuous teenager from the hippest coolest and most iconic ever Times turned into this lonely, shapeless, dotty, cane-toting old person. With her whiskey voice, cigarette in hand, osteoperotic neck ( complete with pearls) in her completely classic aging artist's pricey Paris flat she is wholly from another era. Marianne, you are, at the same time, utterly unique & your smile still that of an angel.

    I loved her in Irina Palm. A very odd but very good movie. All about what a grandma would do if her little grandson was dying of cancer and neither she nor the little boy's parents had enough money to get him the treatment he needed. So the grandma tries and tries to get an honest job, but fail and she takes a very different kind of job ( no spoiler here) and makes plenty of money. Until I saw this movie I never even knew what this was. This movie is one of a kind and if you are not a prude you should treat yourself to it, even though its content is off color, it has a message of love, and what you will do to save someone you love. I think it was made give or take 15 years ago. It also has very subtle but very humorous parts, like the chronic elbow problem she gets from this job and how she decorated her station at work. She did a very good job of acting in my opinion. 🌻❤️
