Deep Silicon technology could realize the full potential of photon counting CT
For nearly 50 years, CT has proven to be a vital imaging tool used by clinicians for the diagnosis of disease, trauma, or abnormality and for planning, guiding, and monitoring therapy. CT is able to detect cancers at early, more treatable stages and effectively evaluate many heart conditions.
Photon counting CT has the promise to further improve the capabilities of traditional CT, including the visualization of minute details of organ structures, improved tissue characterization, more accurate material density measurement (or quantification) and lower radiation dose.
Altogether, photon counting technology has the potential to be a substantial step forward for CT imaging that will benefit millions of patients worldwide.
