Today I want to test if my mining vehicle would perform better and faster if I swap out the gas engine and 4 wheel steering with an electric engine and tank steering. Does the electric engine allow for better control and maneuverability? Or is the gas engine just as good?

I’m not usually one to listen to metal / progressive metal but Scrapman’s (Catarinths) music was So. Damn. Good! Id like to not think that I’m biased just because it’s Scrapman but it was genuinely really well made.

@@wisewizard9552 you can quite easily just write a code and find an fft spectrum code online, just link it to computer sound, take the values of the fft, and wrap it around the logo and pulse the colors :D

He still would need to see new start game content, like intro cutscene. Tho sm could really use "new game +" feature when you can pack up 1 large chest of stuff and 1 free blueprint for yourself (since it's known that blueprints in survival will have a complexity limit) for yourself in a new world

Before the 4 story you should make a detachable mini tank to drive in the there and keep you safe. Seems fitting for the nomad vehicle series.

This video is amazing! I didn't know that electric engines has so many advantages when mining! Stopping and not rolling backwards has to be one of the biggest ones due to the drills having to be in constant contact with the rock a certain amount of ticks to deal damage! Usually the rocks just kinda stay there as you slide down the mountain so you have to use up gas just keeping yourself in place. Also THANK YOU for teaching me how to do tank steering! I was curious about it but didn't know how it worked!
to get batteries you could treat glowbugs like wocs and just collect cardboard like corn

MM Idea.. Do a double decker derby car, its double decker races are when you stack 2 cars on top of eachother. then you make it so the car on the top controls the steering & the botom car controls the throtle, there is no comunication between the two drivers.

but if you fill it with tier 3 metal and component kits you ruin the fun of crafting and looking for materials

Your music is great. As suggested by you, I've shared to my metal head friends, and have actually started writing to one of them for a "cover". Big fan... along the topic of this video: still say, swap the arm the awnings are mounted to for a small pipe bar to reduce collisions. Tank steering is def the way for a miner.. a lot of people don't want this series to end but, end game should include finding the 2nd crashed ship, building a flyer, and "launching from this planet" from there... end scene being a flyer flying over the warehouse you finished.... love the content, keep it up..
use electric so when the generator drops you can charge it with a piston engine.
Though it MIGHT require quite a hefty charge, so it is a bit of a gamble if it would be enough for constant propulsion of a limited battery type of deal...

I like the improvements to the editing, I noticed the little time stamp to skip the mining montage and it was really cleanly placed. Just little things like that along with good music really put the polish on a good video👍👍👍
I've almost never seen scrapman do tank steering except the roomba
He uses it a lot in multiplayer mondays.

Omg, suspension glitch with a gas engine basically fells like a real tank and it's incredibly good for mining. it only requires a single gas engine/electric motor and a single extra lvl 5 suspension. Also reduces lag and a lot easier to control, i can't find one reason to use that method other than maybe realism...
because its a lot funnier when its not just glitch land
Limits promote creativity, my roommate's boy doesn't accept limits on any of his games, and he's bored with Minecraft because there is nothing to do, because he did everything he heard of in creative and still doesn't know how to play.

just so you know there's a way to make a more efficient tank steering with i think only one more logic gate allowing you to go forward and left at the same time (so you have these cotnrols : forward both tracks ; left forward; right forward; left forward and right backward; right forward and left backward) and it only trigers the engines necessary so you don't burn any exess battery (but the backwards movment need an entire logic gate system too so screw the backward just do a 180)
Um tank steering is supposed to be used to turn in place so forwards and left is pointless?
@@isaiahTMP well actual tanks drive like that they don't stop to turn thy just have the inside track going slower and you can't do that unless you use a more complicated logic setup than scrapman has

Hi scrapman ! Small tip for engines :
The gas engine output a fixed amount of raw power for each bearing, so the fuel consumption is linear : you eat x fuel per seconds.
The electric engine output a fixed speed, so battery consumption depend on "how much drag power you need". So if you are driving a small vehicle, you don't consume a lot of batteries.
And also, soooo cool your music in Catarinth 😊
8:26 imagine if they added like a rocket thruster, like 10x10x5 circular thruster that sucks back fuel, and a large cylindrical fuel canister, and building that to leave the planet is the end goal. And, of course, having that in creative.

I would recommend putting more weight in the back of your mining vehicle to prevent it from flipping since the concrete you put in the back made it a bit back heavy.
Another way you could easily get batteries is farming tapebots at warehouses!
Fun fact: The Hank Tank name is perfect since its as good as killing like Hank J. Wimbleton

You know, I thought of an interesting idea while watching all the mining and thinking of some of your other videos.
With the new chapter coming up in an underground environment, maybe you could try doing something like a Volcanoids-esque mobile drillship as your base.
I don't know much about the games, only what I've sen in the videos, so I don't know if that'd be crazy power consumption or anything, but it might be cool.

Add a retractable glowbug feeder that dispenses cardboard.
Whenever you stop to farm along the shore, bring a glowbug or two up to the shore and setup the feeder. Then harvest glowpoop along with farm crops.
Considering the fact that the Battery Container also has a port for depositing batteries automatically, you could potentially add in a pipeline from the craft bot to the rear of the Hank Tank so that instead of having to continuously adding and deleting a block, you can just . . . pop the miner on.

Another thing to consider is in chapter 2, you'd have the advantage of making a generator. Of course, this series will probably end by then by the time chapter 2 comes out.

I think Scrapman should add a raising turret so he could theoretically shoot anywhere around his vehicle and drive away in an emergency.
And maybe a piston on the back of the mining vehicle that extends when a sensor on the front gets too far away from the ground to prevent flipping?

FWIW, for the speeds that miners go, Level 5 Controllers make a decent form of propulsion. They're fuel-efficient but herky-jerky; Electric are unquestionably more pleasant to drive. On a small cart like ScrapMan's, efficiency isn't a big deal, but if you have a rig with onboard refineries, it matters much more.
But what impresses me about the smaller mining vehicle (as opposed to any of the behemoths that we've all seen) is that when the drill on this car makes contact with a rock, it definitely breaks. I've got a big mining rig (think on the scale of kAn's Combine) and that just doesn't happen reliably. You can be pushing a block with the drills and it still doesn't break. Clearly there's some kinda bug in scrap mechanic at work... But what trips it? Oftentimes I'll be in a case where the rocks simply will not break, and I put my rig on a lift, take it off, and boom, fixed it.
I have theorized that it's to do with degraded framerates caused by piled up rocks, but this video seems to disprove that theory. I never saw one single time when the drill was in contact with the stone and the stone didn't break within 2 seconds.
My best guess now is that it's to do with the mass of the vehicle. Could also be the number of drills, but I doubt it. Could be something that happens when a resource collector is on the vehicle...
I don't play the game, so I don't know much about how the physics work. I have an idea for a more compact mining mechanism. I'll attempt to draw it as it would look like from above.

It's basically a mouth. If attatched like your current mining vehicle, it will take up the same amount of space, but it will count as just 1 vehicle instead of a mining vehicle and a main vehicle. It will use less fuel because you wont have to position yourself perfectly. just open mechanism, flip mechanism down and start drills, back up so mechanism is around rocks, and chew the rocks to bits. You can even add googly eyes!
edit: You spent a lot of component kits on your method, so not using electric engines would be a waste...

The problem with the Onnings is that the first one would clip into the lower bar for some reason. After you accidentally broke it, the problem was solved. There was a window there so you probably shouldn’t replace it for now

For the glowbugs, I imagine you'll need to replace them each time you want to farm glow poop. Might be best to make a glowbug farm attachment to your vehicle you can lower into water on the beach, then swim and get some glowbugs. For efficiency, perhaps do this next to ruins you can loot so you have something to do while they eat.
They don't need water. You just have to feed them cardboard every few (14?) days...

Just imagine having a resource collector on the mini mining vehicle. Would make swaping out resources collectors more convenient
He tried adding it but it doesn’t goes well, getting the resource collectors and place them everywhere is way way more efficient
True but his done enough evolution vids that things need to change and i did say conviant. Hell just have an extra resourse collecter at hand🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think the reason that the resource collectors reduce mining performance is because it is probably coded to keep checking if there is rods around it every single tick and the drills also check if they are dealing "damage" to the rocks every tick and when both are checking together it drops the mining performance

I have an idea, you could turn the hank tank into a big rig. By turning most of the rv into a trailer that can be detached but you probably want to stick with the rv since you've been using it for so long that you might like it the way it is

I think you should have a driving mode and a mechanisms mode in your vehicle. The driving mode is same as now, but the mechanisms mode moves where the seat is, so you can see your entire vehicle instead of just some of the front. It's more fun if the seat itself is moved, but you can just have another seat.
You know how ur bedroom extends up? U should make ur bathroom do that too. Use pistons and awnings for walls. The real challenge? Keeping the plant;) I know how I'd do it. I'd like to see how ud do it :)

The upcoming sticky wheels should be a no-brainer when it comes to mining stone nodes, even outside of the underground biomes.
To stay alive, maybe glowbugs need to be on something that shifts with the forces of acceleration. Like a hammock, or a horizontal pad suspended with... suspension. Yes, I know, lag nightmare. Personally I'd just treat it like farming and park somewhere every few days to feed cardboard to the little squeakers. Beach day! Grab some glue clams while the bugs chow down.
Ever since your volcanoids series I've come to consider that montage music your "combat" theme.
Scrapman should try a survival flying fortress series. That would be a cool concept to have a flying base.
Make a boat for the glow bugs. Not attached to the ground so doesn't violate the premise. Also Nomads would have winter quarters and summer quarters, each with their own unique properties... like the trader, or the mechanic station.
Scrapman, the rocket launch from the water plant makes perfect sense if it is not a water treatment plant at all. What if that is a HHO plant and they convert water to fuel there!!

When do we get to see the skinny boat so you can travel the ocean? Just watched Kan and Kosmo go gold chest collecting with theirs. You can add rotors to yours and make a flying boat. Make it a twofer all while attaching it to the top of the Hank Tank and probably still lower than the top of your outhouse. =D
