I have seen about every interview BS has endured. This one was fun for her. Smart to play it like a comedy bit; she loves a good joke.
Her collection is just that. She's an OG thrifter who wasn't afraid to incorporate vintage style into her career, from clothing to dolls, to songs. Thank you, LSSC for honoring her in this way. And finally if you want to know the truth about her unique lifestory of talent, luck, grit, and directed determination, read the book and she'll tell you.
The doll collection was extraordinary!! I had no idea these kind of dolls existed and it was a joy to see! I'm thrilled she shared her collection w Stephen!!
those are valuable porcelain dolls
I used to work for an antique store in LA in the early '80s and Barbra would come in once in a while to buy something, but I never knew she had such an extensive collection!
With all the grief in the world, thank you for doing a fluff piece first thing in the week. We all need a smile right about now and you, sir, delivered. Thank You! 💖
👏👏👏👏👏👏
She didn’t mention Trump!?
Lovely lady. I smiled through the entire interview and we all need a reason to smile these days.
Thank you, Barbara Streisand, for doing this interview. ❤
I thought her speaking voice was beautiful
This was a great interview. Things are so casual between the two of them. I've never seen her so relaxed in an interview before.
SPLENDID...This singer's music has accompanied me my whole life, since age 15, through many loves and many difficult loses. I wonder if she knows how cherished she is by so many fans.
Colbert did a great job with these interview segments. He's the only one I've seen who has made Barbra laugh and be herself. She's really funny, a FUNNY GIRL.
She’s also very very mean! Brilliant, but mean!😂Poor Gayle King was just destroyed!😢
Your interview with Babs is THE BEST. She was so relaxed, and you asked such great questions. It was WONDERFUL!
It's nice to know that "celebrities" can be hoarders too... I mean collectors :)
The differences between hoarders and collectors: cleanliness, and adequate space! And cleanliness. Did I mention cleanliness? (I was in a relationship with a hoarder once)
It’s cute that she made a “mall” to display her antiques. It’s a way to make her old things feel new again. Very tasteful
The whole interview was the best! It could have gone on for the entire week and it still wouldn't have been enough! BARBRA FOREVER!
"Thank you again, Barbra Streisand! You're one of a kind!" -- perfect sign-off, Colbert.
Lovely interview Stephen. I could've watched another 5 parts (or more). Interviews are not her comfort zone but you really brought out he playful side of her, I suspect you will be her gold standard for interviewers in the future.
Stephen, you better give that piece of glassware back unless Babs told you to keep it.
Same here!!! But then again, I hope it is a gag!! LOL!!!!
I’m doing it all wrong! I display my treasures upstairs. My basement is full of crap. Fascinating collection!!!
We use to word Icon very loosely, but Barbra Streisand is a TRUE icon.
She is an icon who is rather modest considering her achievements. The Way We Were is forever etched in my mind…a strong woman does not fit into societal norms…a gorgeous man…loved it! And loved her with James Caan in Funny Lady! Yentl was ahead of its time. She’s learned firsthand you can clone a body but not a soul! Go Barbara!
Modest??
Prince of Tides is an excellent movie too
A Beautiful Voice, Her Gift to the World & A Beautiful Human Being !!
Barbra Streisand has a voice like no other! I recently watched the 1976 A Star is Born, and 1968s Funny Girl ... her voice creates so much rejoicing throughout my very being ... beyond words. She is truly a gift to us all ❤
As a person who collects, thank you for sharing yours!
Made my day Stephen Colbert. Thanks😊
You are going to give back the depression glass. Makes sense that she is a pink girl. My great aunts each had a different color,, and my "pink" aunt was the most like the beautiful Ms. Streisand, but no one really can match her, she is a gift to us all.
I remember when Barbra produced, wrote Yentl. I couldn't wait to see it. It was a glorious movie. You could feel her perfectionist fingerprints all over everything. I loved it, society did not because a woman controlled the film from inception to end. I didn't know about Mandy, shocked the hell out of me. I adore them both. He is a great actor, she a perfectionist oozing with talent and the most beautiful voice I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. We Taurus people are tough, demanding, not so much stubborn but demanding as hell. If you can tolerate us, you would be a special human being. Fabulous interview, and that house with the shops is amazing. Those animatronic antique dolls from France are to die for. Imagine the insurance on that collection. I know those yellow plates displayed. I have the smaller version of the plates. They are Japanese and very rare.
Mr Colbert has raised the bar yet again on how to interview big stars. After this, I believe Ms Streisand will not agree to be interviewed by anybody else.
This series of interviews with this remarkable woman made my day❤
I love you ms. Streisand!!! ❤❤❤
Her home is so charming!
Loved the interview great connection between them. She is a unique talented woman. Thankyou Stephan for a wonderful interview.
Colbert is the best!!
More! MORE!!! Thats all?? Watched all 5 but there's gotta be more :)
God bless her. Such a decent human being. I'm happy that's I've had the enjoyment of living in the same lifetime as her. Thank you Barbara. Thank you Steve. Thank you camera, lighting, sound , filming and editing crew. 😅
Nice comment
Barbra is the only artist ever who has received the Directors Guild of America, Academy Award, Golden Globe, National Medal of Arts, and Peabody awards, as well as France's Légion d'Honneur and the American Film Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award
Someone turn this comment up to "WOW!"
What, no Tony? No Grammy? No Emmy? Can that be?
@@ericminch Presidential medal of honor...?
The Légion d'Honneur is basically the french equvalent.
@@ericminchYes. She has 10 Grammy Awards, two Oscars, five Emmy Awards, a Tony.
In short, a Legend.
thank you so much for showing us your doll shoppe barbara streisand!! :)~ xoxox
Wonderful job with the interview. Barbra was a delight and such a good sport to play along!
What an intriguing interview! I loved it!❤❤❤✌🏻🤘🏻
Agree!
What a wonderful property. Tiny Mall! Most of the dolls r beautiful! She is wonderful!
I love that Stephen so easily puts Barbra at ease and makes her laugh; he's a genuinely sweet man. Barbra sometimes takes things so seriously (I know, we have to sometimes), and it's great that she was so lighthearted with him. As a longtime Barbra devotée, thanks for that, Stephen. I am now a confirmed fan of yours also! Great show-- :)
I've got to get the book now. I looked at it today and didn't pick it up, but now I have to!
It's not really a "mall," it's her collections and how she chooses to organize and display them. Very curatorial, and I'm sure her cleaning service is done with security attending.
the style of this interview is brilliant. barbra's given grueling interviews to mike douglas, barbara walters, and others throughout her career. this was refreshing for her, you can tell. great job, SC.
Stephen’s staff is hilarious. So many funny gags.
What a great interview!
I love Barbra Streisand. She is the most iconic, gifted and talented singer, actress, songwriter, concert and movie producer, concert and movie director, filmmaker and an author. She is a legendary and a truly DIVA.😍
Lived up to every expectation I had from Buyer & Cellar, including "ShopPE"
I’ve always wanted to see Her Mall. Love the dolls.
Barbra, you have helped me survive the challenging moments I've had throughout my life. In those moments, who needed a therapist? Lol 😆
Sarcasm cloaks truth, at times.
Thank you, much appreciation. 🌹
That was hilarious 😂 😂😂😂
Barbara Streisand was a delight and a very good sport. This was a lovely interview.
Thank-you Steve. Always funny. And Thank-you Barbara. What a wonderful build out in that lower level. I would love that.
I like this Streisand effect.
Stephen pushed the envelope and Barbra played along. Very enjoyable!
Stephan stole that until Barbara gives him that duet. :P
I love her 'Mall'.
The Interview segments were great Stephen!!!
I just love Barbra Streisand. I love her honesty. ❤
This was Fun!! I have collections accumulated from over the years. It doesn't take tons of money to display them cleverly. Her way was cute. She has worked hard, her whole life, for what she has and those that are jealous could have gone into acting or music, still can. She followed her heart, decades ago.
It was nice to see what she likes to collect.
What's Up Doc?
I want an antique mall in my basement!
Hahaha! Stealing the glass piece was hysterical.
She bought these with her hard earned money. ❤
Lovely Lady and so is our favorite (at least mine) Late-night host, Monsieur Colbert Stephen!
Honneur et patrie, madame Chevalier Barbra Streisand, celle du monde et à ceux qui œuvrent pour la salvation de la race humaine ! Our world is, indeed, in need of these kind of contents. Cheers from France.
I've loved Babs since her first album. I knew then she'd be a huge star! I regret not seeing a concert in person. She'll definitely go down in music history as one of the greats. Fun interview! Can't wait to get her book.
I love how down to earth and relatable she is.
Love this show!
Goin' down those stairs, I expected a.. um.. 'specialty' shop.
That show was like buttah. Like buttah!
Barbra is so awesome, love her ❤
ok at 1:31 did you see the troll in the window, down low? Scared the bejesus outta me!
I really enjoyed this interview ❤
Fantastic Interview of the Legend that is Barbra. She is my biggest Actress influence. It’s my dream to work with her on a film. Thank you for this, Stephen and crew - it was beyond wonderful!
I hope Stephen didn't really pinch Barbra's little pink glass bowl!
It must have been a look-a-like copy.
Or they arraigned to put a bowl in the cabinet, so that Stephen could "steal" it
That was my assumption too. @@arthuralford
I loved this interview! Great Job!!
Thank you, Jimmy, for numbering multiple episodes
Ummm… It’s not Jimmy - it’s Stephen Colbert… But they’re both *brilliant,* right? 😊
Sony needs to send her a Crunchyroll-hime figurine for her dollshop
House on the Rock and museum of science and Industry in chicago both have fake store areas and they are pretty cool
Nice house
Stephen the funny man!
I love Barbra so much. I hope she enjoyed how the interview turned out. She is one of the most beautiful human beings and made all of our lives so much richer for having been her authentic self. I trust that someone other than Trump will be the 47th president and Barbra can stay here in California with us. :-)
Thanks so much Mr. Colbert and to Barbra of course.
Hope you get your Xmas shopping done in ood health!
Hilarious!
They have chemistry.
I love antiques glass... especially depression glass.
I sure hope you returned that glassware!!
I saw the play written about her tiny mall! I would have liked this clip to have been longer, so we could have seen the whole thing.
The video should be called "Stealing at the Tiny Mall in Barbra's Basement" 😄
Do your homework...she s earned Every Pennt every dollar...and pays HUGE TAXES
As absurd as most rich people are with their money and how they use it, the fact that Barbra showcases her collection and interests via a MALL of all aesthetics??? That is SMART and COOL! Like that is super cleaver and would I would have done if I have that many things to show off. It's Organized, it's charming, it's great to look at. Very well done, Barbra, be proud of your collections.
I love it too and it's so creative and endearing.
I love love love Barbara ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Soooo funny :) check the lady in the window @ 1.30 First I thought Stephen planted a Doll there to scare Barbra :D but noooo... IT IS ALIVE ! :) sooo funny
Great eye!
It was probably a ghost summoned by one of those “haunted” dolls! 🤣
Those Chinese shoes were not for “a little one”. They were for grown wealthy women who had their feet bound from the time they were young girls so their feet would only be 3 inches long from heel to toe. Such feet were euphemistically named “3-inch golden lotuses”
Did he shoplift that pink chochki? 🤣🤣🤣
That woman has the patience of a saint.
That must have been slightly terrifying for Stephen.
I would have been so nervous about breaking something l probably would have reverted back to my mother’s instructions from when we were little kids and went into gift shops on vacation “Put your hands in your pockets and keep them there until we get out!”
Can't wait for the duet album to come out!
Jajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaja I almost choked on rice when he grab that piece and pocket it jajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaj
I've always loved her voice and her acting ability but now i see she is truly the mensch I hoped she might be, having kept her values and her honor intact. She reminds me of my late wife Lynn and that is the highest compliment I can give a person. I bet if we had met under normal circumstances we would have become friends, not buds but actual friends, as i am loyal to the few friends i love. As a non religious but culturally and ethically aware Demi-Jew who was born in Brooklyn, I suspect we have much in common. Thank You Stephen for this gift of a little bit of the real Barbra Streisand. It feels good to see another person who understands The Time Has Come To Show PeopleThat NOBODY IS NOBODY.
What a lovely tribute to your wife. She was a lucky woman.
@@mariacatherine229
She would say so, I have no doubt. But she, by seeing who I am when I was completely blind, opened my eyes to the power of real love and saved my teenage life. She made it possible to go on for 35 years still believing that somewhere out there there has to be a person who believes in the same values that I do, and understands how communication and understanding lead to trust and lasting friendship. The song from Titanic actually is not exaggerating reality. Extreme gratitude that I was allowed to know her lets me celebrate her birthday each year, while I do not concentrate on the day she left.
I want that basement space, I'd do so many themed rooms.
"that's a lot of dolls." HA! You should see me mom's house.
41 Days To Go Before Christmas
Unique.
I get that, but She also can't just walk into a regular shopping mall 😅
What, exactly, was that piece of glassware? Who made it? How old is it? Does anyone know?
Some folks are just so angry they spit .at everything positive. It's sad.
