Hi, Josh. Thanks for asking. One of the many joys of moving to Paradise (aka Cambridge) is the ease with which one bumps into notable people. In this case, it was after Evensong one weekday evening, when I had drifted in, and this unspoilt Lass was alone, tidying up. Pembroke is also next door to my joint-favourite place of worship, viz, St Botolph's

Anna has done more to popularise the classical organ than anyone I can think of in the last 50 years .
Having always loved pipe organs since I was a sprog in the late 60s I can honestly say she’s great at making it fun and not the stiff and starchy instrument it’s often portraid as.

It wasn't until I watched the playing at the end of this video that I saw how influential her harp background is. She plays with the style of a classical concert pianist; but there is an extra lightness, fluidity, and flare in her fingers. The harp background is also noticeable in her presentation to the keys, and how her emotions are displayed in the hands, arms, shoulders, and head movements -- again with a flowing movement as the notes are played.
I've never seen her TT; but I've been watching her on YT in the AH practice sessions, even before seeing the clips of the memorable concert.

Ms. Lapwood omitted one of the "re-wirings" that go with the transition from piano to organ, and that is getting comfortable with the hand positions required by the manuals. The few times that I attempted to play an organ, my mind absolutely rebelled at having my hands not be on the same plane, as in piano playing.

Stereo typical organist like my Grammy she was a good organist that played at the Presbyterian Church
and would play ragtime piano at the legion hall dances Friday nights.
When it comes to hymns you should use Pink Floyd's "On The Turning Away" in a service.
Music is not founded on logic but transcends logic and impact the soul through emotion
it is possible to change your attitude by what you listen to.
Any one who teaches and guides the next generation has made themselves immortal in that you will live on through them.

There was a cathedral in the USA that had two organs up in the choir loft. It was usually the smaller one that was being played during services. I was able to attend a benefit performance one night. A skilled organist was putting the amazing full pipe organ through its paces. The entire building came alive. I especially enjoyed how the physical building materials and the air flow continued to react for a bit after the last note was played. There is a sense of reverential awe in the concluding silence.

The one single thing I detest about almost all interviews is that the person being interviewed is constantly interrupted, and diverted from the topic they're talking about. Interrupting them for clarification is a necessary evil but it seems the interviewer here is more interested in hearing his own voice than he is in hearing Anna. It's a huge irritation and a crying shame that we only get Anna for half of the run time.
