Thanks for the kind words, guys! 2015 is shaping up to be a very exciting year for us at Marshall, and we can't wait to show off what we're working on. The 2555X is a permanent part of our Vintage Re-Issue Series, so it's here for good or until we tell you otherwise!
And Rob, we'll pass on the comments about a mini Jubilee to our R&D chaps!
insidemarshall Thanks dudes, if that comes out I'd love to demo it ;-)
Rob Chapman insidemarshall A mini Jubilee. Take all of my money. Just take it.
AchillesTheHedgehog Did the JCM1 have a switch to make it sounds more like a Jubilee?
insidemarshall YES a mini Jubilee!!!!
Spot on with the 25/50. These 100w beasts are iconic and very desirable but just not practical for 95% of guitarists.
Marshall might not be known for their cleans, but John Frusciante used Marshalls and he had most magical clean tone ever. So there is that.
SRV used a Fender and a Marshall the 'wrong way' (dirty Fender, clean Marshall), and he had a fantastically crisp clean tone, so there must be something in that.
hughtubecube True, but at least one of the Marshalls SRV used was the 4140 Club & Country Combo, which was a weird circuit for Marshall. It was supposed to be their answer to a Fender Twin and didn't really sound like a regular Marshall (it had very Fender-ish clean tones.) It never really took off and there weren't a whole lot imported into the US, so they're kind of rare. It was more like he was using two Fenders, except one said "Marshall" on the front.
FWIW, Alex Lifeson used the same amp quite a bit in the early to mid-80's Rush stuff, including the Moving Pictures, Signals and Grace Under Pressure albums (before he switched over to a bunch of solid state amps for a while, inventing the World's Thinnest Guitar Tone.)
It's even better because frusciante used a jubilee for his main amp
tMattLZ he uses plexi's for his clean tones which are known & revered for their cleans (think hendrix clean)
& jubilees for his dirty tones, which have a usable but not inspiring tone, I've owned both 100 & 50 watt jubilees bought both times on reputation sold both times on underwhelming reality.
@@WithnaiI wrong lol
Its hilarious how many people think tone is a 1-dimensional thing that is either good or bad.
John Benoit Exactly ;-)
Cock!
I either like the tone I hear or I dont. But sometimes you cant really tell until you hear something within the whole mix as well.
It is............my tone...is bad.
Well you either like something or you don’t so..
This was one of the best guitar amp days we'd ever had - the Marshall 2555X & the Suhr Badgers seriously knocked it out the park! Badger video coming in a week or two....
I feel like you could have gone another minute to make the video 25:55 long.
John Frusciante used a Silver Jubilee!
Teun Putker he played the fuck out of it
Yep. And it was a favorite of Slash, Joe Bonamassa for years, and RIch Robinson for awhile. I love the tone of the Jubilee. I think it's cleans and slightly dirty sounds separate it from other Marshalls, and it's lead gain sounds cry out.
David Bearnson in my opinion it’s the best sounding marshall. to me it’s jcm800 but darker and with a bit more gain.
Omg thank you rabea for that tone and that playing... exactly what makes me want a jubilee in the near future
Thanks guys and the best demo of the Jubilee I’ve heard! I’m a proud owner of an original 87’ 2555 and have to say Marshall did an outstanding job on recreating this awesome amp!!
1:18 is painfully familiar to anyone who's spent time in a music store. And it's ALWAYS the guy who's got his amp cranked.
That's the reason I will never ever learn to play it lol.
The Suhrs in the background doe!!!!
***** Just to look pretty :)
Yeah for sure. They made a comment about the insane cost, but they are all hand wired by a boutique company in California. You gotta pay the premium for that!
James Russo
Badgers are not HW. SL-67 and SL-68 are.
Leander Johnsen Haha that's true
looking forward to see those suhrs in action
I had the humble opportunity to meet Mr. Marshall, he was extremely kind, homebody type, asked if our baby needed milk. Then he signed my amp! This was before the museum. Phil still worked on amps. Fixed my 20watt L&B with a single rectifier replacement. It still smokes.
Just brought one of these, cant wait to crank it up in my home studio when its built!
Wow, this sounds like the Marshall I heard growing up in the 80's/90's. I don't know what happened with the DSL/TSL's around 2000, almost impossible to play lead on, the notes died instantly. This sounds like what Marshall amps should sound like.
I got one of these bad boys. It is just flat out 80's screaming Marshall. Mean but beautiful somehow. Marshall is back!
DSLs are great amps, and it seems many agree with me. TSLs, on the other hand, are so bad they don't belong in the same sentence.
***** dsl series is a great amp but since these are now only around three hundred dollars more I opted for one of these instead
I have a DSL 100 that fuckin sounds dope AF
DSL amps are weak.
Jeeze that sounds so gorgeous
I bought this amp about a month a go. I love it. It's awesome! I've never used the rhythm clip because of the lose of output, but aside from that I can achieve a similar tone on the lead channel by rolling back the volume on my guitar. Fantastic amp! Love it!
I seen you guys had this in stock for a little while now I was waiting for a vid to be put up glad it finally came out that amp is one of the most badass sounding on the market great vid as always guys \m/
So refreshing to hear Rabea play.
Just gotta say, guys, that I think your vids are so informative, so even-handed, and . . . humane. You guys find a positive, supportive spin for every product and every player. I can't imagine that anyone feels like they've personally been maligned in either their choice of music styles, opinions of gear, playing ability, or their favorite artist's playing ability. I appreciate the way you present all your videos, and though I watch them for the information, I'm also just completely entertained by them. They're fun!
Thanks guys, for great, informative fun on youtube!
It was the JCM Slash (introduced in 1996) that was based on the Silver Jubilee Series! Sounds way better than the AFD!
I love the tone of this one! Rich and warm!
The rhythm clip DOES have an affect on the overall tone when on Lead mode. With the clip pulled out, it has a thinner more midrangy sound. I prefer it pushed in as it gave me a more fatter, robust punch. Thicker if you will.
This is true. It cuts the low end quite a bit. Its like having a tubescreamer. I'm not sure if it is meant to do that or not.
What if I won't?
@@JobForAMaxboy then the amp blows up
Thank you Lee for putting my thoughts into words about no huge changes in music/guitar tone since pretty much grunge of the 90s
Best sounding stock Marshall I've ever heard!! Killer demo fellas!!
This has to be one of the best Marshall's I've heard in sooooo long.
I gotta learn that riff to summon my own Rabea...
£11.99? I'll take two
For 11.99 i 'll take 4 ....BBBBBUT unfortunately this beast has 1.200 .......i think if someone can easy give these money then why not give a few more to buy the JVM410
nick katsoulis jvm sounds not the same as a jubilee
Azoray ...ok lets say you are right.....BUT focus to the money, focus to your pocket .....if u have 1700- 1800 (for example) what whould you buy ??????? a 4chanel beast 100watts JVM410 ....or a small 20 watts littleeeee marshall jubille...??????
nick katsoulis i agree, the jvm is a very good sounding and versatile amp, but it's not the same as a jcm800 or jubilee to my ears.
If you are in a band and play a lot of styles the jvm is a better amp.
But if you almost only play classic rock and some blues stuff the jubilee will make you very happy.
I've been waiting for this
I really, really, really, really , really want one of these amps. To me it's the holy grail of Marshall amps!
I like it. By comparison to the JCM-800, the 2525 Jubilee sounds just like an 800 with an extra gain stage on the lead channel, but it doesn't sound buzzy like the 900's did. It just has that classic Marshall tone, Great demo, well done!
I was surprised at the effective EQ as well. Sounds great. Want one!
In '87 Marshall also made a 25/50 watt version with two 2 x12 cabs, 1 slant and 1 straight diagonally positioned speakers.
I had two of those stacks years ago. Still to this day those were the best sounding Marshalls I have ever heard. Chappers might like it better if he used a Dimarzio equipped guitar ( not the tinny/trebly SD style pups ) and tuned down a step. That setup makes those amps insanely good. The tone would rival any mesa out there.
love the ending!
All you guys needed was a 1980's solid white Kramer guitar to play :) I was a teenager through the 80's and loved this vid.
Nice amp, great demo as usual.
Awesome to hear some Extreme being played!
great reviews, cheers from Canada
Yes! Thank u guys!
ABOUT TIME lol. Been looking forward to this video since the namm show.
at 4:12 you nailed it with the explanation of it not being a bassy amp. Lot's of people don't understand that.
I have the 25th.(1987) silver jubilee lead 12 mini stack. Pretty sweet! I can't believe how much Rob and I sound like on the sweet child intro. You guys should be paid by the manufactures A lot of times, because of shipping, tariffs, etc. It's easier to buy in USA but when I can I do. Thanks for all of the videos. Keep up the great work. .
Dude. At 1 minute I'm sold. That bend...the Universe HOWLING. CHEERS!!!
Wow! Rob's guitar sounds really good at last. Now I could consider getting one.
I never quite understood why Marshall and amplifier companies of the like don't install freaking wheels onto their larger amps/cabs. I had to buy a freaking furniture dolly in order to easily move my Marshall to my gig.
Wheels might be crushed under the weight and also stacks might be a bit wobbly
MostLikelyMortal Marshall 2x 12's and 4x12's have the holes for the Marshall caster to screw in?
Wheels affect the transfer of bass to the floor.
MostLikelyMortal my Marshall 4x12 came with casters for that very reason
MostLikelyMortal Mine 4x12 has wheels haha.
I'm the proud owner of an original Jubilee 2555 - SERIAL NO. 05673 and many tones including Classic can be had! Super versatile with a sensitive EQ that takes pedals well wether in the front end or loop. Getting the Master up reply makes the amp shine!
Great demo guys, cool amp!
Pretty soon Rob is going to resemble Strapping Young Lad era Devin Townsend. You could do a lot worse :)
Or the Sex & Religion period? :D
***** Since I've read that all im trying to do is imagine the next step; Rob, bald.... ;-;
I have always wanted one of these. I really like the hot-rodded marshal sound. I really like Soldano amps too.
I absolutely LOVE those Chapmans, especially the ML3.
That intro with the wah sounds incredible
Awesome playing Rob and Rabea! I could barely see your lips moving... well, until Rabea hit those harmonics. The Jubilee sounds awesome.
Gorgeous tele on the wall!
This amp delivers. Ultimate Marshall tones and the did that one right when it came out in 1978. Still today it is the best "modded" Marshall circuits IMO. Yes, some sound more brutal, some more modern but this Marshall circuit gives all the great Marshall tones a player needs. This RI is maybe even better than back in the days. Well done, good people at Marshall. Can´t wait for the news and thanks for the Jubilee \m/
Great review!!!!! Great amp or so it sounds
Oddly one of my favourite demo videos from Andertons. The little discussion about shifts in music and Lee's take on Elvis to Jimi to Zeppelin etc. (the general progression into todays musical landscape.) I see where he's coming from, and although not being old enough to see the way he's seen it, especially working in the music business as long as he has. I feel that Chapper's put it perfectly by saying "we look back with that kind of fond familiarity." Moreover, although it may seem like an obvious step "forward" (to some) by experimenting with extended range guitars, new more percussive techniques (sometimes as a result of fusing elements of existing styles such as flamenco and jazz,) interweaving song structures (and rhythmical phrases) along with somewhat one sided vocals (much to my dismay). In my opinion what will really take us to the next "progression" if you will of music as a concept and tonic for the masses, is the way in which the masses receive and understand these "newish" genres (and all genres for that matter) despite target audiences and marketing ploys.
I wonder why the nine people (at this point) disliked this vid? It's a balanced and reasonable demo of the amps capabilities. You'd have to try pretty hard to dislike either Rob or Lee.
Another useful and entertaining demo, cheers!
Great playing Rob as per usual🤘Like the JMP tones a lot more though🤓
Great demo as usual I was expecting it for month, thank's !
I didn't get well what you said. Does it sound well and/or can it be used at low-mid volume, as well as a JVM 205 does ? Thank you :)
Love your vids gents! Could you please please please do a review of the Vox AC15HW. I know its not a new product, but a review done by the two of you would be absolutely awesome.Throw in some of your favourite OD pedals with it and we are cookin with fire. Commeee onnnn!! Anyways, keep up the good work chaps.
Did a tour while in the UK a few years ago. What a great experience. Nice train ride from London also.
yes! we want more bea!!!
HOLY MOLY! I'm sitting here with my jaw dropped right now. WHAT TONE! :O :O
Badass amp and playing \m/
Best Dudes Ever !!! & Nicely Done !!!
Best tone yet!!
What a great amp
That gold top is gorgeous..mine mine mine
Great sounding amp for sure.
Been a while since there's been a video with Chapmans being used, I almost forgot how badass they sounded.
Hey Rob! Jubilee sounds great!! We've got just got one of these at work!! Quick question which pedal were you using to boost it a tad?? Cheers!!
Hey Chappers and Lee, i would really love to see you guys do a how to sound like ace frehley on a budget video : )
Ever thought about doing a sans amp fly rig review? I'd love to see it in blues, rock and even metal conditions. Love your guys honesty
Looking foward for the Suhrs review:)
Fab review dudes
I think Rob's right regarding Sikth, Periphery, AAL etc changing the game in the modern rock/metal world. This amp sounds sooooo good though!
Fair point, they're not given the credit they're due, but I wouldn't say that any of the bands I listed literally just ripped off their style directly, they evolved it, or progressed it if you will ;)
YJM forever !!! Good job guys ! Thanks
Rob killed that Holy Diver riff \m/
I think BEA is way the best player in these vids
Great review as always.. The white balance is looking a bit off in this one though, looking very yellow.
does Lee usually only use the small fender combo amp behind him to mic and play through ? would be nice to see him use a variety of great guitar amps that Andertons has available, when doing the guitar vids with Rob and his silverback stack. beauty amp that one.
kasnitch I think the Captain usually has the better tone and sounds. I'm sure that's the rig he's comfortable with also, but hey you never know :)
***** Love the Captains playing!
kasnitch Keeping the amps they use each gives a more consistent way of hearing the other guitars and pedals etc they have on test.
The Jubilee mini stack was transistor. I love my 2x12 Jubilee combo amps and will get another one if Marshall would reissue the 2x12 combo
YESSS! YES YES YES! Simply the single BEST AMP EVER MADE! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! (Yes I would shout that in person) It's just so dammmn good. I'm literally just laughing listening to Rob play through it.
Are you gonna test the JCM 800 2203 reissue, it is a beautiful amplifier.
fantastic :) Thumbs Up :)
Awesome little holy diver bit there
cracked up when you played sweet child o mine xD
Man that Sweet Child o Mine was on point lol
Love this banter - I think that many bands push boundaries now, the same way Zeppelin and Van Halen did, but the big difference is the commercial success. Hendrix changed the guitar world as we know it, but was also one of the best selling artists if his day. When a band can achieve both of these principles, it is "ground breaking"... otherwise they are pushing boundaries that wont matter to the masses.
Side note, love my ML3 Traditional!!
best sounding amp ive ever heard imo
Love the 60 FPS video!!
I do love watching Rab play ...
I think these great, almost like paradigm shifts in rock music that Lee was talking about can probably only be seen in retrospect.
Love this amp. I hope I get. to play something like this LOUD one day. With ear plugs :)
Twelve Foot Ninja for the win! Awesome!
This Amp is freakin killer !!
i love that WAH sound
I need to get one one of these. There mean sounding.
Now im waiting for a suhr video
any blue guitars you guys make automatically look stunning
I wouldn't say Royal Blood are doing anything new. It's pretty standard garage rock
***** Death From Above 1979 did the lead bass and drums thing a decade ago (with the drummer doing vocals) and have had great success with it.
***** Perhaps not standard in terms of the instruments, but the style of music isn't new (White Stripes) and bass + drums isn't a new idea either. Royal Blood are an interesting and talented band, but not a groundbreaking one.
Steven Chabot hate them, their song on mainstream is fucking number 3! its not good either is a 2 man band
This may be the best sounding amp I ever heard
