@@ytdude_g2042 It used to be curiosity. People may want to take photos with you because they have never interacted with foreigners before. However, with rising economic power, China is getting more international visitors than ever, and Chinese themselves are also going abroad. A blonde foreigner stopped being a curiosity even in the early 2010's, as by now, people have seen plenty. I did read at one point mixed-race children was the latest curiosity for Chinese locals as they haven't seen that before. With the passage of time, I expect the novelty of all these 'firsts' to eventually wear off. You may be more of a novelty in India than in China, as I've heard that parents with blonde children still have to cover them with a hat because people will want to touch. I am Chinese, and when I visited India, I had plenty of people who wanted take photos with me because they have not seen many East Asians. I don't mind. I think this happens in every region when people meet someone who's not like them for the first time.

Hahahaaa dude I remember when I was journeying from beijing back to Shanghai I had a standing as well and I managed to find a sit but thank God before that I spoke to the train conductor and he said it was okay. So I sat and had a conversation with this mom and child beside. So they were sat in one of the seats that belonged to a guy. So anyway they didn't want to get up then the next thing I received a tap on my shoulder.. and this dude wanted me to get up. I looked at his ticket and I politely told him I'm sorry but I m not in your seat, they are. The guy began raising his voice and pulling all attention to us. And out of nowhere this 'friendly' Chinese people started all raising their voice to tell me to get up and I said no. The guy was offered a seat behind me and he refused. He tried to intimidate me and called the conductor hahaa the same one that told me it was okay to seat there. The conductor came looked at me said hi and left hahaa 😂🤣 ain't God good. I did not get off that seat at all. Till we reached. @wodemaya

Taking the slow trains in China is always an uncomfortable experience because of the large number of people and the sitting arrangement where people sit opposite each other and facing each other. As a black man living in China for over six years, I get plenty of stares whenever I'm outside, anywhere. 😂😃 I'm used to people asking questions about my skin and making remarks. I'm kinda used to it all already and since my Chinese language skills are almost perfect, I turn these discomforting situations into opportunities for conversations.

I Recently just got back from a month trip from China.I am Nigerian and My friends are from all around the globe like Mexico, Ghana, Burkina, and etc. It was kind of like a "school trip" for all grade levels, I graduated from high school this year so it was the final year to go, for me and some friends. From my expirence When I went on the train, I got a lot of stairs and they even touched my hair lol but I never knew until one of my friends told me. But they were so nice and humble. I think we took the fast train because we went from Shanghai to Beijing and it was just a couple of hours. But I loved the expirence and I would definitely go back.
As a Chinese I have taken slow trains many times, but always in sleeping car. So This is also a new experience for me. Thank you ; )

I understand. When I was in China, I got alot of stares but people were generally friendly. I only has one unpelasant experience when a group of young Chinese men approached me at my hotel lobby and looked liked they wanted to start a fight. When they realised that almost everyone in the lobby were with me, they quickly backed off.

I have read comments on how they stare etc. I was recently in Nigeria and almost everyone stared at me. To the point a guy stared at me for good 10 mins whilst I was waiting for my pick up. It's normal. Shop people at local markets wanted to take pictures with me. Some touched me. I think it's expected in some parts of some huge countries. And I am not white. I'm dark skin Asian. For those who dont know staring in asian culture especially in certain countries such as china, is considered very rude. Touching the head is also seen as a great offense, so yes, any time they are staring at you like that, or when they go to touch your hair, it doesnt matter if it is out of curiosity they are being rude and KNOW IT. anyone telling you otherwise and using being a foreigner as an excuse would be lying. Because if they were to travel to western countries, and be stared at along with touched on their head without permission it would be rude. They are doing this purposefully and not hiding this rude behavior.
