- I'm too far away to go and place flowers and liquor in Edgar Allan Poe's tomb, in Baltimore, US. But every january the 19th I remember Poe in some way or another. This time, I've chosen to add Vincent Price impersonation of famous tale The Tell-tale Heart (first act of his An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe movie). When I was living in Spain, I did the same tale in spanish for a live audience on several occasions (Arnod Medvegia was my nickname on those performings). I love this tale. I love Vincet Price. And finally I love Edgar Allan Poe. This is my homage to both amazingly talented geniuses, combined here again to give life to such a masterpiece.
Happy birthday Edgar!! - Zábava
I wish someone could remaster these... Vincent Price is amazing and deserves to be seen in all his glory.
I love the stories and poems of Edgar Allan Poe. His work was so dark but incredible.
Raeyne Jaymeson me to
I remember seeing this program on PBS years and years ago in the early seventies. Vincent Price gives a good reading Edgar Allan Poe The Tell-Tale Heart, sounds like a true madman who is trying to convince me and you that he is sane as anyone else.
Its stuff like this that cements Vincents legacy as a masterful horror actor. No one else there and he plays it perfectly.
Gives me Shivers !! Vincent Price Is/was a CLASSIC !
No one, and I mean no one can read the way that Vincent price does! The man was a true gift and talented beyond words! Rest in peace Vincent, you gave us wonderful moments to look back on!
Edgar allan poe was a very lost soul. He was weak and wary, and no one on this earth will ever understand what he had to go through. You can really tell his pain in his writings, but that's only the tiniest shred of the dread that went through his mind. Rest in peace edgar allan pie, may you finally be happy.
A master reading the work of a master.
Ah one of my favorite tells of Edgar Allen Poe. And better let Vincent Price to tell it!
Edgar Allen Poe and Vincent Price...nothing could go together as well as that.
This was broadcast in the mid seventies if I'm not mistaken. I have it on DVD and it should still be available. Price also performs a few other Poe stories. Just incredible, but I would expect no less from Vinnie.
Vincent Price! What a great talent!
The most epic paring of all things ghoul: Vincent Price and Edgar Allen Poe.
I just can say.... I love you Vincent!!!
Wow!!! He is such a great actor!!!
My English teacher taught us about and dressed up as Edgar Allan Poe today.
It was pretty awesome. He was telling us about "himself", then read us this.
The one thing about Price is that he was BORN to act/read out Poe's work, his voice is beautiful, his acting just as much, nothing beats Price telling/acting out Poe's work, he was a master at it.
I have not seen or heard another guy who can do a great job like Price did, nothing else compares to Price, im not saying actors havent done decent enough jobs, they have, just that Price was in a league of his own when it came to Poe's work that there is no comparison.
I had to watch this for a school assignment but i loved it so much i still listen to it
happy birthday mr.edger allen poe
you are a wonderful poet and an genius.
ps.vincent price is a wonderful actor.

A work of genius. Price in his prime.
such a marvellous actor, he had a wonderful reading voice. He really brought Poe's story to life
Agreed. So scary when I was little, it wasn't what one saw, rather what one didn't. No movie today gets me the way the old horror movies did.
Even though I’m like crazy late I remember watching this in school and all the class but me and a few others were scared of this performance.
Bravo, Mr. Price. Bravo.
ahhhh vincent price the king of horror and terror, his voice alone van send shivers down your spine,
my grate grate grate uncle twice removed used to act along side him in a few films,
GOD REST BOTH THIER SOULS
Never was never will be another Vincent Price
No one can do Edgar Allan Poe better than Vincent Price.
This inspires me..
I agree 1 billion percent that Vincent Price is the best narraotor in the world! :D Vincent Price is beyond any narrator I've EVER heard. That voice! That amazing, dramatic voicee! Along with his grasping face expressions. Ahh.. it gives you chills. Edgar Allan Poe is also genius for such suspenseful, detailed writing! Agh, great combination. That's why this video is so good! I can't imagine if it had never been done..
A master class in portraying a disturbed mind...
Oh, Vincent, how I love you 🥰❤❤
Love it! I'm very proud to live in Mr. Poe's hometown. I've spent many a Halloween at Westminister Cemetary to visit his grave....amazing place...

Vincent Price is probably the best narrator in the world.
Fantastic, he draws you in!! What a story teller..Thanks for uploading this and thanks to the symbiosis of genius...
I have acted this every year in high school i won 3 times and the last year at the very end when "Villains!" I shrieked, "dissemble no more! I admit the deed! -- tear up the planks! -- here, here! -- it is the beating of his hideous heart!" i made my self cried in a psycho kind of way. i won first prize that year.
how can someone dislike this? speechless...

"would a mad man be so wise?"
I'm in 8th grade, and we read this and the hitchhiker, both amazing stories!(:
I love the part of this video where he widened his eyes and they make me laugh. They were the funniest pair of eyes Vincent Price ever had in his head.
My god this man was brilliant..has always been one of my favorites.A disturbing story made more disturbing by the finest actor of the last century.

Everyone will eventually agree that Vincent was the King Horror for his acting on Poe stories. He was my hero that put me on the path of Poe and other great literature such as Oedipus Rex. I wish I had a copy of him playing a part in a Sophacles play.
yah, I think more teachers should. Not only is it a neat experience, but a wonderful way to learn about and really understand Poe:)
this is my favorite story
Mr. Poe would be proud of this.
You can ask a ho put in there Sametime 5 times a day
Vincent Prince was a great choice for this film!
We had this story in Literature class

a beautiful man with an even more beautiful voice.... he was really price(less) :)
A barely there stage and props. The heart itself is only a red light on his hands but...oh my gosh....his horror is palpable!!!!!
