Day 2 of 2024 season at Mountain Creek Bike Park in Vernon, NJ was no short of action, of which included me going OTB on a blue tech trail I usually mow through. But then again, Creek's blue tech trails are notoriously resembling more closer to black diamond tech trails at most other bike parks. There's a reason riders like Richie Rude, Neko Mullaly, Jeff Lenosky, etc, etc can ride gnarly stuff well. While the flow trails are average compared to other parks, their tech is what I would call "world class" from my limited experience (although I've ridden out west too).
Anyway, all was going super fun until I said the infamous "one more run" after a exhausting day trying to get more used to a heavier and longer travel DH bike (coming from regularly riding a trail bike) while chasing down two much-faster friends. While cruising down "Waterboy" blue tech at about 85% of my fastest speed on that trail I lost focus for a second and my front while jackknifed in some gravel right into a boulder and instantly went OTB.
Luckily, I caught myself well and avoided what could have been much worse injury. I got away with a banged up elbow & shoulder, sore shins, and my bruised pride. LOL
I won't do that again on that trail! 😜
