    Luis' resume looks great visually, but it's generally advised against submitting that kind of resume when applying for jobs - at least here in the United States. They're more difficult to scan by ATS (resume scanner bots) and will likely be thrown out. It's best to stick with the "boring" Microsoft Word or Google Doc, single column, black & white. And leave the pretty resumes for a portfolio website.

      @@chechibo283 Yes, from what I heard the bots (ATS) that first read your resume can't really read 2 columns CVs. I would advise keeping it simple and in A4.

    This is a great video... for designers already in the industry. However for newcomers its hard to show experience and work on things like LinkedIn or Resumes in a level a hiring manager might look for. what would be your advice to designers starting out? Seek our freelance work or contract work locally?

    Thanks for this video! Love all of your content. QQ for you-would you recommend platforms like Weblow and Framer over UXfolio for a portfolio website?

    The problem with UI/UX field is the barrier to entry is so low now and the space is so overcrowded that its difficult to get your foot in the door. Anyone can call themselves a designer but large companies are more likely to hire someone with formal training.

    The screenshots and large avatar at the top of his resume looks out of norm and not useful at all. Takes up so much space that you extended the frame size of your edited version which is not recommended

    I am no CZcamsr but a UX design mentor and a hands-on Senior / Lead Designer for 14.1 years ;) Another rule of thumb to add here is, Don't make your resume in Figma or Illustrator :) This is something A LOT of recruiters will tell everyone too. And you probably already know the reason why.

      Resume as in CV? Why would you not create it in Illustrator? Please don't tell me we have to use Ms. Word for some odd reason 😂

    What is your opinion about accepting an internship right after a bootcamp just to stay engaged, even if the company and role isnt quite what you are looking for?

    • @feelcollins4358
      @feelcollins4358 Před 8 měsíci

      The primary purpose of an internship is to develop or learn new skills based on the role you are looking for. If you're trying to improve your UI/UX skills, applying for a position such as packaging designer, motion designer, etc, doesn't make sense. You have to be aware of the company's services firsthand. Apply to an agency, not just a random creative consultant/marketing agency, but one that focuses more on UI/UX, where you can be sure they will help you improve.
