FREE COURSES: www.guitarmast... Simple and extremely powerful insight that you can use to create quick practice plans that actually works and that you want to follow through on.
Sawyer Fulks I found him about 2 years ago, while sifting through all the BS guitar lessons/teachers on CZcams. A suggestion, if I may... The ones I personally keep returning to are Claus, Chris Zoupa, James Shipway, and Tom Hess (although Tom isn't my fav, he has some great advise now and then).

One of the best advises that I have found when it comes to learning to play guitar. Or how to overcome problems in life, in general.
I agree whole heartedly with this approach, not only as it applies to learning an instrument, but as it applies to life in general. I've spent more than half my life in a corporate environment, for as long as I can remember, "multi-tasking" has been seen as a virtue. Guess what: it doesn't really work. Finally, people are starting to realize: you can do one or two things very well, or many things half-assed.
You should have put that in bold letters! Do one thing at a time and do it well. Which this guy does. Love the shirt. I'm not sure it'll pass u.s emissions though.......
I love your video series on CZcams. I could listen to an audio recordings of you all day long, even while driving, for motivational inspiration before I practice each day!
HEY CLAUS!!!, WE ARE FRIENDS ON FACEBOOK, BUT I ALWAYS WATCH THE VIDEOS YOU POST on UTUBE. I just wanted to tell you that you have motivated and inspired me more than any 3 or 4 maestros combined !!!I just wanted to tell you 🎼🎶
I know I should be practicing right now, but I can't stop watching Claus's videos. Playing for almost 30 yrs and I have made more improvements in the last two weeks watching Claus than in the 30 yrs combined, this guy is amazing.
Claus, you mentioned "band"... Have you ever been in one or are currently in one? Id love to hear you playing with a band! You're better and more creative than Yngwie!
I just realized I lost my focus. I remember when I started practicing the pentatonic scales, I was so excited and passionate to play blues that all I did was run through the scales everyday almost all day. I use to watch TV while practicing, have conversation while practicing. I can finally see what is wrong with me. Thank you Clause. your metaphors are the best. Great teacher!
7:48 exactly illustrates how I feel once I accomplish a new technique that has finally move out of the practicing catagory and into the unconscious automatic catagory. Ots such a great feeling. I'm two weeks into my third month of learning and it feel so good every time you get over a hurdle and start new stuff in preparation for the next hurdle.
Claus has an insight and intuition that most teachers totally miss. He knows what it takes and he manages to cut through all the horseshit out there. Moreover, his enthusiasm is absolutely infectious.
8:16 _"...And you enjoy the process of repeating the same freakin' thing over and over again, thousands or millions of times."_ This cracks me up, because as counterintuitive as it sounds, I've found it to be true. There's a meditation to be had when the reps are working. Of course, when the woodshedding has me spinning my wheels...
Very good advice. I think you nailed it. I've heard the same thing being said by some real master musicians. Notably, Nelson Veras said he practiced Giant Steps for 10 hours a day for months! And doing nothing BUT Giant Steps, and pretty much nothing else.
I think he's basically saying in part that repetition is a must it's like typing, when you first start off it's Pick and Peck but after a while you don't even have to look at the keyboard you just look at the book and your brain automatically sends the signals to your hands on what to do and as he said it's like a dance it becomes effortless after you learn something by way of means of repetition or whatever other means you use to employ what you learn , and get it down good , it should always be that you've reached that goal only when you don't hardly have to think about it but you can just play what you feel and it's like a dance it becomes part of you, no more picking and pecking
Hi Klaus. I watched this video a few times now and decided to make my own CZcams Chanel based just on this lesson. I will focus on one aspect and document the progress as you suggested. I will thank you personally in the video and post a link to this lesson in the description. I hope that is ok? Reg. Mike
Great lesson as always! I have one major question; Is this approach supposed to be only for technique practice? I mean should these 75-80% you're talking about be 75-80% of my technique practice, or 75-80% of my all day practice time? Let's say I need to work on improvisation and writing, and thats what i'm passionate about, should that be 75-80% of my practice session, and should i just leave technique practice to the remaining 20-25%?
I learned focussing on technique weeks ago. I'm almost addicted to it, I just watch tv and practice all kinds of alternate picking licks with a metronome for hours. I need to get this thing to learn theory too. This is very, very hard for me.
How many items do you suggest putting into a practice schedule and staying this focused? Currently I use 3 to 4 and rotate through each every 3 mins over the course of an hour.
This sounds like an impossible task with my adhd. I can't focus on anything for more than 5 minutes, and even the most fun thing i like to do gets boring after a while. Medication helps a bit, but it's a bit of a rollercoaster.
Love your videos. Have you ever thought about having something less..ehrm, gray? Think it'd add a lot more warmth to your videos, if that makes sense at all.
I appreciate your work Claus. But i think it doesn't work everybody. I have tried to focus on practicing alternate picking during 6 months and get no result. Neither speed nor accuracy. And also practicing one little thing for a month is the most boring and frustrating thing i have ever seen. There have to be other things that i probably miss.
wow...."be focused about getting focused" its so clear now. I know exactly how to be a better guitar player now. Geez...are you kidding me? this is suppose to be a good lesson?
It's like a philosophy lesson wrapped up into a guitar course. I love it. Definitely gonna be watching more of this guy

Well said Rob G! You can't serve more than one master.
The Anthony Robbins of guitar.
hehe, well said ;-)
I love your video series on CZcams. I could listen to an audio recordings of you all day long, even while driving, for motivational inspiration before I practice each day!
Thank you so much for these tutorials! :) They really inspire me to play and practice more and not be so lazy :D
Haha! I've literally never seen a guitar teacher beat his chest to emphasize a point before - love the passion in your teaching Claus!
Awesome advice, genuinely useful and non-trivial. Also applicable to guitar-unrelated stuff ^^ liked+subd!
this video is perfect timing for me.....it was like it's directed at me. ...at the particular skill level I'm right now. ..Thanks Claus

you are incredible!! So much positive awesomeness that your channel is addictive!! Thank you!!!
Claus, you mentioned "band"... Have you ever been in one or are currently in one? Id love to hear you playing with a band! You're better and more creative than Yngwie!
It's all about the focus. Love the tip about following the emotions, not the brain.
finally! i can really relate to this guy. Love the way you teach. soaking this all in and storing it in my longterm memory bank. thanks!

This is so true! It took 30 years for me to figure out what my Dad was always trying to tell me about goals and focus.
Ive been practicing watching hours n hours of your videos. I am real good at that.
very insightful. i found it so true about what you said about how the world is ruled by passion instead of logic.

thank you ClausLevin, your videos became a motivation for me.
this is a wonderful philosophy! I'm going to focus on your arpeggio lessons now :)

another amazing lesson by the master teacher
love the video..love the energy. .you give me energy to practice. .
great guitar philosophy
Thanks Claus, great advise! Hadn't thought about this. Like you said too many things. This will work!!

Awesome advice!
THANK you Claus
Dude...goooood lesson👌👌👌👌
I do this playing a few measures of a piece multiple times for a week (sometimes more).
Awesome! You have to create 2nd channel where you give some motivation to people.
How many items do you suggest putting into a practice schedule and staying this focused? Currently I use 3 to 4 and rotate through each every 3 mins over the course of an hour.
Wish you taught in Chicago...
Hello Claus, what did you do to your Squire Strat to make it sound like this?
He gets to the point at around 4:00 ..................
Freakin' Carl jung of instruction. Indescribably helpful.
I wouldn't be surprised if he has degrees in psychology and music. lol
This sounds like an impossible task with my adhd. I can't focus on anything for more than 5 minutes, and even the most fun thing i like to do gets boring after a while. Medication helps a bit, but it's a bit of a rollercoaster.

Okidoki, thanks, let me try that then.. :)
Love your videos. Have you ever thought about having something less..ehrm, gray? Think it'd add a lot more warmth to your videos, if that makes sense at all.

Is that Squier scalloped?
It looks like it has a slight scallop.
That's what I thought, but I also thought it might be the lighting.
I like your shirt mr. Levin can i have it? Lol hope all is well for you.

Non erano gli italiani quelli che gesticolavano?????
