  • Video of a leachate tanker "standing"/idling in the Franconia Notch on the off-ramp shoulder while awaiting access to the NCES Landfill, Monday morning, July 15, 2024, 5:27 AM. The NCES Landfill operating hours begin at 6 AM. Let's also not forget the amount of greenhouse gas emissions these tractor-trailers emit while in operation.
We continue to show these videos as proof that regardless of what Casella tells NHDOT about the "preferred route" to the proposed GSL landfill at Douglas Drive in Bethlehem, Casella will not be able to enforce their longer route through the Towns of Bethlehem and Whitefield, meant to avoid political entanglement in Littleton. Truck drivers will take the shortest, most direct non-interstate route, which will be through Littleton, as stated by NHDOT officials.
Another question to consider, who will be responsible for reporting truck drivers not following Casella's "preferred route", citizens? Over time, it will simply become acceptable behavior...in my opinion. I do hope NHDOT will take all of this into consideration as they make their determinations about the driveway permit application for the GSL landfill development.
    Wake up, Littleton!
