    My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. czcams.com/users/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

    Note to everyone, for an eventual improvement to society... stop saying Amazon as the first option to buy things at. Take 2 extra minutes and support a company that sees your $1 go further in the community. Ace Hardware for example. Same goes with Lowes and Home Depot... those and Amazon and Walmart should be the last options we buy from, not the first. Thanks. Keep the $1 in your community for longer. Makes sense, right? No sides... no politics there. Thanks for reading.

    You are a genius, thank you for posting this. I just bought my first kayak and was looking at different anchor systems, and this is by far the most inexpensive and great setup that will keep the yak organized and my hands dry.

    Such a good idea. Unfortunately sometimes I have to unhook my anchor from my kayak and let the marker float until I come back for it. I may build a separate crate for pond fishing and use your idea. Brilliant 🤙

    Definitely thinking outside the box!!! GREAT IDEA... Amazon has retractable cord reels for scuba divers that keeps them tethered to buoys or the boat. They are marine grade and saltwater resistant. They hold upto 100 yds of twine. They're like a heavy duty retractable dog leash...

  • @joed.1547
    @joed.1547 Před rokem

    From my experience, get the retractable that has the internals made out of stainless steel. They cost much more but don't rust up like the usual cheap retractors. Found out the hard way, dropped the anchor one time and when I tried to bring it up, all I got was the cord. Took the retractor apart, and the spring was completely rusted though. Found one made with stainless parts and three years in, have had no problems. Costs three times as much but was worth it....

    you could make it to where it hooks onto the crate so all you have to do is unhook it and take it off the carabiner and toss it. Of course have a float attached to it.

    I've used these as well on the OK big game 2 for a few years now. I attach mine to the mounting plates in the rear so the swivel will let it sit down and out of the way. while they are great The winding mechanism will fail after a couple months (fresh) or a couple trips (salt: even if you rinse it out every time) I get mine at lowes and just run a uni to uni on the original line with the 550 cord. Have snagged a few times HARD the white won't break trust me. If you fish mainly salt might want to think about a detachable setup But I wouldn't spend a alot of time decorating and putting on stickers because you will be replacing it. That is a nice crate setup though man. Keep up the good vids

    this is probably a really stupid question but once you’re done with the anchor how do you get it back up since you get it caught on like rocks and stuff

    • @mainetroutwhisperer
      @mainetroutwhisperer  Před 6 lety +1

      Jake A sorry I didn’t talk about that. If you see the zip tie on the top of my anchor, I run the lint through that so if it gets caught on a rock you just yank it and snap the zip tie so it pulls front he bottoms of the anchor. Try to pause it where my anchor shows and see how I hooked it up.

    Still deciding on how I want to set-up the anchor system on my rig. Following the link you provided, did you get the model with the steel or the plastic housing? Thinking steel may last longer, but will rust on the inside if it's not factory primed/painted.

    • @mainetroutwhisperer
      @mainetroutwhisperer  Před 7 lety

      Greg Jackson I got the all plastic one and painted it black. If you're in salt water a lot I'm not sure how either model would hold up, but make sure to drill a few drain holes in the bottom and back of it.

      Albert Cervantes I could. It’s very easy. Just try to put the guides in the straightest line possible. Drill holes and rivet them on. Then run the line through. Since mines already installed it may be easier to search for “lever lock anchor trolley install” so you can see it done.

I just dont like being locked in with a claw anchor with parachord.

      @@MrZellybrown I've got a quick release set up using some shock cord so I can quickly be free of the anchor and it also pulls the cord out of the rope jammer cleat if I capsize. Had a huge smooth stingray grab my burley pot on a length of paracord and rip the stern under and thus never used a direct static rope or paracord to it since. Gotta have some give in the system to allow you to react.
